It is the hope of every believer of having made peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ in what He has done for us on the cross.

1Co 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
1Co 15:4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

God was in Christ Jesus reconciling the world unto Himself.

2Co_5:19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

Many people are under a teaching that tells them when they die they will go to heaven. When I read the scriptures I don't see that anywhere.

First of all you need to be aware of men who might not be teaching exactly what the scriptures say. I know this from experience as I was tossed to and fro for years, listening to men interpret the scriptures.
I was deceived because I never checked what they were saying for myself.

Here is my destination as a believer in the gospel given to Paul by Christ Jesus

2Co_5:1 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

The word heavens is plural, not singular; heaven.

Anyone who has trusted in Christ alone for their salvation, that He died for our sins, was buried and rose again according to the scriptures. Our destination is in the heavens.

John
3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

God's Son is Jesus. He shed His blood as full payment for our sinfulness. There is no other way to Salvation but by His Blood. He loves you. Ask Him to be your Lord and Savior today. He is waiting for your response.

How is asking Jesus to be your Lord and Saviour going to save you. You need to obey the gospel to be saved according to the scriptures.

2Th 1:8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
2Th 1:9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

Well you need to go back and not only read but study the Bible. Every child of God goes directly to Heaven when he or she dies. There is no such thing as Purgatory.

While basing our faith and practice on what the Bible actually says is important, this thread seems to be an invitation to an argument rather than to edification.

2Th 1:8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
2Th 1:9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;
Obeying implies there is a command to obey as a prerequisite to salvation. Now we’re starting to venture a bit towards a works-based salvation which is an entirely different animal. As you pointed out in your first post, 1 Corinthians 15:2-3 briefly summarizes the gospel of Christ and so does 1 John 5:13. Salvation is based entirely on someone’s faith in Jesus Christ.

Also, I might add, faith is not considered to be a work of self-effort in order to earn salvation.

Faith is sourced from the Word of God:
Romans 10:17
17So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Faith is a spiritual gift of the Holy Spirit:
1 Corinthians 12:9
9To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;

Salvation is by grace through faith. Graces means someone has favor with God even when they don’t seem like they should deserve it. And this also says faith is not a work that we do.
Ephesians 2:8-9
8For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9Not of works, lest any man should boast.

So 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9, regarding those who do not obey the gospel, is about those who know what the gospel is, had a chance to decide to disobey it, and then hardened their hearts and rejected the gift of the Holy Spirit. All of this can happen as quickly as a blink of an eye without people fully realizing the grave mistake they just made.

2 Thess. 1:8-9 is talking about the rank and file unbeliever, though they may be a morally and ethically “good person”, is actually spiritually dead, will not receive eternal life, and will be destroyed in the afterlife per John 3:16.

the one who shed his blood foret told us how til be saved and said believe me and be saved. He didn’t say forget about my words and my blood will save you the blood And word go together. Eternal
Life , salvation from death is here alone

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭5:24‬ ‭

and condemnation in Christ is here alone

“He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.”
‭‭John‬ ‭12:48-50‬ ‭KJV‬‬

that’s our covenant and his blood is shed according to his words forever. The bloodshed of Christ is about remission his word is about saving faith

“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭10:17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

can’t be saved without coming through Jesus and what he said is salvstion before he shed his blood for remission

“And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭9:15-17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

ot was Moses word
And animal blood New Testament is Jesus word and Jesus blood

One is justified by faith. Scripture surly states that. This is why I am not always in favor of using a few verses when trying to define something as to what being saved means. One needs to lean the difference between theology(God’s character) and religion(People behavior). The latter will lead many astray.

I don't agree. Heaven is the believer's home, not his destination. The Bible makes it clear that, spiritually, we are in Christ right now. (Colossians 3:3) So in spirit we are where Christ is. Ephesians 2:6 confirms this. When we die, our soul and transformed body leave this realm to join our reborn spirit.

Christians are new creations. We are no longer of this world. The world should matter little to us. What is vital is God's kingdom. Let's get the job done and go home!

I am 96 years old and doctors tells me that something is wrong they can't fix so they give me no more than six months to be in this world. I don't think there is a chance that scripture isn't absolute truth about what will happen the day I leave here.

God created me and this earth. Some men say they know better, but no man has come at all close to what God created. Man can repair a body, but if the spirit leaves that repaired body does not live. Something in it had to go somewhere.

God is love, for only love could produce humans, oceans, canyons, trees, and such incredible beauty of the world.

This incredible God gave specific instructions about keeping the spirit alive eternally. God tells me it only takes faith in those instructions and I will live, and the entire world I see confirms it.

Really. Show me one verse that says You are going to heaven ?
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. "For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

I won't try to guess the poster's intent. It's at least got some people thinking about things that matter instead of trivia.

2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
If you don't trust what God says in the scriptures then you wont ever know peace and forgiveness that God offers through faith in the gospel given to Paul our apostle. God cannot lie.

John was not written to you or I. The audience at that time was Israel.

Rom 15:8 Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers:
They were to accept their Messiah. But as you read on further into Paul's writings, Israel rejected Christ and so because of their unbelief, salvation has come to the Gentiles.

Rom 15:16 That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost.

Now that things have changed you need to believe in Paul's gospel to be saved; 1 Corinthians 15: 3,4.

So Peter and John and the other apostles were wasting their time and leading people astray on the day of Pentecost? And by the way, the gospel of John was one of the very last of the NT books written, between AD 90 and AD100. The temple had been destroyed by then and possibly the nation of Israel. John was exiled to the island of Patmos when he wrote the book. It was "so that you (the reader) might believe", not so that only Jews might believe.

If it was for Jews only then it was pointless. By then the Jews had already rejected Christ and persecuted His followers. And that is why God permitted the Romans to destroy Israel as a nation. All four gospels were written after the epistles.
John 20
30Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book. 31But these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His name.
