Media failing us again, sensationalizing Covid-19

EH, you're calling me a liar, how very charitbable of you. But I can easily share the report, I've shared it on my Fbk profile along with my commentary...

Media failing us again, sensationalizing Covid-19

In our polarized world, not any more....or not much. I did hook my computer up to the TV to watch CBC's morning news before tuning into my church's streamed service this morning, and I was rolling my eyes. The music, the language, the tone.....it all said: "BE AFRAID, BE VERY VERY AFRAID"...

Media failing us again, sensationalizing Covid-19

I'm not a big Trump fan....sometimes he does deserve to be criticized, all politicans should be able to accept criticism, but Trump's skin is tissue paper thin. But you're right, a lot of the time the criticism is over the top and at times outright fraudulent....if this outbreak ends up being...

Media failing us again, sensationalizing Covid-19

I hardly watch any broadcast news, most of what I see is on-line from mainstream news outlets, and I can fact check everything..... When I found out that governments like in Canada and the US were putting the economy into a coma based on a report issued by the Imperial College of London I went...

Media failing us again, sensationalizing Covid-19

Nobody likes death. Christians are taught to be compassionate, we're exhorted to love our neighbors and to welcome the stranger, feed the hungry and more. But death is also a part of life, everyone is suffering from a terminal disease called life and the mortality rate is 100%. In the United...

Media failing us again, sensationalizing Covid-19

The reaction is overblown....in Canada 2,000 people die each year in car accidents, another 10,000 on top of that are seriously injured. Does that mean we shut down all motor vehicle traffic, and feign disgust toward anyone who doesn't agree?

Want to beat the coronavirus? Reopen America now

There has always been trade, with tarrifs and like measures used to maintain viable domestic industries, be it in manufacturing or agriculture or whatever. What country reasonably wants to destroy its farmers or capacity to produce products.....thus putting its economy at the mercy of foreign...

Want to beat the coronavirus? Reopen America now

We don't know where we are yet, anyone who claims otherwise is talking out of their nether regions. A study published out of Oxford University in England estimates that as many as 50% of Britains may have already been infected and recovered. Likewise there's a Nobel Prize winning scientist who...

Want to beat the coronavirus? Reopen America now

So far the impact of Covid-19 is a fraction of what a bad flu season brings. Almost 25,000 people died during the 2016/2017 flu season in Italy....we shall see if the number of Covid-19 deaths climb by about 150% and approach what would be considered a bad flu season. Of course even during a...

Want to beat the coronavirus? Reopen America now

I will say this much. I have never been a big fan of Donald Trump, however as a Canadian I have no say in the upcoming American election. With that being said I do like some of the things Trump has done, cancelling the Trans Pacific Trade deal comes immediately to mind, as an Old-Line Liberal...

Want to beat the coronavirus? Reopen America now

Perhaps you think the extrodinary measures being taken to combat the CoronaVirus, that they should be employed every year during the flu season, which starts Oct 1 according to the CDC and then peters out in March and April. As things currently stand the US is reporting about 85,000 cases of...

Want to beat the coronavirus? Reopen America now

It is like it, don't just make blanket statements as if they're fact and not provide anything to substantiate your POV, that's what Trump's detractors say he and his supporters do. Here's an article with some facts, there are many similarities...the difference is that Covid-19 does not as yet...

Want to beat the coronavirus? Reopen America now

Let's use Italy and influenza to see how bad this is. During the 2016/2017 flu season the International Journal of Infectious Diseases (IJID) estimates that almost 25,000 Italians died from the flu. Right now Italy's death toll from Covid-19 is estimated to be approaching 10,000....so putting...

Media failing us again, sensationalizing Covid-19

I'm very disappointed in MSM outlets and their reporting of the Covid-19 pandemic, not surprised, but still disappointed. As I write this we're being told that the number of dead in Italy is fast approaching the 10,000 mark. Okay....but is that bad? Not if you compare it to the death toll of...

    Feeling discouraged but holding on....

    A little food for thought.

Worrying about how things such as this are possible is the result if one insists on interpreting the Bible literally, as if a reporter was there taking down events and reporting them as history. There's much deeper meaning to much of what is written in Genesis in my opinion.

    Back pain.

I've been sleeping with a pillow between my legs to take the pressure off my hips. I tell ya, I wish there was a button I could hit to restore my body to the original factory settings.

    A little food for thought.

What lesson is there in this question that would help a person learn about God or deepen a relationship with Him?

    Hi!

I stumbled onto this site through a google search. I work shifts, right now I'm on a 12 hour night shift.....and I can only read so many news stories and watch so many videos. There's only one other professed Christian here at work, and she works on a different schedule than me.....this site...

    Divorced christian

I am divorced and remarried....and if I might be so bold as to offer some advice, I think I have some thoughts that might help. Firstly I would suggest not to concern yourself with how the people at church view you...everyone has struggles and while we're called to treat others with grace...
