Good luck finding a perfect pastor.

    The Error of KJV-Onlyism

No issues here. The more one digs, the more rabbit trails come into view. Biblical history is not nearly as clean-cut as we would like. I am confident that what we have is darn close. I do enjoy studying and have a friend with a huge library that spent several years in seminary to learn Greek...

    Billy Graham's last message

God has used a multitude of personalities, less than perfect, to share the Gospel.

    The Error of KJV-Onlyism

I am still in the midst of relearning a few things I once studied some time ago. See if you agree with this summation: https://christianity.stackexchange.com/questions/13867/how-did-augustine-of-hippo-feel-about-jeromes-latin-translation-of-the-bible-t

    Billy Graham's last message

What is your view of salvation? Is it a moment in time when one finally places their trust in the gospel, or something different? Billy was an evangelist, not a pastor.

    The Error of KJV-Onlyism

I think I understand your reluctance to acknowledge an accurate modern copy of the LXX. However, there seems that there did exist during the time of Jesus a Greek translation of at least the first five books. Several early church figures speak of it in detail. The reasoning goes that if the...

    The Error of KJV-Onlyism

Here is a decent link for info on the LXX. I think I may have put the cart before the horse in my previous assertions. I am taking some time to dig deeper into this issue. https://kalvesmaki.com/LXX/index.htm

    The Error of KJV-Onlyism

A better question might be, why did the Apostles write much of the NT in Koine? What is your reasoning in calling the LXX corrupt?

    The Error of KJV-Onlyism

Maybe not to your satisfaction. I have studied this issue for quite some time and trust some of the scholars that did the actual research. Here is a summary of what I have found; The Septuagint (LXX), the Greek translation of the Hebrew Old Testament, plays a significant role in the New...

    The Error of KJV-Onlyism

Jesus was the best teacher. He used parables, idioms, and examples to explain what a verse meant. Seems a good way to convey the meaning behind a verse, rather than a rigid literal dogmatic approach.

    the Sabbath

Ironic is a wonderful word. It reminds me of the story an old friend told me: He said a Pastor was speaking on “sinless perfection,” and asked his congregation did anyone there live a sinless life. A man in the back was the only one to stand. The Pastor waited a few moments and asked, sir, you...

    The Error of KJV-Onlyism

That was exactly my point. Paul and the other Apostles quoted mostly from the Septuagint, as did Jesus. Why, because that was the common language of their time. Kinda makes sense, doesn’t it? I love the KJV. I have used and studied it for many decades. I think often in the old English. However...

    The Error of KJV-Onlyism

I guess you mean it is not ok to paraphrase a verse.

    The Error of KJV-Onlyism

Let me see. If one only uses the KJV, is it only permissible to quote it exactly as written, or can one put on their thinking cap and paraphrase a verse or verses for an individual audience?

    Billy Graham's last message

I went with my church as a young lad in Chicago, to listen to him. I think it was about 1960.

At what point does a spirited defense morph into arrogance? Asking for a friend.

    Fear

Ok. I assumed, or hoped anyone that read this could see I was distinguishing between the two types of fear. God is the only one we should fear. There is a healthy type of fear, that transcends the emotional type most humans speak of.
