Why do spiritual Christians object to pictures of Christ, especially the popular long-haired effeminate picture of Christ? Because God’s Word forbids such idolatry. “You shall have no image or likeness of God”. And Christ is God!

How did such idolatry come in and corrupt the early Christian church? It began with the Roman Catholic Church – who many great men of God declare is the harlot Babylon depicted in the Book of Revelation. The Roman Catholic church with its images, statues, relics, superstitions, vain repetitious prayers (Rosary), its deification of ‘Mother Mary’, its worship of the ‘saints’; with its false doctrines and false practices of the Mass, celibacy of priests and nuns, belief in purgatory, infallibility of the Pope, etc – is clearly the false church condemned in Revelation. Yet tragically, millions continue to hold on to Roman Catholic beliefs and practices – the most subtle delusion being that of keeping pictures of Jesus in their homes and even posting such pictures on social networking sites on the Internet. Many Protestant churches blindly follow this nefarious practice.

Jesus was not a white Caucasian; he was a Jew from Palestine, who spent over 30 years in Nazareth. He did not look different from other Jews, nor from His disciples, so much so Judas had to identify Him with a kiss. He was not a Nazarite; rather He was a Nazarene (one who came from Nazareth). A Nazarite wore long hair, and did not drink wine; but Jesus did not sport long hair, and He did drink wine. Paul the apostle declared that it was a shame for men to have long hair, 1 Cor 11.14. Paul was not referring to Jews; he said ‘men’, meaning all men everywhere!

According to Isaiah 53:2, our Lord Jesus had no form or comeliness that we should desire Him. All the pictures of Jesus hanging on the Cross cannot match what Isaiah 52:14 says: “His visage was so marred more than any man.” And yet you see His visage (face), and in many pictures with a halo around His head. The Cross was a grim, terrible business. His visage and form were marred in the most horrible fashion on the Cross. (Yet we are not to focus on the external and physical, but on the internal and spiritual (real) aspects of the Cross – which is exactly what the Bible does through the writings of the Apostle Paul.)

It is evident that the Roman emperors of that time wore short hair, and the citizens of the Roman empire followed the practice of the Emperor. The Jews also had short hair. Coins and statues show the emperors with short hair. Further, Jesus was the son of a carpenter, and was involved in hard work from a very young age. He was sturdy and strong; He drove out the merchandisers from the Temple with a whip. No weak effeminate man could do that. No weak, effeminate man could endure the agony of the Cross as long as He did.

So where did this long-haired effeminate picture of Jesus come from? Alexandre Dumas (Pere) talks about a conspiracy hatched in the Papal palace. The Pope at that time wanted all art depicting a Semitic Jesus to be destroyed, and he commissioned paintings of a Caucasian or Westernized Jesus. His son Cesare Borgia, the notorious murderer and debauchee, was the model for these paintings. (The evil Machiavelli admired this inhuman scoundrel!) The celebrated Leonardo da Vinci was involved in this conspiracy; because he was a close friend of Cesare Borgia. It is shocking that this long-haired effeminate Jesus is based on a mass murderer, debauchee and homosexual like Cesare Borgia, and millions the word over have been worshipping this image for centuries.

The Bible condemns idolatry in no uncertain terms. The Second Commandment forbids it. Further, we are to know Christ no longer in the flesh, 2 Cor 5.16. We are to know Him in the Spirit, and we are to worship Him in the Spirit, John 4.23, 24. During the first centuries of the Church, there were no pictures of Jesus, no images, no idolatry! The present system of Christian worship which is based on man-made tradition, and various violations of the Bible, is nothing but an empty show, a vain religious ceremony – of no worth to God, and insulting to Christ. We are to worship according to the principles of the New Testament, according to the principles shown to us clearly in Acts of the Apostles, First Corinthians and Ephesians. But man, in his depravity and blindness, must corrupt God’s spiritual worship with superstitious practices, fleshly indulgence, carnal exhibitionism and vain self-glory.

God hates idolatry! He calls it an abomination. Can the awesome almighty transcendent glorious God be brought down to the level of a sickly effeminate human being? Nothing can be more shocking! Pictures of Jesus are only promoting idolatry, and those who continue in this practice are actually serving the devil!

Some of you may take this post very lightly and dismiss it as the cranky rantings of an over-spiritual man. But the question is: Do you want to obey God and His Word? Or do you want to follow a false tradition, knowing that such pictures of Jesus have been introduced into ‘Christianity’ by the Pope himself, and ultimately by Satan?

***
I would request Christians to study the Word of God, and understand what it means to worship God in spirit and in truth! All idolaters will have their part in the lake of fire, Rev 21.8. Why not revere the Word of God, instead of revering an Idol? Your future is at stake!

It seems some have opted for man-made laws in the feigned form of doctyrines to replace the laws written upon our hearts.

My own praqctice is not to have an image of the Lord, for I have no idea what He actually looked like. He was very dark if the Song of Solomon is referring to Him.

I do not even have nor want to have a cross, not a crucifix, nada. He is in my heart, and because of this I cannot make a doctrine out of what many may lovingly hold dear as a reminder of Him. None of the images of Him bother me one iota, however I would not have one, nor would I post one..............So what is the big deal.

