John 3 and Water Baptism in the Ministry of Jesus Christ

No I do not. There is no reason to believe that. There is also no reason to think that they had not already been baptized, since that is what Jesus was teaching. I believe that what happened in that room was the special miraculous indwelling of the Spirit, with the sound of a mighty wind...

John 3 and Water Baptism in the Ministry of Jesus Christ

We are saved because of our faith and belief, which includes obedience to God's command to be baptized. Thus we are saved. The reality of salvation is allowed us only through God's grace... the un-merited favor... we don't/can't earn it.... salvation is given to us by God.... so, we ARE...

John 3 and Water Baptism in the Ministry of Jesus Christ

It is your belief that the people at Pentecost were baptized in the Spirit when they heard and believed, "coming to faith"? If that is your belief, why would Peter tell them to repent (turn away from their sins) and be baptized, whereupon they would receive the gift of the indwelling Holy...

John 3 and Water Baptism in the Ministry of Jesus Christ

You can argue about that scripture, and even discount it as possibly having been added at a later date..... but, if you look at every example given in the NT about people being saved and baptized, it is ALWAYS water baptism. Always. That is what baptism MEANT to the ones that heard the word...

John 3 and Water Baptism in the Ministry of Jesus Christ

And, to add to that, if you read any of the apostolic fathers' writings on this subject, they all understood it to mean water baptism... this is from the very people that this teaching was given to. People of the first century... and THEY understood it as water baptism.... as it was meant...

Saturday Night Live "Lady Gaga" summons a demon skit

:ROFL::LOL: Ok @Lynx ... stop with the English stuff. I'm showing my age, I suppose.... I have no problem at all understanding what is said... I could very easily become the "grammar police", but I usually manage to keep my comments to myself. I don't tolerate "street language"...

    The Gun Thread

I finally got a chance to try my handloads in my M1 carbine (1944 Inland) I made the necessary tweaks to the rear sight, to keep it from drifting around, and, for an 81yr old rifle, with my almost 71yr old eyesight, it does pretty good at 50 yards....

Saturday Night Live "Lady Gaga" summons a demon skit

Pretty sure that's not true. Not that I care one way or the other, but every source known to man says that she was born a she, and still is.

Can you be baptized by an unbelieving person?

Hmmm.... I never saw this question, either explicit or begged. Either way, your answer still misses the mark. Minimizing or negating the imperative for baptism by cherry picking a scripture, then saying that it "suggests" that we get the Spirit some other way than baptism is disingenuous, at...

Can you be baptized by an unbelieving person?

You conveniently skip over the precise way the Spirit enters our life.... Just as Peter taught at Pentecost, when Jesus' church was founded.... "repent and be baptized for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit" You are picking individual scriptures...

Can you be baptized by an unbelieving person?

possibly... Personally, I think that John was being a little hyperbolic when describing Jesus' baptism, purposely. I think he was saying, my baptism is only water, but Jesus adds the Spirit and fire.... which I assume described what happened at Pentecost. The 3000 at Pentecost were water...

Can you be baptized by an unbelieving person?

I suppose you would say the same thing about Jesus..... who instructed his disciples to do exactly that.... It was simply because Jesus was Jewish....

Can you be baptized by an unbelieving person?

.... in that story, he was not... look at John 3.... 22 Then Jesus and his disciples left Jerusalem and went into the Judean countryside. Jesus spent some time with them there, baptizing people. 23 At this time John the Baptist was baptizing at Aenon, near Salim, because there was plenty of...

Can you be baptized by an unbelieving person?

Being baptized is not "seeking salvation through works"..... Being baptized is obeying Jesus (God's) commandment. The Jews did not get circumcised in order to "become Jewish".... they did it because it was God's commandment. They did not see it as a "work" they had to do, it was obedience to...

    God, the word, and hunting.

I'm sorry, but there's just too much to unpack and address here. Life is too short. I wish you well in your animal harvesting adventures.

Can you be baptized by an unbelieving person?

Then, I suppose all those people, Jews and Gentiles alike, that saw the essential need for water baptism, (like JESUS taught) were simply misguided, and were doing it wrong? Nowhere does it say that "baptism" is simply being preached to... scripture is very plain about water baptism...

    God, the word, and hunting.

I doubt that. If you are hunting legally, they cannot arrest you. If one did, you have grounds for a lawsuit that most jurisdictions want to avoid at all costs. Hunting is perfectly legal, as long as you follow the regulations and have the proper license. Again, please educate yourself...
