    Someone is in Big Trouble

No, John saw oil fed lamps on lampstands as symbolism of leaders. Not candlesticks. John said lychnias which means oil fed lampstands. They did not use candlesticks until a thousand years later. If one cares about word for word accuracy they will care about this and will reject the word...

Is a doctrinal statement or the Scriptures the starting point for your church?

Well that's good. People that agree with them can find them. People who don't can avoid them. See it works out. :)

    Someone is in Big Trouble

There is plenty of information written about it. I would start by looking at some of the footnotes in commentaries to lead to reliable resources to read about it. A Google search will yield good resources but you have to be patient and sift through a lot of ignorance to find scholarly papers...

    Someone is in Big Trouble

I would read the explanations presented by manuscript experts on the verse in Rev 1 if I really wanted to find the best answers. Even the manuscripts that the KJV scholars used did not say "candlesticks" in Revelation but they added it anyway. So according to your logic they took away the word...

Is a doctrinal statement or the Scriptures the starting point for your church?

I have never heard of a denomination or a church that mentions the KJV in a statement of faith. Do you know of one? It is usually something to the effect of "we believe in the inspiration of the word of God as written in the original languages and autographs (manuscripts.) Statements of...

What would Jesus do if a demon came to him for forgiveness?

demons don't repent. Nor do those in hell. And heaven would not be heaven to a demon or the wicked dead. They have no interest in anything but sin.

Is a doctrinal statement or the Scriptures the starting point for your church?

I don't know who you are addressing. Click reply on the post you are replying to. It helps. Chester and I have not been arguing about anything. None of our conversation has been about who is right or wrong. It is a discussion. As to the English definition of a Christian denomination you...

Is a doctrinal statement or the Scriptures the starting point for your church?

Each church has a history. Did the pastor just feel the call to start a Not in the English definition of the word. It's a complex topic. Each church has to be considered on it's own. What is the history, how did it start.

Is a doctrinal statement or the Scriptures the starting point for your church?

No. But they might have a statement of faith and that list might be similar to an existing denomination.

Is a doctrinal statement or the Scriptures the starting point for your church?

I have read many of the best presentations from a long list of scholars on cessationism and they are just awful. It is not hard to concede to the presentations of the scholarly continuationists. The scriptures are very verbose on the subject. Most cessationist don't even present all the text...

It is more like Taking A Stand on controversial interpretations. They discussed the scriptures before they developed the statements.

    Sense And Nonsense...

I don't understand your logic that reading a commentary is "trusting the opinion of men." You can chose to reject any interpretation that you don't agree with. There is no "trusting" that has to be done.

    Sense And Nonsense...

Reading the scriptures will give you an opinion. That is ok. But there is no guarantee that your opinion is the right one just because you DID NOT reference a commentary. Since writers have been discussing it for centuries there is a good chance that referencing what has been said will be...