As for that long hair spiel from the letters, these are the leanings of Paul, and never are they mentioned as they are in this thread in any of the law nor the Prophets nor in the writings in general.

Too many, all, denominations are so hung up on their differences in doctrine they have lost sight of the Love and Grace that came with Salvation. Open the eyes of the heart, and stop seeing with what is falsely called knowledge.

Well, JaumeJ, this is an interesting confession; you seem to have made a U turn!

Btw, the bride in Song of Solomon referred to herself as dark. We have no idea how the Bridegroom (Lord Jesus) looked. The Bride says He is white and ruddy, but that is in spiritual terms, not in external appearance!

Paul’s writings are to be taken VERY SERIOUSLY. Do not dismiss them. They are imho greater than the Law and the Prophets.

I don’t know what you mean by wrestings????????

Jaume, we worship in Spirit and Truth, not according to corrupt and dead practices of a notoriously false RC church!

If your read my posts, there is no u=turn here. I am open to family in the Messiah who feel they are justified in the sight of our Maker to have an image of what they believe is Jesus. It is not idol worship, it is simply commerating with reverence for these folks.

Paul seems to be at the foundation of most disputes in the forum, this is why, though I read Paul, my serious learning can onnly be from the teaching of Jesus while He was here andwhat He has given me by means of the Holy Spirit, also Jesus.

This is so true! For many on this site it is frightening to speak of how they interpret scripture because if someone disagrees it becomes a war of words and not Christians working together to know God and His ways.

I don't think this is added church doctrine, it is the second commandment and I would like to discuss it with other Christians. I think the image that we have of God the Father and of Christ the Son is important. Muslims worship God, but the God they worship is not the true God. If we worship a Christ as an artists imagine the body Christ lived in as a man, I think it is possible that it could be a very serious wrong.

Surah 4 157.
And because they said, "we have indeed killed mexhah ersa, the son of melyan, the messenger of Allah." They didn't kill him or crucify him, but they didn't understand the truth. Those who argue for Ursa are really confused about his being killed. They knew nothing about it, but according to conjecture. They didn't actually kill him.

Surah 4 158.不然,真主已把他擢升到自己那里。真主是万能的,是至睿的。

Otherwise, Allah has brought him up to himself. Allah is omnipotent and wise.

Idolatry is worshipping something that is not God. Again, you failed to capture this important distinction. Therefore, you did not convey a message about what the actual commandment against idolatry says.

As a result, your post comes off very legalistic and a tad hypocritical.

"If we worship a Christ as artists imagine the body Christ lived in as a man, I think it is possible that it could be a very serious wrong."

i agree with this statement by Blik. Promoting false images of Christ, and indulging in worship of these images, is a very serious wrong!

I think you need to study the subject at length, with reference to the Word of God, the Holy God.
Runningman, when we run away from the truth, it reflects very sadly on us. Face the truth. Stand up for God's Word. And please study the Bible!
Remember, John the beloved apostle said, Little children, keep yourselves (or guard yourselves) from IDOLS. 1 John 5.21. That's how he closes his very important letter!

While I do not believe there is an authentic portrayal of Jesus that I have seen, I do NOT know any Christian or Congregation that WORSHIPS the various depictions of Jesus found in pictures hanging on their walls. They worship God with prayer/praise and Jesus as well, through the love and guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Idolatry only comes into play when someone places someone/something ABOVE God and thus, whatever that is becomes their god, and THAT is idolatry.

There are a couple instances in Scripture that give a physical description of Jesus, but they are not definitive enough for any of us to say we actually know what His physical appearance was.

AND, by the way, that is how God intended it. God did not want people to love and believe in and follow Jesu because he came from a wealthy family, was a great Orator, or was a very handsome man. God wanted people to believe in Jesus because of His Gospel. (Scripture teaches us this)

View attachment 228272

and why would an Italian have such lovely blue eyes? well *gasp* he didn't. they, and you apparently, are wrong

This very strange idea seems to have originally come from a claim by Alexandre Dumas, but has been picked up and spread by Afrocentrics, with the argument being that originally Jesus was depicted as non-European because he was Jewish (somehow Afrocentrics equate ancient Semitic people with “African” and therefore “black”), so Pope Alexander VI commissioned new paintings of Jesus using his illegitimate son Cesare Borgia as their model. He then allegedly “ordered the destruction of all art depicting a Semitic Jesus”, so we have a white Jesus as our popular image of Jesus today. This claim is often made online (see The Holy Prepuce for one example) and is usually accompanied by these two images as “proof”:

It has also been propagated by Wu-Tang Clan affiliate, Killah Priest in "B.I.B.L.E.”, which includes the lyrics:

“I even learned Caucasians were really the Tribe of Edam

The white image of Christ is really Cesare Borgia

so, yeah, false

And here is another false picture of Jesus in the popular movie, Passion of the Christ. Mel Gibson is being faithful to the Italianate features of Cesare Borgia!

View attachment 228273
oh didn't you know? Gibson has a problem with Jewish people period. After all, and to quote, they killed Christ, which any good Catholic knows
