Christians need to continue to repent of their sins

Yes, but a Moderator elsewhere calling himself something like "Right Divider" has a great difficulty doing just that ... He says the Word was Jesus from the beginning of creation. So, I said his translation of John 1:14 must be ... "... and the Word (Jesus) became flesh-human-Jesus." A cute...

Christians need to continue to repent of their sins

As we can see from the OP, once is NOT enough!

Christians need to continue to repent of their sins

Gee, your opinion is wonderful ... but what about the verses in the OP? News Flash Christian forums are filled with people's opinions, butski most of them refuse to deal with the Scriptures! IMO, this is a most sad state of affairs indeed.

Where Did Our Faith Come From?

God opens people’s eyes “But God has opened the eyes of those called to salvation, both Jews and Gentiles, to see that Christ is the mighty power of God to save them …” (1 Corinthians 1:24, Living Bible) The translators stand against Arminian theology … when they write that God opens...

A Closer Look at God’s Election

Here’s a trinity of passages teaching us that Christians need to continue to repent of their on-going sins … “Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that your sorrow led to repentance … For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted …” (2...

Where Did Our Faith Come From?

Yes, it's all about what the Spirit of God does (and to whom)!

    Former pentecostal

A few years back, I was convinced that MOST of the old denominations had finally come to believe "that which is perfect" was referring to Jesus. Why don't you check with some of them ... and see if this is still true?

God's Elect: This Ends Any Debate

Yes, even the elect-chosen-called have the free will to backslide. However, many NT verses promise that God will get them to heaven. The Lord is God Almighty, all-powerful, etc. and He knows how to accomplish His will.

God's Elect: This Ends Any Debate

You are spot on! ... except IMO, some pastors are themselves deceived, so perhaps are not as guilty as many others whose big priority is to build up a "successful" church ... which pays the mortgage, utilities, many salaries, etc.

Where Did Our Faith Come From?

Yes, this is a stumbling block to the election doctrine I found in the NT. However, this problem does not stand alone ... several major NT doctrines have 2 sides to the story, e.g. OSAS vs. anti-OSAS.

Where Did Our Faith Come From?

OK, just for example, what about Lydia? This worshiper of God needed God to intervene in her life so she would have the ability to believe in Paul's gospel.

Where Did Our Faith Come From?

Did we create our own faith … and then believe in Jesus and the Gospel? Or, did it come from somewhere else … like from God? Jude 3 “… the FAITH which was once for all delivered to the saints.” (NKJV) “… the FAITH that God has entrusted once for all time to His holy people.” (NLT) “… the truth...

    Understanding God’s election

“To those who have received a faith of the same kind as ours …” (2 Peter 1:1 - NASB, NLT, more?) I wonder where they got this saving faith from?

A Closer Look at God’s Election

“To those who have received a faith of the same kind as ours …” (2 Peter 1:1 - NASB, NLT) I wonder where they received their faith from? Could it be from the same source as Lydia? ... in Acts 16:14

I'm preaching for the first time at my youth group soon.

YES! ... Let the Holy Spirit speak through you ... Don't take any notes.

A Closer Look at God’s Election

Father God starts by choosing us, but not everyone. He draws us to Jesus, who also chooses all of us. IMO, backed up by the NT. Do we have free will to reject God's grace? There are multitudes of NT verses that say: God guarantees us who have received the Holy Spirit (i.e. we who have been born...

A Closer Look at God’s Election

The KJV has always had it as "the faith OF Jesus". But most (all?) of the newer versions have it as "the faith IN Jesus". The total opposite! Jesus faith for us extends all the way to where ... He intercedes for us before the Father. And our faith must last until our death.

A Closer Look at God’s Election

The apostles view of man Paul and Peter explain to us that unredeemed man is just NOT able to believe in Jesus and the Gospel … due to a multitude of reasons! (These are available in the opening post of the thread: “Unable to Believe the ‘Foolish’ Gospel”) No chance to be saved ---BUT --- With...
