This is a poll:

Ladies, if you found yourself in this situation what would you choose?
It is a reality that there is less males in the church these days (there was a thread mentioning this as well), which leave Christian ladies little options. I am not implying that the guys that are in church are duds, but we're not gonna go up to just any Christian Joe Smith to date, for the chance to marry and have babies. ANYWHO, I've been reading up on this phenomena and found that this issue of less men in the church and more single women in the church will only get worse. This is causing women to either date and marry outside of the church, or stay single within the church even if that means they will never marry.

My question to you ladies:

Would you date/marry someone outside the church?
Or would you wait and hope that God puts a Christian man in your life knowing this reality that there less men in church today?
Is age a factor in this decision?

Men, as always, your opinions matter, you are welcome to chime in.

I'm not a lady but I find there are few young single women in my church. I would rather wait and hope for a Christian girl than date a non-Christian. I wouldn't even entertain the thought. I just talk about God too much. :)

I don't think that there are only less men in the church today, there are less people of both genders who are true Christians now a days.

I would definitely not date/marry someone who is not a Christian. I've seen too many unequally yoked marriages end in divorce, although, I've also seen some that were equally yoked end in divorce too. But, I think dating/marrying a non-Christian just isn't wise for those of us who our relationship with God is important because you won't have that foundation of Christ in your relationship.

As far as age is concerned, I would want someone who is somewhat close in age to me, at least no more than 8-10 years older or 2-3 years younger.

Since you gave us permission :)p) to respond. I would not date a non-Christian. I've tried that a time or two and now i kick myself at the foolishness of it. Glad things didn't work out.

Age is a factor to me.

Far as the 'less men in church' concept, it seems to me that so much over emphasis is put on marriage, that is why women are running off marrying whoever, more so than the 'lack of men'.

I've thought about what I would say many times. I once dated a non christian and soon broke it off when I realized we both think way to differently about things. If I was ever asked out again by a non believer I would politely ask him if he goes to church, if he said no and asked why I would tell him I was sorry but I only date men who share my beliefs. He may not take it very well, but I would try and say it in the nicest way possible.

I've dated everyone.

Volunteer and do whatever you are passionate about. Guys do that kind of stuff too.

Usually that is where the compromise starts. I LOVE doing World Relief or Homeless stuff or Having a Bible Study in my Apartment. I'm going to look in situations where I'm in my element doing what I love first, before I look in church.

So I suppose in a sense if I was doing some OxFam Project and a Woman knew that I was a Christian and had the same passion that I do, I would probably be okay with dating her. She would have to know Christ before we could be married though.

I would not date a non-Christian either. My beliefs are very important to me and I want someone who I can fast, pray and go to church with. It is so important to have God first and I know and realize that at times I fail; to have someone by you who can relate and help you stand back with God is so crucial; I don't see how it could work out with a non-Christian.... at least not for me.

Only ever dated non-christians. But like Tintin said...I talk about God too much and scared them away.

Actually, I almost caught a believer once...

Dating non-christians could provide more valuable information. Besides, there are more options to convert meself a wife.

I've dated a nonchristian before, and probably would again. Nothing bad came of it. None of the horror stories people suggest like her ripping me away from christianity and converting me into a sinning heathen actually happened.

Guess I'll need to get my introverted butt out of Starbucks and school, and go find me a passion!

I've dated Christians and non-Christians. However, I wouldn't date a non-Christian and I am picky about the next Christian I date. He has to have a functioning relationship with Christ. No more settling for "Well, he at least shows up for church." mentality.
