The Holy Spirit can not make to one with inaccurate teachings.

Pray to the Father in Jesus name for Bible doctrine for every area of your life.
To guide you to teachers who are able to teach soundly, and to give you wisdom needed to keep yourself away from false teachers.
It all boils down to getting the Word and understanding!

For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. ​

I learned exegetically from him too and then from the seminary he directed some of us to.

The English definite article is enough of an issue that as I recall Daniel Wallace who wrote the advanced Greek grammar we used in seminary wrote his dissertation on it. So there's more to it than what you mention although that can be a part of the consideration.

Overall, it's at minimum an issue of the article and the prepositional phrasing normally used in the verses re: baptism and the Spirit.

I had a heart-to-heart discussion with our Greek professor in seminary re: pneumatology when we were working through several translational issues. His opinion matched mine - it could still use some work.

I fully understand those who don't want to hear such thinking.

Gaining knowledge and doctrine? No. At least not completely. If you would’ve said it takes God’s spirit and hearing God then you would’ve been correct. You love fancy words more than anything else. The Bible says knowledge puffs up.

God thoughts are not our thoughts!
His ways can be contrary to our own.

We stop resisting God when we know sound doctrine.
Thinking straight with God allows us to get out of the way and allow God to work through us.
Lest we be controlled by their own human reasoning and emotions, as many are today.
