Good grief, KaylaG . . . that's just incredible. I can't imagine ever saying that to anyone at a Christian forum (in front of everyone to see).
I know, it's not like you know the person. Some of the things I have heard here, not just said to me but others, I'm just shocked.

One thing that I am often reminded of is that there are a lot of people (more than you might think) that use cannabis and alcohol while posting their messages here. Alcohol will REALLY cause a person to say things that they would not normally say. Again, I think that this happens far more than most of us realize.
That is something I would have never thought of. I don't do either, so I would never have thought that. Thank you for pointing that out. It makes a lot of sense.

I was driving thru the country yesterday and saw a field filled with sheep.
My first reaction was "oh look a gathering of liberals".

When We All Get To Heaven
GodTube Staff

"When We All Get to Heaven" is a Christian hymn written by Eliza Hewitt in 1898. Hewitt praises the wondrous love of Jesus and looks to the day we will all be reunited in the kingdom of heaven. Learn more about her courageous story and the inspirational lyrics of this hymn below!

1 Sing the wondrous love of Jesus,
sing his mercy and his grace;
in the mansions bright and blessed
he'll prepare for us a place.
Refrain:
When we all get to heaven,
what a day of rejoicing that will be!
When we all see Jesus
we'll sing and shout the victory.
2 While we walk the pilgrim pathway
clouds will overspread the sky,
but when traveling days are over,
not a shadow, not a sigh. [Refrain]
3 Let us then be true and faithful,
trusting, serving every day;
just one glimpse of Him in glory
will the toils of life repay. [Refrain]

Reading the title of this thread takes me back to about 1955 piano almost in honkytonk people enjoying church...

Lol I think you and I grew up in similar churches. I can sing this one by heart, but I can do that with many hymns. I can hear it too, just the way you describe it. An oldie but a goody as they say. :)

How do we reach a world when we won't even let each other in to heaven?
That's a profound statement. I read a lot of the "He must not be a real Christian" mantra on this site. But I also hear it in Christian circles offline as well.

I think as far as evangelism is concerned, I think it is healthier to start from a perspective of everyone being saved rather than not. Let the person you are talking to prove they are not by their words. Then, instead of sentencing them to a life of hell, it's best to show what the bible says.

And I gotta say, I've learned a lot about that here on this very site. So, thanks to Kaylagrl and Magenta (and a few others) for making that happen. :):coffee:

I wonder sometimes when an unbeliever points out that even believers can't agree on what the Bible is saying how much we are affecting the world? Here at CC we have constant disagreement. We all think the Bible is plain, straight forward, yet some of our beliefs are so far apart. And each one of us would say we follow the Word and are guided by the Holy Spirit and that is why we believe the way we believe.

How do we reach a world when we won't even let each other in to heaven? I've been wondering about that lately, and it's been bothering me. A well known actress that is a Christian said to two comedian friends of hers that God loves them. They said they were astounded, because no one had ever told them God loves them. And that got me to thinking, why didn't they know? I've always been very black and white in what I believe. But I wonder, are we trying to do the Holy Spirits work? A popular singing group has a song called "I Catch Em', He Cleans Em'. We're to be fishers of men. But are we trying to do work that isn't ours to do? An old singer said once, "the older I'm getting, the more people I'm letting into heaven". Does anyone else feel the same way? Or is it just me? Why aren't we more in one accord. And don't tell me "because the way you believe is wrong". Every single person here believes they are right according to the Word. If that is true, we should be able to sing "There's a Sweet, Sweet Spirit in This Place" and there isn't. Why?!
When We All Get to Heaven”

Which verse says we all go to heaven?

I agree with you here. It’s better to not judge someone’s spiritual status even if they say something nasty or openly sin. Those might be evidences for not being a follower of Christ, but they aren’t conclusive because real Christians do sin. So there isn’t a precise metric to judge if someone is not a a Christian. It’s better to just leave that up to God.

Always give people the solution rather than just tell them what their perceived problem is. All people need mercy and grace.

It's interesting that you say that. I had "people" from another forum go after me because I stated how confusing some of Paul's writings can be. Even Peter himself stated such.

2 Peter 3:15-16 NET - "And regard the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as also our dear brother Paul wrote to you, according to the wisdom given to him, 16 speaking of these things in all his letters. Some things in these letters are hard to understand, things the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they also do to the rest of the scriptures."

