It reverses Paul’s order in Colossians 2:11–12, where spiritual circumcision is “without hands” and happens “through the faith of the operation of God,” not through baptism.

Paul is not specifying a sequential order in those 2 verses. In fact he is describing what spiritual circumcision is in verse 12, which is buried with Christ in death and raised into life through the act of water baptism.

  • It confuses cause and sign — baptism is the outward sign of an inward change already accomplished by God’s Spirit.

You are reversing the order of what Peter clearly commanded, which is be baptized, then you will receive the spirit that effects the inward change, ie, spiritual circumcision. Paul describes the same thing in different words in Colossians 2:11-12

2 John 1:9–10
“Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God… If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed.”

Colossians 2:8
“Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.”

Ephesians 4:14
“That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive.”

2 Peter 2:1–2
“But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies… And many shall follow their pernicious ways.”

Matthew 7:15–16
“Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits.”

Acts 20:29–30
“For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.”

2 Timothy 1:13–14
“Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me… That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.”

Titus 1:9
“Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.”

Jude 1:3–4
“It was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.”

Romans 16:17–18 (KJV)
“Mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.”

When someone persists in teaching division under the name of doctrine, Scripture says to mark, avoid, and move on.
Grace and Peace

Rituals are repeated, whereas water baptism is not, so water baptism is not a ritual.

You’re very confused! There are so many verses on baptism and you seem to reject them.

"And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned."
Mark 16:15-16 NKJV

-"Jesus answered and said to him, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." Jesus answered, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God."
John 3:3, 5 NKJV

This is a command—-
-"Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call."" Acts 2:38-39 NKJV

It sounds like you’re rejecting God too!?—-

-"And when all the people heard Him, even the tax collectors justified God, having been baptized with the baptism of John. But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the will of God for themselves, not having been baptized by him."
Luke 7:29-30 NKJV
