I've already explained what the word "name" means in the Greek. Jesus' literal name has no power. It it His REPUTATION that counts.

Repeating the name "Jesus" over and over changes nothing.

There is power in the REPUTATION of Jesus. Who He is and what He has done.

Sad.

It is His REPUTATION that is important. Yes, we do say His Name, but it's His REPUTATION that counts.

btw, are you aware of how many people in Mexico who are named 'Jesus"?
Your argument is with the word, not me.
Acts 3:6
6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.

Acts 3:16
And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.

Acts 4:7-12
And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what power, or by what name, have ye done this?
8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,
9 If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole;

10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.

11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.

12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

I wouldn't expect to receive anything from Jesus without requesting it how He said to. Obedience to His commands is actually how we honor Him.
Considering His name isn't actually Jesus, but Yahusha or Yeshua, you aren't even asking in His actual name.

I thought you were done. And, why don't you address my comment? We as born-again believes are in fact baptized, so what are you arguing about?

the literal name? so now you are going to take this tact? we have all been baptized in His name.

do you think it counts if I say I rebuke your false teaching in the name of Jesus? I'm not fooling

you are so far into left field you meet yourself coming the other way
Being baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost is not the same as being baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

Jesus gave the command to baptize in a singular name, and the apostles obeyed the command and baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

There is not one record of anyone being baptized in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Ghost. That's because the apostles knew the name was in fact Jesus. If you don't believe that do a search of the entire bible.

Who said anything about being baptized in the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Ghost?

So Jesus did not say to be baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit?

Maybe Wansvic has never read the book of Matthew. I think he has me on ignore, so you can share that passage with him.

Anyone that teaches baptism is necessary for salvation is a false teacher.

No. I just checked the NIV and says the same thing.

Do you know of a translation that doesn't say this?

No part of this argument makes sense or is in the least bit useful.

You thunk? As we say over here.
Think Im in the same boat as you.

It's convenient to put someone on ignore because you biblically try to reprove them but they reject it because of indoctrination given their doctrinal bent.

As a result they just quote verses with no wish to discuss aka Acts per this thread.
We must all be bereans but further more look at the text within the context and the audience at the time.

I don't know what you think but given this thread where a few state we must be baptised to be saved fall foul of works being burned up yet saved through the fire per what Paul says in Corinthians?

I would say yes.
It's adding to salvation by faith alone but still saved. No rewards.
Having said that though it can be reciprocal to us.

Anyway a couple of links for us all to look at, mainly if I was to get a response from a previous post concerning being Baptised in the name of the Father son and Holy Spirt which you said above and most us know.

1. No one in the OT was saved because they were circumcised. It was not required for salvation (it was only for the jews. Many gentiles were saved think ninevah
The word actually states that one's disobedience to the command in the OT to be circumcised caused one to be out of covenant with God. And, in the case of Moses, the Lord sought him to kill him for neglecting to obey God's command and circumcise his son.

"And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant." Gen 17:14

Concerning Moses:
"And it came to pass by the way in the inn, that the Lord met him, and sought to kill him.
Then Zipporah took a sharp stone, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet, and said, Surely a bloody husband art thou to me.
So he let him go: then she said, A bloody husband thou art, because of the circumcision." Ex 4:24-26

2. Faith in the NT is no different. Abraham believed God and it was counted as righteousness. It is not by works of righteousness which we have done. Paul makes it clear in Col 2 that it is the spiritual circumcision/baptism performed by the one who raised Christ from the dead that sdaves us. Not physical circumcision/baptism done by the hand of man
According to Paul the person we were is crucified and buried with Jesus by baptism. (Rom. 6:3-4) And having been planted together in the likeness of Jesus’ death, we shall be also in the likeness of Jesus resurrection. (Rom. 6:5) These truths can be seen in one’s obedience to God’s command that everyone repent, and be water baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. (death and burial) And, receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. (resurrection power) Having been reborn of water and Spirit provides for entrance into heaven where we will live with Jesus. (Rom. 6:8)

“ Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.
8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: Rom 6:3-8

“Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God? When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭11:17-18‬ ‭KJV‬‬
https://bible.com/bible/1/act.11.17-18.KJV

Peter says they received the Holy Spirit here without water baptism.
Peter's statement pertained specifically to why he water baptized Cornelius and the others. Notice he said, who was I to withstand God after seeing God fill them with His Spirit. What did he do after seeing them filled in order not to withstand God? He commanded they be water baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. (Acts 10:44-48)
The Jewish leaders said, "Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life." Their comment spoke of their sins having been remitted as well as their receiving the Holy Ghost.

All you are doing is quoting verses that mention "name". So what?

Again, how many men in Mexico are named Jesus? TONS. So what!

The reason there is POWER in the name of Jesus is because of the REPUTATION of Jesus.

Why are you so stubbornly rejecting the fact that "the name of Jesus" refers to His REPUTATION?