The Holy Spirit teaches the Truth . . . so those who are being taught by the same Spirit are receiving the same Truth. So what does this mean, then, considering the plethora of "teachers" we have here?

Pretty simple . . . the Remnant is small, and so are the number of True teachers . . . here.
I’m pretty sure you’ve blocked every “teacher” who you disagree with.

Didn’t you say Jesus lied to His brothers in one of your posts? This happened a long time ago, but it’s one of those posts I’ll never forget and it definitely colors my perception of everything you say.

https://christianchat.com/threads/god-is-hiding-information-from-his-only-son.200242/post-4602084

“How do we know that Jesus was even telling the Truth? In another piece of Scripture, we find that Jesus lied to His "brothers" when He told them that He wouldn't be attending a specific festival. However, after his "brothers" left His presence, Jesus attended anyway.

John 7:8, 10 NLT - "You go on. I'm not going to this festival, because my time has not yet come." ... 10 "But after his brothers left for the festival, Jesus also went, though secretly, staying out of public view."

What is your explanation of this? What spirit led you to say this?

Every group, every church, every denomination, ever site has nuts that think they are above Christ. Some go beyond nuts to sin. When we are so full of ourselves where is the room for the indwelling ?

It's just been my experience that when you attack people, they shut down. You can show people the truth without attacking them. Thank you for your thoughtful words. Blessings.

You are so correct when you say that we have constant disagreement with each other. This stems mainly from our own private interpretations of Scripture from the Bible. When there are differing opinions on the interpretation of Scriputure, some have to be plain wrong.

The funny thing is that, with all these disagreements, we unite with each other and point our fingers at Catholics/Pentecostals/Orthodox/SDAs/Mormons......etc/etc........ for not following Scripture. Sort of the pot and kettle story, sort of the log in our own eye story.

There was one group of people that Jesus constantly and consistently chastised and warned. The Pharisees. Most of Matthew chapter 23 deals with the woes assigned to them for refusing to enter Heaven, and barring others from going in.

It would serve us well to study what they were doing and avoid at all costs doing the same.

In my opinion, the Parisees' problem was that they were rigid followers of 'man made rules' which they thought made them holy in God's sight. But, as Jesus pointed out, their hearts were far from God and they had no love for God nor their non-Pharisee brothers or sisters.

The Pharisees thought they were sinless, as exemplified by the parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector in the Temple. The Pharisee was praising himself as to how holy he was while pointing the finger at and denigrating the tax collector.

The Pharisees believed they should keep themselves apart from the rest of society, keep away from common people. Importantly, the Pharisees wouldn't lift a finger to help out their brothers and sisters.

The Pharisees were all white and shiny on the outside but dead on the inside, like a sepulcher, like a tomb.

John 7:8-11 . . You go up to this feast. I am not yet going up to this feast,
for my time has not yet fully come. When he had said these things to them,
he remained in Galilee. But when his brothers had gone up, then he also
went up to the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret.

Jesus was on a very short leash. He didn't come into the world as an
independent agent, instead; he came as a servant whose itinerary, minute
by-minute, was micromanaged by a higher power.

Phil 2:7-8 . . He made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the
form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: and being found in
fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient

John 4:34 . . My food, said Jesus, is to do the will of him who sent me

John 6:38 . . I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do
the will of Him who sent me.

John 8:28 . . I do nothing on my own initiative,

John 8:29 . . I do always those things that please Him.

John 10:30 . . I and my Father are unified.

John 14:31 . . That the world may know that I love the Father, and as the
Father gave me commandment, even so I do.

NOTE: Jesus' minute-by-minute itinerary was first exhibited at a wedding in
the 2nd chapter of John's gospel.

You just described me perfectly. When I am attacked, I don't even read what the person has to say once I realize they're on the ridiculous offensive. That person could be 100% accurate in showing that I am wrong about something, but their aggression causes me to just turn and leave. And what's amazing, is that they then attack me for not reading what they have to say.

According to Matt 26:29, Luke 22:15-16, and Luke 22:28-30 Jesus' followers
will be capable of dining upon ordinary foods and beverages.

I look forward to that because at my current age of 78, I've lost much of
my senses of smell and taste. With the new youthful body promised to his
followers, my favorites will be a lot more pleasurable than now.
