I found a violin bow on eBay. The sellers was asking $100.00 + shipping. I purchased the bow because I noticed it was worth over 1,000 USD. It was risky investment becaues I could have been wrong. After I got the bow in mail I discovered that it was a true pernambuco bow worth over 1k.

Do you think this was an act of evil? Something sinful?

I understand this same concept with an auction. If I can win the auction for something for far less than it's estimated value I have done no evil here. It was an auction.

I think Jesus Christ spoke about a wise man who found a peril and then purchased. Also, finding land with something valuable on it, then going out and buying it. I know the lesson was about the kingdom of heaven, but, the parable is good for what I am trying to find out.

Why would it be evil? You didn't try to deceive or take advantage of anyone. You took a risk, had faith and won. If you had lost would it be the seller's fault? No. You reap the reward for your actions in both cases.

Motive for each person is the final judgment, since you are well in your soul, between Father na dYou, you are well, as you already know, your motive, not being out of place
Love to you and Wow, cool

Good for u ! Surely it is the sellers responsibility to make sure they know what they r selling ? I have had a few things out if charity shops that have been worth far more than they were selling them for , nothing quite in your league though ! 😜 Good for u brother , maybe God was sending u a little , or a big ! blessing ❤️

It depends... did you buy it impulsively because it was a deal? I went through a spot in my life where I bought several items because they were a "deal". In the end I've probably lost over a thousand dollars.
You might want to stop "investing" until you sell it & only use your profits to reinvest.

What little one has, that gets taken and given to others, as Father knows best in allowing it all to be as is, for now to anyone, Father knows best!
Kind of like when Jesus told Pilate, you only have this authority for now, my Father has allowed this.
Who understood Jesus going to the cross without fighting back, anyone?
Not until the resurrection and the disciples got taught why Acts 1 amazing grace this is for us all to choose to believe God or not in risen Son for them or not. I see, saw, I could not do it myself, even asking for God's help, for it was "I" in the way still, (Romans 7). Now see to reckon myself dead daily (Romans 6:12), to see the new life given freely and be in love and mercy to all. The same as Jesus did willingly first, and that is not easy, and I am not saying I can do it either, God can and does through us if one, anyone is willing. Therefore, want to and Father knows it and knows this in each person personally, thank you Father, I can rest in trust to you, thank you Hebrews 4:9-13 Teach me, thank you, I know you will, I believe you, I shall stand in trust to you, have and still do like as in Job did, thank you.
trusting for us each to do the same between God and you personally too
nevertheless your will Father, not mine and off went Jesus to a willing death for us to be given new life in his risen Life to stand in even if ever in adversities too, I, believe and think this is truth from God for us all, anyone else?

I would say no you're not in the wrong, you are not greedy. You didn't know for sure if this was an original. It could have been a replica of that bow. So in actuality you were basically gambling your money, on a possibility.

But has someone has said in the comments earlier, "it is up to the seller to have researched the item before selling it"

Now let's say I go into a Goodwill and find etchings worth big money on the open market. No I'm not going to tell them, they have the research capabilities and they did not catch this.

Let's say I find it at a garage sale, I may look around at what their situation is, and then I may decide to say something or not. It's kind of like when a woman went into the pawn shop on pawn Stars. She brought in a Faberge broach spider.

She was talking to Rick and she was asking for $2,000. Rick responded "I would love to give you $2,000 but I have a conscience" he recognized the name, and of course he has dealt in jewels so he knows real ones from fake. He had done his research and knew quite a bit about that. Luckily for her he gave her $15,000.

He knew the value, she didn't. She was just lucky she ran into an honest man.

you didn't do anything wrong. when we antique dealers find good deals at sales we are under no obligation whatsoever to tell someone that they're price is too low! think about this: Jesus may not say anything. after all, if anyone buys to sell, & that's how the world operates, you must earn a profit! although i have told some people their price was to low at times, it was because there was a case of a poor person or someone who just didn't know the business & you have a heart to help & that you could sense she or he could easily be ripped off. Psalm 66:18 "if i regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me". Psalm 15:5 "he that putteth not out his money to usury nor taketh a reward against the innocent, he that doeth these things shall not be moved". for example, with silver dollars, if someone wants to sell you 100 silver dollars, you are under no obligation to tell them if they have something special but you have to be honest with what the current price of silver is per ounce & show them. i always show them the price from my phone. just so happens, i'm going to meet a lady in early October about buying her hoard of coins & i will tell her if she has anything special because i like her. if you don't tell but someone asks, then you should be honest & show the value. i'm telling her because she helped me with a contact to buy a truck 3 months ago & she has 3 properties with antiques & merchandise i'm going to purchase.

Yeah I hear these things. I have done those things before, telling the seller what he was selling.

I planned on keeping the bow, unless I find out that it really is a 30k model. That is what it looks like, the 30k bow. Right now I like playing my violin with it.

therefore, watch, see and hear, listen to Father, and hear what to do and not be selfish, Thank you insightful
Trust God, listen to God from within and not the Old self or evil spirits trying to get you in wrong motives, and if do, might be time to turn to God and learn new in love and mercy given us first
