The tongues spoken of in the bible refers to one kind " His prophecy". Not something we can offer toward Him .
I always love it when people who don't speak in tongues lecture everyone else about what it is and how it should be done.

By their tongue speakers' facial expressions, especially if they are looking around instead of even having their eyes closed or looking as they are focussed on God only. Also I went to 2 churches were it seemed all were saying the same like the leader. And similarly, in regards to special music and choir singers. I remember a special Easter presentation by a choir. Afterwards, I went to one of the performers who was a prayer warrior and told her that I noticed she had an angelic facial expression that no one else had. She gleamed and told me that she had prayed and fasted for 3 days that she would just be focussed on God and not on performing. I have complimented other worship team members, and they all have said that they are not performing but are just worshiping God.

And faking about interpretation of tongues is easily discerned by what is said not being Biblical and by differences of lengths.
Maybe if you spoke in tongues you would have a better understanding of it.

It would be helpful if the bible actually supported what you claim.

That sounds like pronouncing a curse on people and signing off with "God bless you". (Danger, Wilma Robinson!)
I don't like the gender bashing either. And that's for both genders. (yes, that means two genders)
First of all, I am not cursing anyone. Accuser?
I know there is two genders, I dont remember seeing myself saying only one exists.

Are you a victim of Cessationism? (sounds like it)
Do you really believe there is no biblical case for Continuationism? (the opposite of Cessationism)

First of all, I am not cursing anyone.
James 3:9-10
With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. 10 Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be.

Proverbs 18:21
The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

Well even though I speak in tongues I'd rather have the love of Christ, if you have no interpreter tongues is useless.
As for it being a sign that your saved....don't see it.
Now don't get me wrong. If God has given this gift it is purposed for a reason. The question is what reason.

Its not a sign of salvation. There are more than enough demonic tongues spoken and people thinking its of God because they dot test the spirit.
There are people who understand what they are saying and are edified by it. I think its an individual thing. Plus it is poweerful

"tongues" in SCRIPTURE means a KNOWN language. We know this because whenever we come on something that we do not understand we go back in the bible to a FIRST mention of it and see what was meant then. G. Gordon Campbell, theologian and paastor, described what is being done in the congregations in this century is the "last vomit of Satan"

Wow never heard of that before. 😮😮😮. I think many people seek this gift because to them it's the most super natural experience that they could have as a sign that is from God. Let's be honest here.
When on the other hand if this gift is not experienced in ones spiritual life then the complete opposite happens and they say it's not for today. This is the trap of Satan. The discord that these threads sow are evidence enough.
Are we still arguing who will be the greatest in the kingdom here?
Once we act as a family here and thank the Lord for the gifts to able his word to be heard no matter who he entrust with them
The better off we'll be.😎

I wonder what fear a man back from the dead would engender in Christians who want nothing they cannot explain with a 'that was not meant for today' knowing look and scowl to happen in their lives

saying you believe and seeing your belief are not the same

of course, if you cannot tell the difference between what is and what is not of God, best to stay safe

I have spoken in tongues many times since January 1975. I sang in tongues outside the Oaklawn Race Track in Hot Springs when I was helping a Gospel tract handing out ministry that a family had been doing for 13 years. Read my other posts and you will see a testimony that happened for me in Washington DC.

So I might have experienced the gift tongues more than you. And I am very sensitive to the Holy Spirit's other urgings and that is why I knew the pretending or demon-influenced. Same for the slain-in-the Spirit happenings too. The Bible says that the spiritual enemy can and will in Revelation do signs and wonders. Many will be deceived even some of the elect in the Revelation happenings.

Maybe 98% of tongues in charismatic churches and conferences might be just pretending to be accepted or demon urged. But we are not to condemn anyone. That will be done at the Great Throne of Judgment. This issue is not a Salvation stopper, but it can hinder individuals because of the confusion in denominational beliefs. But we are commanded not to resist or/and quench the Holy Spirit.
