Oh, well, then this makes it quite special, doesn't it? The extract from the article quoted in post #138 has identified a definite trend, I think. Having said that, what we really need is for the Lord to change people's hearts, that is, on the inside, by His grace. Whether they later get some outward design to show their new-found faith is another matter.

I'm going to a friend's tattoo artist in who has done all of her body art. Not nervous: excited!

Do you know how long your tattooed friend, whose tattoo artist you are using, also, has herself been getting inked?

A few years. She has "cherished" on her left wrist, "hope" on her neck, and a section of scripture on her back

Yes, these days, the experience can be approached with a good amount of confidence, with the usual precautions and common sense, of course. As meggars said about her experiences, on the other thread:

Yup! I've known her since I was 11. I use to be really good friends with her grand daughter and now I'm her house cleaner. Lol
She talks about her tattoo a lot. She is a very open person so she talks about everything as well.

If you've known her granddaughter for that length of time, I guess the granddaughter herself would also be old enough to have one, if she wanted. In terms of social and fashion history, things have progressed a great deal; from having been a man thing, years ago, now in terms of family trends and customs young women -and young men - today in getting tattooed may well be following their grandmothers.

I'm not a fan of her tattoo. But that's just because I don't like elephants.
So no her tattoo isn't faith based. As for her grand daughter, she has two tattoos. One for her mom and one for her dad.

Well, it's an individual thing. But it also happens as a family trend. Particularly if she is about contemporary with you, it's not at all surprising that she has had it done by now (more than once, in fact, you said). Though often there is family influence and custom.
You may not know her mom and dad, but maybe they are both inked, as well, well before your friend about your age was?
Such a family trend wouldn't be surprising.

Oh I knew her mom and dad. Her mom didn't have any but boy her dad sure did!
He had a lot. All of his were faith based aswell.

So it was three generations: father, grandmother and granddaughter all tattooed. I guess it's kind of a nice thought really that it was the dad's faith based designs that probably 'blazed the trail' for inking in the family...don't you think?
