    Feeling discouraged but holding on....

Thanks for your message and your prayer @oyster67 I'm doing much better tonight, just 2 more shifts on this rotation. Its always a good day when I attend worship, I go to an awesome church. And while this forum doesn't replace real live human content, its still fellowship, and overwhelmingly...

    Feeling discouraged but holding on....

When I was driving in yesterday, just as I was pulling in to my workplace this was the song that came on.....same theme as 'In The Eye of The Storm' that I heard earlier....such an awesome message when life starts throwing challenges in my way:

    Feeling discouraged but holding on....

Thank you all for the thoughts, prayers and encouragement. @crmvet, thank you for that Psalm reference, I really have to dive deeper into the Psalms, there are words for every situation just in that book. That verse is so true, there is light even in the darkness. @Bingo my journey back has...

    Jordan Peterson in the news.....

Well put....rather than using the word fascism as the junction where extreme right and left meet I should have used totalitarianism, its more on point....but at 8 syllables long, it is a little unwieldy :)

    Back pain.

I pray your back gets better Mii, I have been having back trouble as well....although not as bad, mine is sciatica and its pain that radiates down my leg, but I'm still able to function. Lord I pray that you'll relieve Mii's pain and discomfort and free Mii from having to lie in bed....all...

    Feeling discouraged but holding on....

I don't like to ask for help, I prefer to be the one helping. And asking for prayer....its asking for help. I don't have any problem with asking God for help, I do it practically every day, but asking others to pray for me....its not something I'm used to doing. I am going through a bad...

    Jordan Peterson in the news.....

I often look at the political spectrum of right and left as being a circle, with extreme left and right meeting at the junction of Fascist Avenue....regardless of whether its the state or corporations using the state, the end result is the same....bondage.

    Bible versions-Is there only one?

Point well made, Aramaic Greek and Hebrew....and perhaps more.

    Bible versions-Is there only one?

The point I was making with my appreciation for the language of the KJV was a personal one....we all know that Jesus spoke Aramaic, not English or even the ancient Greek the Gospels were written in. I've found language has become, more familiar and less formal in tone as the years have gone...

    Bible versions-Is there only one?

Guilty as charged.....when it comes to ice cream though, I like vanilla :)

    Jordan Peterson in the news.....

Fair enough...in point of fact, if I look back at my own life experience, in many ways I would have characterized myself as a liberal minded person, but more in the classical sense of the word. With that being said the extreme elements of the left pushed me right, and they keep pushing. But I...

    Bible versions-Is there only one?

I have to admit to having some affinity for the language of the KJV, the more formal terms like thee and thou....to me they add weight and signficance to the words I'm reading or saying. A great example of this is the 23rd Psalm. To me the meaning is the same whether its the KJ, Revised...

    Jordan Peterson in the news.....

I don't think Peterson actually has any interest in making someone look like a fool....although that might be the end result, but its hardly a charitable characteristic to wish others to be made to look foolish. What Peterson seems to want to get at, as I see it, is ultimate truth. And by my...

    Jordan Peterson in the news.....

Its often said that intellectuals are highly prone to mental conditions like depression....and I think I can understand why. Peterson for example strikes me as someone who desperately wants to reason EVERYTHING out, to understand things at the deepest and most fundamental levels. But how do...

    Jordan Peterson in the news.....

I did a search for Jordan Peterson and was surprised that there were no threads with him in the subject line. There are two pages worth of posts that include his name, one of them my own. But given his rise to celebrity status I'm surprised there isn't a single thread on him and the...

    Things salespeople say....

I'm enjoying reading the banter between you two laughing and lynx.....my mother was a huge fan of Bombeck as well, although I never read anything by her, for the same reason I have an aversion to eating quiche probably. The book I remember my mom remarking on often was 'If life is a bowl of...

    Copying the Bible by hand....

While I understand the sentiment you're expressing, or at least I think I do, and believe it has a lot of merit....I equally think there is much to be said for the act of writing down the Bible by hand. Long story....which starts like this. Back in grade 7 we'd just moved back to Canada from...

    Copying the Bible by hand....

No, I hadn't even thought of that myself...there are so many differing translations as we all know.

    Seeking Biblical contradictions.

I apologize, I wasn't meaning to refer to you specifically....I see it in terms of the broader culture, and I get contradictions tossed at me all the time by friends and colleagues...as in 'how can you believe the Bible when....yada yada yada'. I think there are lots of people out there, who...

    Seeking Biblical contradictions.

Personally I don't worry about it....I don't expect perfection from anything wrought of human hands, even that which has divine inspiration. I do realize that many will seek any flaw, perceived or otherwise, and upon finding one will use it as an excuse to tear down an entire structure.
