    Understanding God’s election

Well...the Genez's of the world would tell us that when God gazed into his cosmic crystal ball he foresaw who would agree to submit themselves to the religious ritual.

But did Abraham produce that faith by himself or was it gifted to him by God?

    Understanding God’s election

The entire nation God "foreknew"? Or just people in the nation he "foreknew"? Hint: read down to v.5.

    Understanding God’s election

Read Rom 8:30 some day. Also read Rom 9 while you're at it. God clearly predestined Issac and Jacob to enter into a personal, saving, covenant relationship with Him, but he didn't do that for Ishmael and Esau.

    Understanding God’s election

That isn't what Jesus told Nicodemus. Jesus clearly told the Pharisee that the new birth is something that happens TO him. It's not something Nicodemus was expected to do for himself. After all, "it doesn't depend on the man who desires or the man who runs...but on the mercy of God" (Rom 9:16).

    Understanding God’s election

What's really troubling is that you and other represent the Gospel as being the WHOLE truth of salvation. The Spirit's role in individual salvation is incidental at best to you and others here. Yet, one MUST be born of both the Spirit and the Word. It takes two to tango in the spiritual...

    Understanding God’s election

Only a universalist would proffer such complaint. I hope you pray for God's other moral agents, i.e. Satan and all his fallen angels. They don't get to bask in the luxury of "some".

    Understanding God’s election

Every careless word spoken by the untamed, unbridled, undisciplined tongue will come under God's judgment.

AMEN to that! I will always be eternally grateful for God's work in my life.

    Understanding God’s election

Actually, only a remnant of Israelites were saved over the history of the nation. Both kingdoms were notoriously apostate for the MOST part. This explains the judgments both suffered.

    Understanding God’s election

Yeah...but God didn't LITERALLY make anyone alive. That's just merely a euphemism. Spiritual resurrection teaching, to the detractors of the Doctrines of Grace, is just in scripture to give us all warm 'n' fuzzy feelings.

    Understanding God’s election

On the other hand, it is written: John 11:26 26 and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?" NIV Life logically and biblically precedes faith. Dead people can't do anything.

    Understanding God’s election

He's spiritually dead which makes him as helpless as the physical dead.

    Understanding God’s election

Where else did God send missionaries during the OC dispensation? And did the "superior lifestyle that God raised up in Israel" include the captivities Israel suffered under Assyria and Babylon? Were the pagan nations attracted to those lifestyles?

    Understanding God’s election

Another lie. There are four kinds of hearts in the parable. Three of them are bad; the last one is good. Anyone who dies having one of the first three kinds of soil (heart) will suffer eternal condemnation.

    Understanding God’s election

And you utterly fail to understand that the Holy Spirit is as indispensable to one's salvation as the written Word (Gospel) is. In fact, the Holy Spirit is the agent of salvation! And the dead have no power to open their ears. If spiritually dead sinners had that kind of power, Jesus wouldn't...

    Understanding God’s election

You keep posting this heretical definition that is nowhere to be found in the bible. Are you trying to convince yourself because it's highly unlikely you won't convince anyone who holds to the Reformed Traditions of the Faith? If prescience is the basis of God's salvation for his elect, then...

I didn't equate the two. YOU did! Evidently, 2Jn 10-11 inspired YOU to relate that story.

Yes, RCC theology is weighed down by human traditions. They even put the shameless Pharisees to shame!
