A complex question about free will and Calvinism

I have a complex question about free will and Calvinism, as the title of the thread suggests. Here it is: If one could know the position and momentum of every particle at the time of the big bang, any future event could be calculated. These future events would include the motion of...

Are Christians more accepting of charlatans then we should be?

Let me ask you, do you love @notuptome as a Christian? Do you forgive anything he may have said or done to you?

Are Christians more accepting of charlatans then we should be?

With all due respect, your posts seem rather abrasive.

Are Christians more accepting of charlatans then we should be?

I do feel that Christians are more tolerant of narcissists and charlatans than they should be. I don't know why though! Why is it that some Christians allow themselves to be milked in the name of "keeping the peace". Stuff that, I'd rather speak up.

    Finding God again

I think the thread was submitted before I made any other posts, and was approved later, after having made posts on other threads :)

    Does God forgive suicide?

My point wasn't whether he answered the question correctly from a Biblical standpoint (I genuinely don't know), I was simply saying that he wasn't trying to trivialise the issue. Please reread.

Are Christians more accepting of charlatans then we should be?

Thanks for your reply Dino. I found in the Church that few people were willing to search the scriptures for themselves, instead all too willing to basically allow others to think for them. This meant they they bought into the cherry-picked verses that had subsequently been twisted to serve an...

    Does God forgive suicide?

To be fair, I don't think he was intending to trivialise it. That wasn't my reading of it al all. I think he was just answering the question asked in the first post in the thread.

    Finding God again

Hi Phil36, Thanks for your wise words. I've found it very difficult to concentrate on faith and put aside the peripheral issues such as Church because, as I alluded to on another thread, I have also been going through clinical depression over the past 2 years or so. Haven't been having a good...

    Finding God again

My first thread, so please be gentle :) I was not raised a Christian. My first real experience of Church was when I went along to a Church Christmas 'party'. I was invited to the Christmas event as the Church was a client of the accounting firm I worked for at the time. When I went...

Do we have to love our enemies in order to be saved?

"Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven". - Luke 6:37

Must we repent in order to be forgiven?

My own feeling on this is "yes". Would you forgive somebody who wasn't sorry for what they did? I know I would have a hard time doing that.

    Does God forgive suicide?

Hi Roger :) I'm keeping that personal for now. Maybe as I get to know people I may share it via private message.

    Does God forgive suicide?

I stopped reading when you questioned whether mental illness is caused by a lack of faith. That kind of thinking is why some christians do not seek treatment for things like cancer....or mental illness. You are now on ignore too.

    Does God forgive suicide?

It's called mental illness. I for one have suffered from severe depression and tried to end my life on more than one occasion. Backward logic and outdated dogma such as this doesn't help. I hope this kind of dogma doesn't reach the ear of somebody currently going through clinical depression...

Exactly why I'm not following other members efforts to start an off-topic debate.

    Does God forgive suicide?

Besides all of the outdated dogma and ignorance that's appearing on this thread now, I'm more concerned about the health of the person who started this thread.

Please stop quoting me. I'm already becoming bored of receiving notifications regarding your ignorant view on mental illness.

Oh I see, you're inviting me onto your train of thought. Sorry, but your train is going the wrong way.
