"We should always obey God"

Exactly!

That's all that's being said here.

But some people are accusing me of preaching a 'salvation by works' doctrine just for saying that we should obey God.
Well, your language in your posts is ambiguous at times and the title of your thread is "Not by works" - false! What do you expect?

Dude (said in a nice way) ... you have at times used words that would lead one to think you believe in "salvation by works". I have read your posts. They are ambiguous at times.
So it's not just me. :)

I have tried though.
I get the impression you are a new Christian. I admire your zealousness. We all have different gifts.

Aside: If you are a new Christian, I suggest reading Systematic Theology books... they put the pieces of the puzzle together.
Aside2: A lot of CRAPPY Christian literature out there. (maybe most of it) Hopefully, you stumble across something good.

Don't take this the wrong way: If you cannot articulate your beliefs concisely, it's because you don't understand them as well as you think you do.

Your OP brought an onslaught on your person, and rightly so. It also caused the ravenous wolves a.k.a. simpletons on here to attack some others, well, at least one other, in ignorance and on purpose, just because they live for this type of behavior.
It's ok, I don't take offence.
I think I understand what I believe, but I think there is an expectation by some for me to explain my thoughts in a specific way, or using specific lingo.
I think this is in part where misunderstandings have risen.

So it's not just me.
ROFL .... no ... I saw where you asked @DBurrage to define terms in Heb. 26:10 ... I had done same time previously. He said he wouldn't, then said he would. It is so confusing. I give him "A" for effort.
What do they say ... Americans and Brits are separate by a common language .... more than that in this case

I believe it also

But ones salvation can not be determined by how one acts. Because no one acts in a measure that would earn them salvation if we all wre lined up and had nothing but our works and our actions. we would all suffer eternal death
i also believe we are free. that we were in fact set free for freedom. free, indeed.
but we should not use this freedom as an occasion for the flesh. that would be stupid & counterproductive to our hope.

"...This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. 5Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God." - 1 John 5:4-5

goodness, does that really say "
believe" ??

I've been saying this all along, but because we've all been engaged in bitter argument, neither of us would hear eachother.
is that not the reason this thread was started -- to look for & engage in bitter arguments?

Yes, I am God. :LOL::ROFL::p

(No, really I'm not God)

You should be concerned about your life because your life is the litmus test of whether you are saved or not.
Saving faith in a person is evidenced by the presence of the Spirit in a changed/ changing life.
No change of life means no salvation is present to effect that change.
where's that verse where Jesus says "whoever changes their behavior will have eternal life, even if they die, they will live" ?

hmm or maybe i'm thinking of another "
believe" verse.

for my part i believe that you need to actually believe.
i think a lot of this 'bitter argument' could be weeded out if we stopped referring to people who really don't actually believe as "believers"

Let’s be fair, it’s the same reason the Not By Works thread was started, and that’s why about a half dozen or so contribute to it regularly, to high five, like divisive posts, ridicule, name call, slander others in it daily. Several of them have joined this thread to carry on their tradition. They'll get the other one up and running now.

Interestingly we have an open theist heretic with free reign on this forum who gets a bye (yes he’s been reported) and a handful who deny the deity of Christ as well. Whatever @DBurrage did must have been worse, the other heretics are left untouched.

You have no idea who has faith or is born again....
Yes, I do have idea, because John told us how we can 'have an idea' who is born again and who is not:

7 The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous.
8 The one who does what is sinful is of the devil...
9No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God.
10This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God’s child, nor is anyone who does not love their brother and sister."
1 John 3

Why have so many people in the church decided John is wrong about this?
