    Courtship...Broken Courtship

And yes, God is the final authority. I believe we ought to obey God rather than men, as the disciples in Acts said. But you know Sarah was praised in Hebrews as being a woman of faith, and she submitted even when Abraham told her to tell a half-truth which almost resulted in her being taken as...

True. Submit yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

    Courtship...Broken Courtship

I don't know why so many Christian women don't like the idea of submission. Is it the culture coming into the church? Biblical submission is beautiful; it's all for our good.

    Nonresistance

Thank you all for sharing your thoughts. @oyster67, I like what you brought up about following in the steps of Jesus who when He was reviled, reviled not again, etc. Do you think this may have more to do with being persecuted rather than defending yourself or others against someone who is...

Ha but this one doesn't get the lyrics right. The part on the thumbnail actually goes, "Little widowed mother" I think.

Honest question....why don't churches teach the best way to avoid fornication is to get married?

Maybe it won't be blessed but it's recognized by God cuz it's a covenant before Him.

How does a Christian keep the Sabbath Holy?

I think they met often, not necessarily only on the first day of the week. And even still, there is no biblical mention of the sanctity transferring from the 7th to the 1st day of the week. I agree there is great freedom in Christ. Let everyone be fully persuaded in his own mind.

How does a Christian keep the Sabbath Holy?

It is well to remind the Presbyterians, Baptists, Methodists, and all other Christians, that the Bible does not support them anywhere in their observance of Sunday. Sunday is an institution of the Roman Catholic Church, and those who observe the day observe a commandment of the Catholic Church...

    Nonresistance

What are your thoughts on Matthew 5:38-45: 38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: 39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. 40 And if any man will sue thee at the...

Honest question....why don't churches teach the best way to avoid fornication is to get married?

I think it's obvious what Paul is saying here. Look at the mercy shown to the one who sinned in the Corinthian church. But do we sin that grace may abound? God forbid. "Whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him." 1 John 3:6 b. Of course we as Christian will sin at times! God is rich...

I love this book! She had so much wisdom. Granted, they weren't married long at all, (I think around 2 1/2 years? because of Jim's death) but yes they had a very godly relationship before they were married. I don't think you'd even call it a courtship or dating hardly, but they were in love 5...

    Courtship...Broken Courtship

Thanks for sharing, that was interesting. I do realize it's not uncommon to get cold feet when you're about to get married. But as much as I sought the Lord about it I'm quite sure He would have revealed to me if it was just me. Yes my dad would require the young man to come to him for...

To your first question, his family was heavily influenced by the Seventh Day Adventists, and although there were some doctrines I agreed with, some I definitely did not. What I mainly hope other young people can glean is to learn from my mistake of going ahead before really having peace about...

Honest question....why don't churches teach the best way to avoid fornication is to get married?

No I don't think so unless I was desperate lol. Or maybe if I lived in the Regency era and I was 27, no fortune, and frightened like Charlotte Lucas and a Mr. Collins came along lol.. No but seriously. If so many women aren't attracted to you there may be an underlying problem.
