The fear of the Lord God almighty was put into me by a similar verse as that. I was a professionally practicing pagan while exploring various other so-called "spiritual" healing paths when God revealed Himself to me; He actually spoke to me and every fibre of my being knew it was God speaking, and yet in my natural self I was so full of disbelief, rebellion and defiance, I did not want to believe it. Awesome!!Great to hear, and I agree with HisUnfailingLove that you're saved and equipped to warn others of where you've been having been there. Sorry, I'm getting tired lol. Did that make sense.. He turned me and my life upside down too... I was into some new age stuff.. And went through some cleansing of it. I looked to new age stuff for healing, I was called to get rid of so much stuff from that life and the teachings I'd gotten into. Yeah, I also put all else aside and just read The Bible. Very Healing, cleansing, getting rid of all that false teaching... Still growing though :-) I'm so happy to hear of God working in others lives, very encouraging and heart warming. I was a bit down today but am lifted up reading you guys testimonies. God Bless you !!

Yes, I had read a lot of new age material also, though some of it was quite disturbing with what seemed like some kind of demonic possession, even though the spirit speaking through them said such lovely sounding things, it went round and round in circles, as worldly philosophies often do. I was also studying with shamans; being around them increased my clairvoyance, but again different things had different meanings depending on what source you looked to, to explain things, and I found that very off putting.

When I turned to some of those same teachers and healers and practitioners to help me understand some of what I experienced that day when God spoke to me, they said things to me like, stories about Jesus are just stories, and God does not really exist. After Jesus appeared to me that same day, and what happened later that night, I could no longer accept at all what they were telling me. However, I remained firmly ensconced on the fence for almost a year after that, but was unable to find answers to my questions anywhere but within the writings of Scripture, and I finally surrendered my life to Him, the lover of my soul.

There are so many opinions on so much these days, it might seem the easier option to not speak up so as to not upset or alienate anyone, but some things are so harmful that not speaking up could be as equivalent to letting someone walk into danger and not warning them of the danger.
I guess I just needed to explain myself. I find it a challenge to raise such things to be honest and I'd appreciate help in how to bring things like this up without pushing someone away as that has happened before, people can get defensive about their beliefs and practices.

You're such a sweetie! Love you my sweet Sista! We're all led in different ways - God uses our individual experiences to edify and encourage one another is all. I too have been exposed to some of the New Age practices - so I too am aware of how harmful and dangerous those things truly are. Not kidding you! God showed me that when you open a door to those things, you are in seeking mode to which satan will accommodate - people are actually opening doors to the enemy with all that stuff and it is very serious indeed! It's another form of bait that the devil uses to draw and suck people in. I make no apologies for saying that!

Yes those philosophies do tend to go round in circles, well sending people round in circles without giving absolute and solid, concrete answers...like its designed to keep people trapped in that cycle to not come to the Truth...
Yes they do sound very nice, gentle, convincing, persuasive - kind of telling us what we wanna hear. Appealing to our wants maybe.... They are deceiving spirits and want to present themselves as angels of light.
RE: those spirits saying those things about Jesus, and God - funny how they exist but they'd try to convince God doesn't, hmmm. That doesn't add up. Yeah I remember getting a bit of that (trying to put me off turning to The Almighty) when I started to question what I was into with regards to new age stuff. It was quite a battle actually but the more I resisted and turned to God, and the Bible, the less power and hold they had over me. God Most High is Faithful.
RE: sitting on the fence. Yes, I can understand how it's not an overnight transition. Takes a lot of courage to come away from all that stuff!! I'm so glad you did :) so glad I did!!! God is so good, Jesus is The Good Shepherd, and He'll go looking for His sheep and bring 'em into the fold. Woooooooo yeah hehe.

And I would encourage anybody who is reading this thread today to press in with prayer and ask the Almighty Himself to show you the way, the truth and the life on this subject - and then have faith that He will show you.

I got 5% on my battery. Plus it's 2am now here. I've really enjoyed being here with you and pleasantly surprised by how fellowship turned out, wow, what happens when believers get together ey... Reminds me of when I went to Church prayer sessions and God really surprised us often hehehe

Amen sis, been strongly led to pray against witchcraft lately, since winter passed actually, I thought I was being, I don't know...

actually nearly posted a prayer request today to ask people to pray against it. Wow, this seems like a confirmation to keep praying and ask believed to come against this awful practice
