His ideas have permeated Christianity, you know the seminaries where pastors are trained, so not reading him

You ought to read the Bible. Jesus and Paul both taught on man's innate inability.

Hearing comes by the word of God and faith comes from hearing the word of God. That would mean faith comes by the word of God.

Word of God <-Hearing comes from <- faith comes from Hearing. The word of God is then responsible for both.

I didn't go to seminary either.
Why is it everyone but me can read the word of God and come to their own understanding, but I alone can only learn from people I've never read or have a conclusion of my own? You are some really gifted people.

No one who is saved believes they are superior. We believe we are saved in spite of what is true of us.

If it is as you say, it would read...faith comes by hearing the word of God. But it doesn't say that. It says faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

If faith came by hearing the word of God, everyone who audibly heard the word of God would have faith. Instead, faith is spiritually produced. I explained how a number of posts back.
