Can no longer separate sex from sin

And since your posts tended to come after some that were sarcastic, I probably made some false assumptions. Thank you though.

    I'll hold you to that.

Can no longer separate sex from sin

I can't always tell when someone's joking or not.

Can no longer separate sex from sin

Just because I'm a Christian and love God doesn't mean I love everything he does. I love my parents but I don't love everything they do. If I never marry, then having a sex drive is completely pointless. No one is going to convince me otherwise. I just hope he knew that in making us this way...

Can no longer separate sex from sin

I'm simply saying, if you want Christians to truly be satisfied with God, quit idolizing marriage and the nuclear family. Paul himself wouldn't be able to get a position simply because he wasn't married.

    Is that sarcasm I'm detecting?

Can no longer separate sex from sin

One more thing, I'm sick of this idea of finding "satisfaction" with God when, in both society and the church, romance and marriage is held up as the pinnacle of human existence. We're taught this (if indirectly) literally all our lives. And now we're just supposed to settle with God if we...

Can no longer separate sex from sin

Case 1: The human body does not adjust well to abstinence. I'm living proof. I'm a 25-year-old virgin. I've never even been kissed. And yet I daily have sexual fantasies (about no one in particular). Why? 'Cause that's the age when the sex drive is at its highest. And since I'm not guaranteed...

A "Personal Relationship" with God is not biblical

It's not that people on the spectrum don't have emotions. If anything, we feel more than most people do. But I've seen what happens when people choose feelings over facts. I've never "felt" love because no one has ever loved me like that, but I've known love and know what it is.

A "Personal Relationship" with God is not biblical

Yeah, well, everyone does that to some extent. But I suppose there is a benefit to never having experienced love in any other way, because I'm not going to let my emotions cloud my judgment. People also use this "relationship" theology to coerce people into all kinds of abuse. If I ever found...

A "Personal Relationship" with God is not biblical

For one thing, marriages were about economics rather than love. They involved the whole community rather than just those two people. And arranged marriages even now tend to do better and last longer than love based marriages. What are you gonna do when that romantic high disappears?

A "Personal Relationship" with God is not biblical

I'm used to getting pushback, and I'm used to being misunderstood. That's what happens when you're on the spectrum. I've explained what it's like before, but I'm going to say it here. As someone on the spectrum, relationships, or at least the emotional component of them, are not an easy thing...

Perhaps, but societies always change over time.

A "Personal Relationship" with God is not biblical

The modern hymn calls Jesus a "friend" and some may appeal to a verse in John where Jesus calls his disciples "friends". But the understanding of the word is decontextualized. People of the time of the Bible did not "get to know" each other as modern persons in the West do. A "friend" meant a...

A "Personal Relationship" with God is not biblical

I know people on this site who know they're saved by grace and did everything they were told to do in order to have a relationship with God, but they never felt emotionally close to him like that, for years.
