Millions of people went to see that move. But, I don't think it was for the love of Jesus. I think it was for hate. so they could take enjoyment of watching the crucifixion of Jesus. And I believe this was the reason they made that movie, because of how much of the part of the movie was made about this.

This makes no sense. Churches rented out theaters so people could invite the unsaved. People actually came to the Lord because of this movie. I don't know anyone who saw it that wasn't moved by it. Even though it was done by Catholic Mel Gibson, he stayed quite close to the Biblical history of what happened. To say people saw it because of hate makes utterly no sense. Why would they even waste their time? They wouldn't. The movie was a great witnessing tool.

It was incredibly graphic showing how brutal crucifixions were, and what
our Lord went through due to His great and everlasting love for us...

Surely hard to watch. I went with a church group and there wasn't a dry eye in the place. We've been so use to movies that fluff over the suffering Christ went through. I think Gibson did an amazing job as did Caviezel playing Jesus. I don't know how anyone could have walked out and not been greatly moved.

I don't agree. I have not seen the movie. However, I've seen some short scenes and watched an interview with Mel Gibson. Whatever people's motivation (I think curiosity was a major reason), most came away deeply touched. Many churches showed the movie so word of mouth helped to widen the audience.

Mel Gibson is producing a movie about the resurrection. I plan to see that when it is released.

This movie has been out for quite a long time.

You bring this up now... Just to hate on it a little? What's the objective here?

I thought ipods were kind of dumb. Mostly because they encrypted your music, so you couldn't copy your collection to another computer or ipod and play it there too. But I'm not gonna go start a thread, more than a DECADE after ipods were old news, just to complain about how dumb it was that they locked up your music collection. It's old news. It's in the past. Nobody's talking about ipods anymore.

It's okay not everyone needs to watch it. I'm just worried about Gibson who knows if a thunderbolt will get him again?

Substitutes you may like (Jesus film 1979) and (Jesus of Nazareth 1977)

Hi 🌼 , Jesus of Nazareth starring Robert Powell isn't actually a film . It's an English TV series in about 6 one hour parts if I remember correctly . It was later cut down into a film that i haven't watched . I do have the whole TV show on dvd and it's awesome . If u search about on the internet u may still b able to get it , I would recommend that u do so if u can , if u liked the film u will love the full TV show ❤️ .

Really ? What will it b about ?
The title of the sequel is "The Resurrection of the Christ".

The new film will focus on the events following Christ's crucifixion, including his resurrection and encounters with his disciples.

I believe it is expected to be released sometime in 2026.

A powerful film that had a profound effect on my personal faith growth. Its a harrowing film to watch, and yet it should be seen once, to give any Christian a sample (not the entirety) of what Jesus Our Lord went through in His Passion.

It is amazing it uses the Old Aramaic, Koine Greek, and Latin. When I watch it, I do not even notice I am reading subtitles, and some of scenes should have qualified it for an Oscar because of how beautifully they are shot.

There is some Roman Catholic ideas, no doubt because Mel Gibson is a Sedevacantist Catholic (believes there has been no true pope on the seat of St. Peter since Pius XII, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sedevacantism). But I did not feel the film was inaccessible to all Christians. It is powerful and haunting, and many became saved by watching it, and if that is the fruit, then it is worthy.

Mel Gibson is a porn star, he is a horemonger.
Cheerful!

Well now it's crystal clear why you started this thread.

Could you improve the spelling though? At least use "whoremonger" if you're going to call somebody that. (The run-on sentence structure could use some work too.)

It looks like you have hate towards me for some reason.
