    Staight Path or Rabbit Trail...

good. then you agree this thread is a profitless rabbit trail and there is no need for further discussion. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost (Matthew 28:19)

Why do some people believe and some do not?

just telling you what the scripture literally says, bro. desiring all to be saved isn't the same as saving all, nor does it mention enabling all to seek Him. the parables don't speak of sheep out looking for their lost shepherd, but rather, The Shepherd looking for His lost sheep.

Why do some people believe and some do not?

1 Timothy 2:3-4 says He desires all to be saved, not that He enables all to seek Him. Romans 3:11 tells us no one seeks Him.

Why do some people believe and some do not?

Jesus told us this answer plainly, but a lot of people do not like the answer. John 10:24-30 Then the Jews surrounded Him and said to Him, "How long do You keep us in doubt? If You are the Christ, tell us plainly." Jesus answered them, "I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I...

    Staight Path or Rabbit Trail...

James 4:8, 5:16, 1 John 1:9 but no one is claiming the didache is scripture. however it demonstrates what the church did in the first hundred years.

    Staight Path or Rabbit Trail...

there is no copy of Matthew that does not include 28:19 except one made in 1385. every direct quotation of it in the Church fathers includes the full text. the didache predates the rcc by hundreds of years and reveals that the original church was not terribly picky about the fine details of...

    Staight Path or Rabbit Trail...

water baptism isn't "the faith" - - it's a rite publicly proclaiming ones identity with The Way. that which was first delivered to the saints is a salvation that is by grace on the basis of belief, not of our works but by the work Jesus Christ did on our behalf. what is a man-made tradition...

do you deny the Trinity? if not then what is the problem? what hersey? what falsehood?

    Staight Path or Rabbit Trail...

i don't think you are correct. the didache dates to the first century, some 500 years before the rcc even existed, and cites Matthew 28:19 saying we should baptize in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Why the story of Job occurred in the 6th century.

it is a fallacy to believe something is untrue just because it is widely held, and a fallacy to believe something is true just because almost no one believes it.

Why the story of Job occurred in the 6th century.

good point yes, Matthew 7:24-25 indeed describe Job. his faith was founded on The Rock, see Job 19:23-29 e.g. - such that he did not fall when the wind and the waves came. why did God want Satan to see this, in your opinion? ((re: Job 1:8))

Why the story of Job occurred in the 6th century.

you thought surely my understanding of Job comes from reading many commentaries; that tells me your understanding is that my position is the majority position. but what obscure reading for which you can't point to anyone in particular is yours?

Why the story of Job occurred in the 6th century.

never followed a study guide, period, much less on Job. don't watch YouTube preachers either. at all. my pastor touched in Job 1-2 necessarily a few years ago, because we have been studying Joel for 5 years and obviously the connection to the position of Satan with regard to the other angels...

Why the story of Job occurred in the 6th century.

nope. in university my world literature 4000 level course had this book in it though, and when we were assigned to give a 30 minute presentation on anything in our text for the final, i certainly took the opportunity present scripture, and started studying it. Elihu is amazing, and i still do...

Why the story of Job occurred in the 6th century.

In fact, @tttallison, looking at this passage which actually does concern Satan, sp making of his pride, God says that He cast him down in it - effectively that despite Satan's pride, the LORD is still king over him: Ezekiel 28:17 Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty; you corrupted...

Why the story of Job occurred in the 6th century.

in Job 41 the creature leviathan is being compared to God, in that he is unassailable, unafraid of everything, and no one can stand against him - directly in context because God is using the creature as an example telling Job that it is foolishness to think to stand and confront his Creator...

is this Satan? Psalms 74:12-14 For God [is] my King from of old, Working salvation in the midst of the earth. You divided the sea by Your strength; You broke the heads of the sea serpents in the waters. You broke the heads of Leviathan in pieces, [And] gave him [as] food to the people...
