    The Divine Equation

That law is the Golden Rule. It's definitely not the law of Moses.

    Revelation 3:5

I actually believe that some people think so. Faith becomes a completely passive experience in the belief that GOD does everything. Basically a form of Quietism > Quietism — The Passive Christian Life (btw that author has some great stuff you might like)

Woman can't teach in the congregation

I'm looking at this word occurance in the LXX, and every place it's used (except Genesis 3:16 and 4:7) it means to return or to turn away from. Submission doesn't make sense.

Woman can't teach in the congregation

I think that thread about women wearing pants was started as a joke mocking some other discussions that were happening at the time..
  6. HeRoseFromTheDead

Woman can't teach in the congregation

Totally unlike Paul to refer to a Genesis verse as the law.

GOD'S SABBATH AND THE REAL TRUTH OF COL 2:14-17 WHO DO WE BELIEVE GOD or MAN?

No I don't ever read these long elaborate posts from you or anyone else. If someone can't speak the truth concisely, then they're just trying to hide that they don't know the truth with a lot of words.

GOD'S SABBATH AND THE REAL TRUTH OF COL 2:14-17 WHO DO WE BELIEVE GOD or MAN?

That's not true. Jesus himself told the crowd to do what the pharisees said because they sat in Moses' seat. Jesus also rebuked the pharisees for adding things to the law.

GOD'S SABBATH AND THE REAL TRUTH OF COL 2:14-17 WHO DO WE BELIEVE GOD or MAN?

You remind me of the pharisees who followed Moses, but put his words above Jesus' words thus manifesting their unbelief. Do not think that I will accuse you before the Father! The one who accuses you is Moses, in whom you have put your hope! For if you had believed Moses, you would believe me...

    The Divine Equation

You mentioned the letter (speed limit). The law is the letter. One can do righteousness apart from the letter. The purpose for the speed limit law is to facilitate safe driving. If a person inwardly knows what constitutes safe driving and by nature stays below 100 kph, then he is fulfilling...

    The Divine Equation

Not contradicting myself at all. One can do the righteousness required by the law apart from the letter. Your focus is on earthly things.

    The Divine Equation

Those who sow to the law will reap corruption. Those who sow to the spirit will reap incorruption.
  13. HeRoseFromTheDead

    The Divine Equation

You miss Paul's point entirely. No one is ever justified by the law (except Christ). And grace does not enable us to keep the law, but to walk by the spirit, which fulfills all righteousness demanded by the law (Romans 8:4)
  14. HeRoseFromTheDead

    The Divine Equation

In the first instance Paul stated a fact. In the second he made a rhetorical point regarding those who were under the law, which has nothing to do with anyone under the new covenant. Context is the key.

    Oh goody another OSAS thread!

You are making a connection that is simply not in the text. Nowhere does it say "never knew" means "never created a new life". That's reading into the text.

Woman can't teach in the congregation

It's in all manuscripts. The problems are that it appears in different places depending on the manuscript, which is highly suspect, and there are scribal markings in some manuscripts that indicate scribal concern for their authenticity. Furthermore, those two verses interrupt the flow of 1...

    Revelation 3:5

Irenaeus wrote about heretics in his day who thought that the spiritual gift they had been given could never be taken away from them.

    Revelation 3:5

Non sequiturs. Just because someone gives you something that will last forever doesn't mean that you can't lose it or have it stolen through carelessness or neglect.

GOD'S SABBATH AND THE REAL TRUTH OF COL 2:14-17 WHO DO WE BELIEVE GOD or MAN?

Keeping sabbaths holy was defined as not working on those days. That is all.

Woman can't teach in the congregation

A simpler conclusion is that Paul didn't write the verse. There is compelling evidence for that, but zero evidence for what you are suggesting.
