    Who is receiving the Spirit?

Hold on.. these are two very different passages.. what is the context/setting of each? For eg.. the Galatians were Jewish Christians who needed to know putting old ways behind them. Giving up Judaism. The Corinthians were different people who had pagan influence and Paul was admonishing them...

    Who is receiving the Spirit?

Well .. it's true God didn't dictate, and it was thru the writers own style, but it is still exactly what God wanted to be written. It is unblemished, infallible, inerrant in that way.

    Who is receiving the Spirit?

First thing.. 'perfect' in the bible.. usually has the meaning of 'lacking nothing necessary for completeness' or 'maturity' rather than sinless/imperfectionless Next thing-- what are you saying isn't perfect? For Paul.. the inspired scriptures.. completed would most certainly be perfect! In...

    Who is receiving the Spirit?

Whatever is perfect completes that partial..it is the complete swallowing up or finishing something partial. In this passage, it is the gifts of prophecy, tongues and knowledge. The biblical meaning of perfect is also maturity, completion. That is how it is in English grammar in tenses-- 'the...

    Who is receiving the Spirit?

Another scripture is Ephesians 4. Like 1 co 13... alone it isn't enough to support cessationism, but together with other scripture it does support it. So.. like 1 co 13...there is a point at which the gifts (in this case supernaturally empowered ministry gifts) come to a point of finishing and...

    Who is receiving the Spirit?

Yes, again corporate empowerment from the Holy Spirit as entire groups receive Him, rather than individual indwelling in question. I will agree to disagree.

    Who is receiving the Spirit?

Okay.. so 1 Corinthians 13.. is about something complete finishing and maturing what is partial. The 'perfect' in the biblical sense of the word most times refers to maturity.. lacking nothing rather than sinlessness.. unless the context is about God. So that's one part of it. The next thing...

    Who is receiving the Spirit?

Well.. usually baptism of the Holy Ghost is not associated with water baptism.. but Acts 19 is baptism by immersion in water..seeing its given by someone else.. THEN the Spirit is received. A group of disciples, who believed through grace, who get baptised in the right name of Jesus, the...

    Who is receiving the Spirit?

Well the question is how these disciples who believed through grace.. could not have also been individually indwelt? Going thru other scripture it is clear indwelling happens at belief on the Lord Jesus Christ. So the receiving of the Holy Spirit here must be corporate, as a group.

    Who is receiving the Spirit?

Salvation itself is very simple. Believing Jesus is God, that He died and rose again, that He can forgive you. That by believing in Him, you have forgiveness of sins and everlasting life. This is often expressed through talking to God from the heart. Romans 10:9-10 shows this. Also John 3:16...

    The Security Of The Believer

Oh no.. I'm saying the Gentiles in this verse are Christian. You misunderstood. I'm saying someone who is converted..you go back to old ways is worse because they know differently..whereas the lost person is just going on the same polluted track. But there is a key thing with the context here...

    The Security Of The Believer

I think when people look at judgment verses they don't go deep enough into it to see who is being judged and what kind of judgment. So when they see the verses like in 2 Peter of Gentiles who have escaped the pollution of the world thru the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ and then go back to...

    Who is receiving the Spirit?

Amen, thank you for that testimony. When I say it's all Him and not us.. I mean we still ask/call for salvation. But that when it happens it's not our commitment to Him.. but His to us. So it's not salvation coming from us, but from Him. Anyway, God bless and thank you.

    Who is receiving the Spirit?

Well it's not that trivial..it's gotta be salvation all from Him..not us. But I will leave it there.

    Who is receiving the Spirit?

You've got earning salvation mixed I here. Before getting converted there is nothing we can do as works that will get us saved because we are dead in sin. So with these Acts passages, you gotta look at when exactly the individual receiving is. It is not earned or giving because of obedience...

    Who is receiving the Spirit?

How do you 'make' Him Lord and Saviour? He is Lord and Saviour.. I know that. Isn't He saving you rather than you making Him into something? I know sometimes these words are just semantics, but salvation has gotta be all coming from Him when we ask for it..not us. He gives eternal life, He...

    Who is receiving the Spirit?

Right. So.. are you saying the 'in the midst' presence is the same as indwelling or is empowerment?

    Who is receiving the Spirit?

Well.. if Jesus dwells in the midst of a group of believers, a church, how is this presence received?

    Who is receiving the Spirit?

Well then it comes down to what gift is being received. They could have all got baptised and then the Holy Spirit dwelt amongst them 'in their midst '. The other way to look at it.. is the baptism conditional on the receiving? Because it isn't in plenty of other places. The negative of...
