It looks like you have hate towards me for some reason.
Don't even really know you dude.

But you sure have a lot of hate for ole Mel, for some reason.

I'm just saying if you want to start a thread just to hate on Mr. Gibson, at least use proper spelling in it.

Just forget it. You all used this forum post to judge me.

I was saying that the movie, and people watching it, used it for the pleasure of watching Jesus get beat. And what all did was attack my faith.

No one attacked your faith. You gave your opinion, a very odd one. If people don't believe in Jesus why would they watch a movie about him? You're going to pay 20 bucks to see someone you don't believe in get beaten? It doesn't make sense. It has nothing to do with your faith, it has to do with your opinion and common sense. You don't like the director, fine. What about all the actors? No, the film was well done and used to bring people to Christ. Your opinion makes no sense, that's not judging you or your faith. It's just a fact.

YOU are judging a lot of people who watched that movie. And Mel. Poor guy...

WE are judging YOU?! You started this thread by judging a lot of people with no cause. How are WE judging YOU?

Brasspen,

I certainly don't have any hate for you, but I have to say that your judgments of others seem... surprising... considering the beliefs you yourself have stated in other threads.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but in some of your other posts, you've defended men having harems (you think it's ok, and hate "when other men steal your women" away from you,) and justified adultery (her husband told you it was ok, so you said you didn't do anything wrong.)

Now I'm not trying to judge you, as myself and others have asked you about these things in the thread in which you posted them, and you doubled down on your justification of them.

But I'm not quite sure how you can pass the kind of judgment you are onto others while seeming to believe that there is nothing wrong with your own beliefs for yourself.

This seems to be a regular thing with you -- everyone else is doing everything wrong.

But certainly not you.

Im waiting for his next film The Ressurection. I would guess the beatings and manner of death is why the film was called The Passion. I found it quite moving.

Of course it was violent. It tells the story of a violent death. It's likely one of the few R-rated films that many Christians ever have gone to the theater to watch-- grossing more than $600m dollars from a mostly Christian audience.

And despite it being a 20 year old movie, it's still watched as a reminder of his suffering.... most watched movie on Good Friday every year.

It was actually the first movie I saw in a theater. Which made it even more moving.

For one thing they spent a very large portion of the movie that was only about this. And do you really believe that the large number of people who went to see the movie, are all Christians.

Everyone one of you has attacked me here today in this thread. Maybe you should look at yourself, and see if the devil is working in you today.

And is this the type of thing you glory in. Yes this is how are sins were paid for, but should we glory in the fact he went thru this?

People are not attacking you. They are disagreeing with you. Learn the difference and drop the victimhood.

It doesn’t play well in a discussion forum.

I watched it. I didn't watch it to take pleasure in seeing Jesus get beat. I'm sure a lot of others didn't take pleasure in watching Jesus get beat when they watched the movie. Is it possible that maybe you're wrong about that?

I believe that in this forum that Mel Gibson is seen as:
  1. a sinner like the rest of us,
  2. with a faith in Christ like the rest of us,
  3. trying to share Christ's story to a new generation, like the rest of us.
Before you cast another stone at him, please confirm to us that you have never sinned....

It never plays well, but it is often played...

But yeah, for all the many times it has been played, it has never once played well.

Mel Gibson has made many great films. The Passion, The Patriot, Braveheart and Apocolypto to name some of the the epics. The fact that he did them without hollywood makes me appreciate them even more.

It was a tough watch but it was well done. Every Christian should see it once to see what our sins did to God.

Yes, I think many were. A lot of churches booked out the theaters. So I do believe a large number were.

An old song has a line that says "I will glory in the cross, in the cross. Lest His suffering all be in vain". Yes, I believe people should understand what Christ endured to take away our sin. I think it reminds us of what He has done for us, even though we don't deserve it.

Millions of people went to see that move. But, I don't think it was for the love of Jesus. I think it was for hate. so they could take enjoyment of watching the crucifixion of Jesus. And I believe this was the reason they made that movie, because of how much of the part of the movie was made about this.
I disagree with your assertion...
The movies that are created out of hate for Jesus are the ones that attempt to portray him as gay, or as just human, with lusts for women, etc...
The Passion was done by Mel Gibson, who absolutely loves Jesus, and wanted to show what brutality he went through in order to save us. In the scene where they place the spikes on Jesus hand, and drive them home, the hands of the Roman soldier in the movie were Mel Gibson's... he wanted to show that WE were the ones that nailed Jesus to the cross... it was because of us that he died and was raised again.

That is hardly "hate" for Jesus.

added a quote....

"In "The Passion of the Christ", the hands driving nails into Jesus's palms during the crucifixion scene are those of director Mel Gibson. Gibson said he felt a personal connection to the event and wanted to visually represent his own sense of culpability. He has also stated that he feels responsible for Christ's death. "
