Jesus did not answer directly, He often doesn't.

He might have said "yea Pete, just a few shrivelled souls"

Here is my understanding of what He said.

"Never mind who or how many will be saved that is none of your business, that is MY job. What you need to worry about is making sure you enter in at the straight gate for many strive and are unable. Many hope to do business with Me by entering in at the wide gate. Many are called but few are chosen.

Make sure you've got your doctrine right, live clean and holy, keep your lines clear between yourself and God. If you will enter in at the narrow gate I can use you and many shall come from the east and the west to sit at table with Abe and Ike and Jake. I tell ya there'll be a multitude so great of the redeemed in heaven that it is impossible to number.

You remember the great drought of fish you caught when you obeyed My word ... so also you will be a like fisher of men"

But mebbe that is just my fancy ... others can weigh and judge.

What scripture reference are we talking about here?

Since you failed to capitalize "Christians", we should take your comment with a grain of salt. All genuine Christians will go to Heaven. Please note that I said "genuine" and capitalized Christians and Heaven. These are those who have been saved by grace, washed in the blood of the Lamb, and born from above (or born again).

Even though Scripture shows us that relatively few will be saved, that relative number should be see in the light of Revelation 7:9: After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands.

"A great multitude which no man could number" means a very vast number of people who will be in Heaven. We dare not put a figure to that since only God knows. Yet they will be "few" when compared to the billions of the unsaved.

It is significant that Satan has created a multitude of false religions (including Communism) and cults since the Fall to which people cling, even though they have no substance and are mostly superstition. It is even more significant that the true and full Gospel of Christ has been gradually dwindling in Christian churches. At the same time radical Islam has taken hold of the Muslim world, and is growing by leaps and bounds.

Yes, hence why I did not capitalize. We should not question eachothers faith/denominations, so not doing it. Becomes angry comments from it too. I have not been washed in the blood of the lamb, I am the lamb as are you, it was a metaphore. A past ritual that is gone now. We are the lords sheep, there will be no blood, but when we die, we are born into heaven.

You live in 2021, the revelation 7:9 is not the same anymore. We have had some changes the last few years, the world is not very christian, and certainly not the US. Few are faithful to Gods laws, and I fear for other christians in name. I give an estimate, do not be so serious about it, you feel different, that is OK. Not up to us anyhow. If we make it a definitive number we judge. I say a number that is a guesstimate, God decides. I may be wrong, but we have stats, of support for abortion, and other stuff among christians, and it is few that are steadfast, and so many christians vote left. Supporting stuff that is not allowed by God. So what am I too do? Do not bother with marxists, or radical islam, why bother? To make you angry? Why stay in that state of mind? They decide for them. let them be. Just pray for peace in afghanistan under Taliban, and no anger about it being taliban/muslim. Peace is peace. Do it personal, do not be combative. You are not the prez of them. God never required you to do battle for others, only yourself. One life, one soul. And do as best you can for the ones around you, never told us to fix the gulfcountries. Never told us to be anything but kind to people of other faiths. Love all people, I wish you the best.

Cute joke, and in all seriousness, obviously global. More like 0,1% if you do not include eastern europe and asia.
When the gospel is preached in power whole towns and cities get swept in the Kingdom, in China today almost whole provinces are being saved whereas China has been virtually lock to the gospel.

There is no inability on God's part nor any unwillingness.

Bless you ... but we do go by faith and not by what our eyes perceive. God is going to save many even if He has to drag them out of the ditches and highways and compel them to come.

Have you been to Jesus for the cleansing power
are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
are you fully trusting in His grace this hour
are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?

That excuse makes no sense.
Especially the judging remark and after you first statedyou firmly believe only 1% of Christians will get into heaven.
That's judgment on a global scale.

No, not my judgement, the judgement of the books. If people choose denominations that does not adhere to the rules, what can I say? And am I supposed to pretend like it is OK to support abortion as a christian, and expect to get into heaven? 1% is a little more than the orthodox christians I guess, so am being generous. Think what you will, I read, and I follow the judgements in the books. And some other rules regarding being a perfect christian.

“You must picture me alone in that room at Magdalen, night after night, feeling, whenever my mind lifted even for a second from my work, the steady, unrelenting approach of Him whom I so earnestly desired not to meet. That which I greatly feared had at last come upon me. In the Trinity Term of 1929 I gave in, and admitted that God was God, and knelt and prayed: perhaps, that night, the most dejected and reluctant convert in all England”

-C. S. Lewis on his defection from atheism.

I am reliably informed from those who have been working in the field for years (Middle East) that whenever Islam shows it's true face there is a harvest for The Kingdom. The enemies of God think they are eliminating Christians but they are really creating witnesses.

Actually, the Bible says it is God who judges.
Forgetting all those denominations get their theology from the Bible, are you a perfect Christian?

Jesus did not answer directly, He often doesn't.
Seems to me He answered pretty directly: "For many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able."—Luke 13:24

He doesn't give a specific number, but many will seek to enter and not be able.

In Mathew 7 He contrasts many with few: Many find the road that leads to destruction; but few find the way that leads to life.

Not forgetting anything, just ask if you wonder. Believe what you like, I believe what I believe. Coexist. I think plenty of them teach wrongthink, that jeopardize peoples souls. I have not claimed to be a perfect christian, and have stated over and over that I am not a perfect christian yet. Have not prayed, have not asked to join heaven yet, so not perfect yet. Work ion progress. Too much assumptions going on. Read what the orthodox believe, or just ask. It is a very narrow path.
