Hi al
Until I was 25 I would occasionallly look into the Bible, but I could not read more than a line or two, with no understanding an it was jibberish to me.
I was a languge and linguistics major at the U of Il. and though fairly well read in English I was even more well read in French Literature. I was on the dean's list, so my achievement was somewhat excellent.
Oneday after an experience I hve recounted here on more than one occasion, the Holy Spirit entered into me. I was led to a turned down open book , blue, in the back room of a coffee house, to which I had been led by the Hoy Spirit. I picked up the open book and began to read. The words were alive and everything had me saying, this is true, oh this is true.
Lokking at the top of the pages it was the Book of Isaiah in the Oxford Study Bible. I could hardly put it down. The following day I bought an edition for me and read it constatly for three years, shasring with any and all the wonder I ws given of it.
Do not attmpt tomake anything logical about God or His Word, Jesus, unless you already have received dthe Holy Spirit for you can not. Upon receiving the Holy Spirit you will understand just how futile such a quest would be.
If it's in the bible it is to be understood by men otherwise it would be illogical not to.
The promise to Abraham and his seed was the ''land inheritance'' So irrespective of the word heaven...which can refer to the sky etc....No one flies away to heaven or to put it another way after dying lives on in a place outside of earth. No one is in some place skipping and holding hands with Jesus floating on fluffy clouds surrounded by rainbows.
We are promised the land inheritance after the resurrection, Until then if you die you are dead.
Just one example
Daniel 12v13 “As for you, go your way till the end. You will rest, and then at the end of the days you will rise to receive your allotted inheritance.”
No one has ascended to heaven except the son of man..
Acts 2v29 Fellow Israelites, I can tell you confidently that the patriarch David died and was buried, and his tomb is here to this day.
v34 For David did not ascend to heaven,
