I may have hot fiery anger toward people who purposefully do this. But sometimes people do have urges we can't explain. What I'm saying is all I care about is if the person with those urges is genuinely trying to be better and do better.

Good question. Like I said, this person was genuinely trying to get help. He didn't want to do something so awful and knew he had urges that needed to be addressed.

People with mental illness already have a stigma on them. People who purposefully abuse kids can be very smart about covering it up. Clearly, they're not mentally ill.

It's because we want to apply blame to something else. The person's upbringing for example. After all, people couldn't possibly do terrible things with no remorse, if not getting joy out of it.
