How you may wind up paying for San Francisco’s reparations plan

My feeling is every state has the right to propose and pass any laws they wish to use their tax revenue as they wish. If you live in California the proposed plan of $5 million in reparations would cost each tax payer about $600,000. That is a small price to pay if you are receiving the $5 million. On the other hand if you are not receiving any reparations and don't want to pay the $600,000 you can move. This should make moving out of California appear a whole lot more economic.

On the other hand other states can pass laws that they will not pay reparations. It is still a free country, if you want to receive reparations, move to the states that are going to pay it and you may want to look for the best deal. If you don't want to pay reparations again, move to a state that isn't paying them.

Now according to this article California would pass a reparations bill that they would then want the Federal government to pay. Pretty sweet way to roll the whole country. However, that would be, by definition, taxation without representation. The last time someone tried to do that we had a revolution, wouldn't be surprised if that happened again.

I doubt any of you can handle what I am going to say, but what if we were to give California, Oregon, and Nevada as reparations? Its more percentage of the land than the percent of the population, so there is room to grow. And I mean all the resources businesses homes wealth all of it no strings attached.

We have a lot of leftists who think the world owes them a living and want something for nothing.
Perhaps this began with Roosevelt and was not reined in.:):coffee:

That is a great idea! Anyone who feels they have been wronged, they deserve reparations, move to the West coast.

With respect to Native Americans, I think we should just basically honor the treaties we have already... and then any State governor that tries to tax or otherwise impose over the Indians should submit to a public pie in the face and wearing of a dunce cap.

In college, I was called a racist for saying that the civil war generation should have given former slaves a sovereign territory. I still stand on that opinion. (Apparently, that would have been "segregation" which is automatically racist... but, I can't help it really, being a white guy and all)... but at the end of the day, that never happened; and they chose emancipation and forced integration... the federal government has to have it's tentacles around everything and everyone at all times, and giving up power over people and land is pretty much never on the agenda...

having said that- the post-bellum generation decided that this country would move forward under civic nationalism. The aristocracy of southern democrats is long, long, gone; and we should all be -together- taking on TODAY'S unmeritorious and money hungry aristocrats... who pretend everything is about race, as they steal labor from us all.

It's absurd. Perpetual victim mentality grooming. And infantilizing the race.

If the government wants to hand out reparations, they should start with the tribal people's. Then the Irish. The Catholics.

Blacks have plenty of consideration today
Besides, what are reparations but our government paying for slaves again?

If they want consolation money, file suit against the government of the African nations who sold their ancestors, tribal warfare POWs, to traders.

Of all the slave trade in the America's, the U. S purchased but 4%.Brazil purchased the most.

They don't want to hand out reparations, they want to divide and conquer.

Agreed. Reparations are just the facade they hide that agenda behind.

Years ago the curbing of rights and liberties was clad in a slogan. "Think of the children!"

Yeah, think of the future they'll have after government vacated their rights and liberties

Lets just carve this place up. Black folk can have California Oregon and Nevada, Native folk can have Wyoming, and Utah, the alphabet folks can have New Jersey, and the lefties can have every thing else Pennsylvania and north from there. The politicians and their families can have Maryland.

Black people want white people to pay reparations for our ancestors owning slaves.
Even though none of the current black people have been slaves and none of the whites owned slaves.
Even though many families (like mine) have no history of owning slaves.

Not all black people see themselves as victims and many of them think the whole reparations thing is not practical (there were blacks who were slave holders and there are whites who not only weren't but worked to end slavery and even fought and died in the Civil war).

Weren't the freed slaves supposed to get 40 acres and a mule?
I agree that, if anything, people that can show their ancestors were slaves should get that free land they were promised.

True. I don't think any of the black people I've ever spoken to like the idea of reparations.
Maybe I just know too many conservative black people, though.
Also, this idea of reparations seems to be pushed more by white people than black people.
