My husband has dementia and has been in a nursing home now for 3 years.
He cannot communicate now altho he does understand what is said to him.
I am just sharing why I think it would be good to have a room for seniors
since I know many are in similar situations.
Ultimately the Lord Jesus is our closest friend and on Him we can always rely
That must be so hard. I am single now and find life lonely. Sometimes I forget how difficult it can be when communication breaks down in a marriage. May God grant you peace.
I am on several Christian Forums.

One Forum has..'Senior sub forum/section.'
- 50+ & 65+..
That would be nice. Every age has its own unique challenges. Sometimes it would be nice to have a chat room with like minded souls in the same stage of life
I know. This is an old thread. But I'm on a mission.:)

•I am no longer a teenager. The teen forum seems no place for this old lady!
•I am no longer raising my children. They are grown with families of their own. The Young Adults and Family forums are nice to visit, but they aren't in the same place as I am.
•I am no longer contending with others in the workplace. I am retired.

Although we can certainly join in all over the site, it would be so lovely to have a Forum for us old fogies.
There is a definite interest. How would we get one crested?
Personally I'm all for it, they have a young adults room and teenage room so why not seniors? somewhere where they can talk about how in the old days this and that happened and how those darn teenagers and their cell phones and loud music. grumble grumble grumble...[/

Bless you, Charlotte,
My father had Alzheimer's and died 15yrs ago. He was in an Alzheimer's facility over 5 yrs. I bless you for loving and continuing your faithfulness to your husband. I know it's hard; very hard. But in my case, despite the hard stuff, I remember laughing a lot. My dad had a sense of humor, and during some of his more lucid moments he could hang me out to dry with his humor. Unlike some, he passed before he totally forgot my family. Yes, there was confusion, but for the most part he at least knew we were people who loved him even if he could remember names.
Jesus will bless you as you continue to honor the covenant you made with your husband to love and honor him. I bless you for your devotion. Your rewards will be many.
So well said. Your man had a treasure in you as you did in him.

The first thing I noticed as I was starting to get older was the wrinkles on the back of my hand...and the white hairs showing up in my eyebrows. I am not really a vain person but I would look at the back of my hands and pluck out the white hairs in my eyebrows and say to myself... When did I start getting old?

I was pretty much o.k. until I hit my 60's and then I started having a hard time breathing. Now at 67 I don't feel stable standing in the bath tub and have a hard time getting my short legs over the tall tub that is in our one bathroom which is why we are in the process of putting a second bathroom in with a shower that has a bench in it.

I can't stand for long periods of time like I used to be able to and I remember the days when I could shop until my teenage daughter dropped and would beg me to stop the shopping and go home.

The thing I hate the most is having a mind that says I want to keep doing what I could do when I was younger but my body won't cooperate. I understand now why old people can sometimes be smelly and why they might be grumpy, because doing things that used to be simple aren't simple any more and they might be in pain for the grumpy part.

So yes, I belong in the old fogie section of life now and not real happy about it cause my teenaged/young adult mind says I should still be able to do what I used to do and body resists me.

Personally, I feel like an old derelict.

I forgot to grow up! I'm finally free of all the insecurities that held me back as a musician...just in time to apply for old age security! Lol
Though I am old enough to know that stomping my feet and saying that it's not fair won't change anything...it won't, right?

I have to go grocery shopping tomorrow. If I have the courage to, that is.

I have trouble going out too. Do you know why it is hard for you?

I used to work in retirement villages

when I over hear old people talk with each other they mostly talk about

their ailments
the good old days
how they dont understand todays technology
the good old days again
their ailments (it never goes away)

Impossible! There's no way I'm an old fart. There's some other explanation. Perhaps a distortion in the time-space continuum that only affected my physical body. If so, I bet the Chinese had something to do with it!
Or that my inner man somehow slipped into an alternate reality. That would explain a lot of other things, too! Like how Mr. Potato-Head became president! Yeah, this makes more sense!

There are good things about being a Senior. I don't have to get up at the crack of dawn and go to work every day to earn a living. I don't have the stress I had when working and raising a family.

I can take time to smell the roses and watch birds eating at our feeders or watch it snow, both are very relaxing to do. I do really like this stage of life.
