John 5:24 ESV
Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.

Do you believe in Jesus who on behalf of the father died for your sins? Resurrected on the 3rd day? For the forgiveness of your sins?

Yes, I do! But Ive had so much come against me, Ive begun to doubt when the Lord was speaking to me. Im very scared. I know I was saved on November 23, 1975 but my assurance is still shaky. The ene.y has done a nu.ber on me.

Start believing God's word. He is faithful to His promises. He said, "I will never leave you or forsake you". (Hebrews 13:5)

Study God's word. Ask Him to reveal Himself to you. As His word gets into your heart, faith will arise. Your mind will be renewed and faith will replace fear. It will take time, but the sooner you start, the sooner you will be free. Let nothing stop you. We will pray for you, but you need to do your part.

Hi Shoshie,

That's the best question/ desire I've heard.
I am confident that the Lord will answer it right now. I will provide a few brief videos that will give Bible sources. He wants you to know, so ask Him again and beg Him for understanding. Tell Him you do not want man's opinion, but instead want His. After listening to these closely with an open Bible, I will answer all your questions from His Word that might come up.
Just you write them down.

Friend, if you believe and know the Lord to be who He says He is, then just rest in His Words above. He says you have eternal life, no longer judgement, and have passed from death to life. Meditate and rest in those words. Christians are not immune from hard times so no worries in that area, it almost expected of true Christians.

Hello Shoshie, living w/o assurance is a very difficult thing to be sure! This is one of the reasons that He wants us to "know" that we are saved and already possess eternal life .. e.g. John 5:24, and why He admonishes us to examine ourselves to be sure that we are truly in the faith .. e.g. 1 John 5:13; 2 Corinthians 13:5 (as others here have already mentioned).

You came to saving faith almost 50 years ago, so (if you don't mind me asking and if it's not too personal), what has shaken your assurance to such a great extent recently  Is it a sin/sinful lifestyle choice that you've made (or something else that you can point to), or is it something more like thoughts or feelings that you've been having here of late  (the latter is often the point of attack by our common enemy).

I have more to say about this (having been through it myself), but I'll wait to hear from you before I continue.

Thanks :)

Praying for you!

God bless you!!

Hello @Shoshie, I'm not sure how post #10 happened  I was replying to you on two different computers in two different places, so perhaps that was it? Sorry about that (whatever the reason was)!

Let me say, I uttered words out of my mouth no one should ever say. I make no excuses but the enemy camexat me hard. I repented and truly believe the Lord forgave me. I've struggled with much over the past 6-12 months with both parents dieing and the guilt associated when I feel Ibfailed at caregiving at different times. Iwas angry at me and at
God. I began a Griefshare group and am seeing a Christian counselor. Ive repented and the Lord has given me many Scriptures re: His never leaving or forsaking me but because my feelings dont line up or I don't feel a certain way when Ivrepent I fear all the time Hexwill leave me!!! I have little peace. My mind stays in confusion. He spoke to me just yesterday, He who comes unto me I will in no wise cast out. But the torment goes on. It really scares me at times. Maybe this explains it some.

God does not change! His word does not change and it is our standard that we live by.
What does change are "feelings". Our feelings are not reliable. You can not make good, solid decisions by using feelings.
"Does God love you?" The answer is always YES! Did He know from the beginning of time that you would come to this point in life and "feel" so lost and hopeless? Yes, He knew this! The enemy uses your hopelessness to condemn you. When you begin to tell Him "God, I love you! I am a mess right now but I know You love me and I confess this right now!" I repent of my darkness and my sin and CHOOSE to TRUST YOU WITH ALL MY HEART! When you do this it takes the power of the enemy away. You then TRUST GOD not your feelings.

Keep telling God and Jesus you love them in your prayers! Over and over! You choose to love them and not the dark hopelessness that has you held captive.

Thank you Father that you are our deliverer! When we turn our minds and trust to you, you move and power and might to deliver us from the lies of the enemy. Touch my brother today and he prays and gives everything over to you! Fill him with your love, your peace, and your forgiveness that is freely given by you! Amen.

Satan is the accuser of the Brethren. Resist the devil by telling him to get out of your life. Remind him of his defeat at Calvary and the precious shed blood of Jesus. As the blood of a lamb caused the destroyer to pass over Israel, so the blood of the Lamb of God forces Satan to leave you be.

Don't be passive. Quote scripture, which is the sword of the Spirit (Hebrews 4:12). Take those thoughts that trouble you captive. Command those thoughts out of your mind. If you did not choose to think them, they are injected by evil spirits. You have authority and power to take back your life. Use it. If you know a strong believer, ask them to pray with you as well.

I've been where you are. It's miserable. But you can put an end to the torment in no time. You have God's armour, so put it on. Ignore your feelings. They are of no use in these situations and can even work against you. The truth will set you free.
