At what point in our salvation is the blood of Christ applied?

Do you have to believe in his name to be saved, or is it just believing in him that saves someone? Like would it just be enough if someone believed Jesus was the Son of God to be saved? The language in John 3 seems like you just need to believe in him.

At what point in our salvation is the blood of Christ applied?

Does this mean that Jesus died to take the punishment for our sins and that anyone who believe in him is forgiven of all their sins because Jesus took the punishment for them? Or is it saying that if you believe that he died to take the punishment for our sins then you are forgiven them? Awhile...

Am I correct with my understanding of this? Faith in Jesus alone = salvation

There are two ways I can read Romans 3:25 in the KJV. Both kind of hard to express in writing, but one allows for my notion that belief in Jesus (as the Son of God) = salvation, and one requires that you have faith "in his blood". The way the ESV is translated seems to favour my way of reading...

Am I correct with my understanding of this? Faith in Jesus alone = salvation

Interesting. What do you think of Romans 3:25? Don't you think that it indicates that we have to believe that Jesus received the punishment for our sins (death) in order to be saved? Romans 3:21-26 KJV 21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law...

Am I correct with my understanding of this? Faith in Jesus alone = salvation

Why exactly do you think OSAS is not true? I see the argument for it, namely what it says in Hebrews 10:26 and I think another place in Hebrews, but there seems to be staunch argument against the view (that I never really quite understood).

Am I correct with my understanding of this? Faith in Jesus alone = salvation

Ah well, Romans 3:25 says that he (Jesus) is a propitiation set forth by God through faith in his blood. I've been kind of ignoring the implication of these things but I suppose you must believe that Jesus received the punishment for our sins, death. I don't understand how Romans 10:9 in the NIV...

Am I correct with my understanding of this? Faith in Jesus alone = salvation

Right, that's my attempt to harmonize it, to just go with what it says in John 3, since it disqualifies what Mark 16 is saying, since Mark 16 is saying something extra (that you must believe the gospel and not just in him). I think both things are true, but I suppose that the Apostles were given...

Am I correct with my understanding of this? Faith in Jesus alone = salvation

So in Mark 16 it says this, 15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. So then someone has to believe the gospel to be saved, and it's not just in...

Am I correct with my understanding of this? Faith in Jesus alone = salvation

Which would include that he is the Son of God? This is all that I can gather from a reading of John 3:14-18 (KJV) when reading it honestly and not trying to bend words into it. What I am struck by is 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 and to a smaller extent Romans 3:21-26 and Romans 10:9, which seem to put a...

Questions about Matthew 26:28 and Hebrews 9:22 (purpose of Jesus' death, how someone is saved)

Matthew 26:28 (KJV) For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. Hebrews 9:22 (KJV) And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission. Is the correct understanding from these verses that Jesus...

    Reconciling the different resurrection accounts

Just wondering if anyone has a good view on this? This is something I struggle with, reconciling the different resurrection accounts. Matthew 28 and John 20 for instance present two different accounts which are seemingly contradictory. I have trouble harmonizing them or reconciling them, though...

    Blasphemy against holyspirit

Hi Naveen. I've struggled with this. To the best of my knowledge though you cannot commit this sin today as it was only possible for those who were present when the Holy Spirit was at work on the earth through Jesus. I think the sin may be blaspheming against him while he was at work through...

"The chastisement of our peace was upon him"

Is this synonymous with saying Jesus was punished for our sins? Or does chastisement connotate another meaning other than punishment?

Is it enough to just believe in Jesus?

Do you think the Gospel According to John lays it out succinctly? I find my sister says that you need to "receive Jesus" and maybe other things, other people saying similar things possibly (I think these sayings might be popular in the "church"), while in the Gospel According to John it's...

We will be like the angels, not being neither female or male.

Well the scripture says that people will be like the angels in heaven, so I think the natural conclusion is that there is no marriage, since they are presumably unmarried. I don't really get it myself.

We will be like the angels, not being neither female or male.

I think it just means that they won't marry, like the angels in heaven don't marry.

Is it enough to just believe in Jesus?

Or must you believe on his name? I read the KJV and have trouble with this. At the end of the Gospel According to John it says that the signs written about are there so that you might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you might have life through his name. The...

We will be like the angels, not being neither female or male.

Also did you mean that in the first resurrection we will neither marry nor be given in marriage (not be neither male nor female), if I got that right? (looked at Matthew 22:30 KJV on BibleGateway, but it might have an error in it or something since I'm not taking it directly from the Bible)

We will be like the angels, not being neither female or male.

I'm actually not sure if they all joined the Devil afterward. I just know the Devil apparently has angels. I assume they would be these ones that left their first estate, assuming these are the ones that indeed married the daughters of men in Genesis.

We will be like the angels, not being neither female or male.

I don't think there are female angels. There are angels that are still in heaven and I believe angels that left their first estate and married the daughters of men, these angels are those that joined the Devil afterwards I believe (though I'm not entirely sure about this) (Revelation 12 KJV -...
