Someone just before your post stated its not license (to sin), but it is freedom (to sin) that the grace of God affords one to do whatever they do. Do you not see how perverse this type of rationale is?

All have missed and fall short, but that is not an excuse to cease trying. We are to continue trying to hit the mark and overcome our lower nature. Some here take the scripture you posted, among others out of context, claiming them to mean something like: Don't worry, It's OK that you continue...

Prior to the Lord's sacrifice of Himself on the cross, I was powerless to refrain from my bondage to sinning. After His sacrifice on the cross, I am now no longer bound by sin to continue sinning (should I so choose of my own free will). So I will either choose not to leave my sinning, and thus...

I agree that we currently cannot totally cease from sin, but we are to sacrifice our carnal inclinations so that we may be acceptable to God (Romans 12:1). And like I claimed to you in my previous post, many here simply do not want to refrain from their love for this world, and use the excuse...

There are many on these forums who claim that attempting to not sin constitutes a works for salvation attempt. I on the other hand believe most of these individuals who make such a claim, simply do not want to leave their sins.

How can a corrupt tree that sins often, produce good fruit? It can't. Matthew 7:17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. Luke 6:43 For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

We are to overcome our carnal inclinations, and the Lord's sacrifice makes this possible for those of us who wish to take advantage and leave our sins to which we were previously bound. So yes, I do believe that ceasing from sinning is fruit of the Spirit, but only its basic first result...

Yeah, I didn't really clarify my point well in the OP. What I was saying is that while many see not sinning as a work in order to attain salvation, I on the other hand do not see refraining from sinning as a work. Someone else, however, pointed out Romans 12:1 where Paul does mention our...

According to Romans 8:7, the spirit is at odds with the flesh. As such, if you believe in the flesh and sin, you are then at odds with the spirit of God. The gospel of Christ is to love God and love your neighbor. These are spiritual qualities and belief.

I do believe that the Lord expects us to do good works, from a heart that honestly loves our neighbor. This is like the Samaritan in Luke 10, who felt and had compassion for the half dead man on the road. He did not do this to do a good work, he did it because love for his neighbor was in his heart.

Yes, to be made acceptable to God is through Christ. This means to believe in what Christ believes, which is the spirit, and things of the spirit, that are non carnal. If you believe in carnal world living, you then do not believe in Christ, no matter what you may claim otherwise.

What do you think being conformed to the world means, other than accepting the carnal as OK. Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

If we are already acceptable to God when we don't leave our sins, then are we doubly acceptable to God when we leave our sins? Romans 8:7 clearly indicates enmity between those who live for their flesh (sins). We are then not acceptable to the Lord if we do not leave our sins. Romans 8:7...

We are to overcome our sins so that we may become acceptable to God. Revelation 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

Romans 12:1 seems conditional to me and indicates that we become acceptable to the Lord when we leave our sins. Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

Global warming theory is "false science"

Did you all also know that the Northern hemisphere should now be entering in a new glaciation period, but instead we are heading in the opposite direction? Over the 500,000 or so years, glaciation events have lasted a little over 100,000 years that were then followed by an interglacial period...

Agreed, we are to be in personal relationship with the Lord who is love. Being so will eventually show up in our actions. Where as those who are not in a personal relationship with the Spirit of love, are they whose actions are iniquity.

When the Lord says He "never" knew those workers of iniquity; He is telling those individuals that He, the only begotten son of God who is Love (1 John 4: 8 & 16), that they never knew Love. In all their supposed good works they never acted in love for their neighbor. In contrast to those who...

An original definition of sin was where when someone aimed at a target and missed, it was a sin. Basically, to sin is to miss the correct target in life. As such, I can agree with your claim that failing to do good works is to miss the mark.

I agree that we all currently sin, but we are also to continue attempting to overcome our carnal inclinations (sins). Those of us who earnestly continue attempting to overcome their carnal inclinations (sins), the Lord I believe will deliver them. Then there are those who use the excuse that...
