how long do i have to be sober to not want to drink alcohol? im crazy whats going on guys? i saw some guy load up a nice 24pack at the store im thinking this is crazy. life is so boring. i didnt buy anything but come on

Brother I never really liked alchohol but I did used to drink fairly regularly, my main choice of vise in unbelief would have been ...weed....

I think it is different for everyone so the answer for how long it will take.... will be however long it takes to find joy in the fact you have left it behind... and how long it takes to enjoy normal life without the "aid" of outside influence....

Take it one day at a time and maybe find something you can do guilt free... if it keeps your mind away from the things God is telling you to remove from your life, it can still be productive...

Practice cooking or some other new skill where you end up with a finished product to appreciate or share...

Maybe for a time drink a bit of coffee and pick up reading out side of God's word again to stimulate the imagination (just spit balling)

I can't say how long it will take bro... but I can say it will pass and what you practice is what becomes easier... wether it's giving in or walking away...

Added for your information, we are saved eternally provided we do not deliberately turn away or grieve the Holy Spirit. These people do not accept that.

Of course, I am willing to discuss scripture.
You say that but usually you just play word games, take verses out of context and sidestep points....

Only someone who is not sincere would say many of the things you say.

It appears you don't care about truth. Or about helping anyone.

P.s. says "youre hurt" - to describe someone who says they arent hurt... false accusation to build the next less than honest strawman

P.s. says "that means what I am saying is the truth" - a false statement that would not instantly be true even if the initial false accusation was true.....

This sort of thing only comes from the flesh.

It is like talking to someone about scripture and debating about what a verse means and saying "the way i see it is the truth because it is what the bible says maybe you should read it" when the words in question could be argued to say something different than what you believe and the whole debate is over what it MEANS in CONTEXT....

The person who behaves that way is walking in the flesh. Obviously both people read the verse.

The same sort of people who don't know the first thing about love or patience will say silly things like

"you seem upset you must be convicted by my words"

after they press buttons by being dishonest but subtle or insulting🙄

You feel like this sort of person when I read your words that have no power or weight....

It is the straight forward rejection of scripture. Start there and then comes the help, but we need a solid foundation on which to build.

Growth and maturity are required to bear fruit.....and the branches DO Not produce fruit...JESUS does and we but bear the FRUIT.......
Jesus does produce the fruit, which is why the only requirement for bearing fruit is being saved, (Spirit of Christ) and loving Jesus.

Anyone who has the Spirit of Christ in them can bear fruit.

Then let's get you started on a solid foundation.

God eternally saves man appart from mans efforts by His mercy through faith in Christ who takes the punishment man deserves while at the same time gives man the righteousness needed to be seen as spotless before God.

I say this because what I have seen from you suggests God saves no one eternally until the end of the earth, and those who are saved are saved based on the status of their recent actions. (using Christ as no more than a starting line to salvation)

We can do nothing of ourselves, that is true. We do have to be ready for His coming, watching and waiting, and Christ is our all-in-all.

Dog walk time.

Jesus is the fruit inspector, not me.

No fruit, death.

Matt 21:43
"Therefore I tell you that the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people who will produce its fruit."

The seed in our hearts is imperishable.

1 Peter 1:23
For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.

John 15:5
If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

We know we have produced much fruit, and will continue to bear fruit because we remain in Him.
Do you believe Jesus and His word? It is quite clear and full of victory and hope.
Good Fruit is produced from love, not fear of losing salvation

Wrong..He does not cast away His children.
I agree. Sadly, they will sometimes cast Him away. This is how they can become cast away. He will not force anyone to follow Him. We must humble ourselves, take up our crosses daily, and follow Him, lest we become cast away. God bless you, my sister. I do have blessed assurance because I love Jesus, and He will never leave me nor forsake me. PTL!

It gives me no pleasure to see scriptures being dismissed as not relevant. I get the impression Jesus felt the same way I do. Nowhere are we told Jesus laughed.
We are not told Jesus has laughed in the gospels; however, Jesus was full of the Holy Spirit and had the joy of the Lord. It would seem very strange to me for him to have never laughed. I believe Jesus has laughed.

I have seen movies paint Jesus in a very expressionless way, but with reading Scripture, I don't get that kind of picture of him.

Another weak strawman not built on truth from you. You claim people who disagree with you dismissed scriptures as not relevant. That hasn't happened here.

Some people make it sound like Christ merely "initially" saved them, but now it's up to them to pull themselves up by their own bootstraps and keep themselves saved by working very hard to remain in Christ/keep believing/hold on tight to their faith etc.. as if it's an extremely difficult burden that many of us will surely fail to do and the Lord will so easily allow us to slip through His hands.
Let me assure you that this does not describe me. I have blessed assurance. I can relate to this disciple:

John 6
6:67 Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?
6:68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.

We cannot cast Him away either.
And "Him" and what "He" has done has much meaning and depth.
One example being we cannot cast away our righteous standing.
First and foremost what is the Gospel to you Oyster....because I can tell following Jesus is not the Gospel.

Amen. Jesus did seem to have a way with children. They could tell that He loved them:)
