well, i think it shows something about the mindset of this community. In all honesty, the first time I came on here, I anounced as a non-christian. And was more shunned and rebuked and told 'You're going to Hell', and cited scripture after scripture, than welcomed and befriended.

Jesus made a point of befriending his followers. Getting to know them.

I reviewed the paragraph RoboOp made. He did not proclaim any denomation nor promoted something. He is in fact right. The story he included quite affected me since I am a Filipino and I do understand that there is a great deception with regards to mary. I hope we all could get the point why he made this thread. He is concerned the way his mother in law believed that mary can save her. I remembered how my grandfather prayed to this altars and "rebultos". I could remember everytime he kneeled down and hold his rosary pray to that "sto nino". One time he got annoyed with us playing he stood up and scolded us using bad words. I felt this regret that I wish I couldve known the truth at my early age.

Well, there's a big difference between saying YOU disagree with their beliefs and that GOD does.

The Catholics follow a different doctrine, so God definitely does not approve.

God founded the Catholic Church, and gave her the authority to lead the people into the truth. One of us is deluded, and for your sake I would hope it is me.

Here is the problem. This is what you've been told to believe. What does the bible actually say? If you read it you'll see that the Catholic church teaches a different doctrine but rather than read you choose to defend that which you don't know. I say this because people do not see when they're being deceived. If God had not saved me and opened my eyes I would also be open to deception.

It's actually us born again believers who have the truth, the Holy Spirit dwelling in us. Just like the disciples who died for the truth, we must let our light shine and share truth with the rest of the world. It's what God has called us to do.

2 Timothy 4:2-5: "Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. Okay, THIS one I can answer. Matthew 18:20 "For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them." The assumption (pun not intended) is that we do the praying and Yeshua is already there, we don't need a middleman. I personally disagree with Catholic dogma on this, it makes it look like God needs the help.

You still didnt answer my question why do you ask others to pray for you like asking for group prayers? How is group prayer different than asking someone else to pray for you?

And also to add to this, based on what I got out of this thread from RoboOp and the administration here is they do tolerate and encourage bullying and harassment on this site against people who are Catholic because they are participating in it. This is the way I feel abut this and that tells me what types of leaders and role models they are. This is completely shameful of how they can contribute to a hostile environment against people who are Catholic.

This site is for believers to fellowship, discuss bible topics and share truth with the world. This isn't a website where we conform to Catholic teachings or any other teachings for that matter. If you're a Catholic using this site you have to accept that you may not agree with our bible studies when you follow what your church says. I know this thread is the result of a lot of Catholic heresies that have been floating around on the site lately and I can see RoboOp wanted to make it clear where he stands in setting up this site.

I never said you had to conform to Catholic teaching, all I said was that all religions including Catholicism needs to be respected. I am against proselytizing regardless of what it is. I just hate the fact that some people think they can just call names and label other people just because that person does not believe the same way. It is ok to disagree but it is not ok to harass others just because they are different than you.

This is so disrespectful that its unreal. That scripture you posted Katy, is extremely subjective, and in reality, a Catholic, or some other denomination, could just as easily use it to support their beliefs.

Did anywhere I say that the Gospel came from the Catholic church?? No I did not. But ALL subsequent churches, after the formation of the Roman Catholic one, altered the Catholic bible. The Catholic Bible which has the same gospels in it as the Protestant one. And the Baptist one. And the Methodist one. And practically any other one you can find. Denominationalism is a stupid, stupid excuse for some 'Christians' to belittle, condemn and judge others as having 'a flawed faith'. What makes YOU so sure that YOURS is even correct? It's snobbery. Cut it out.

This is what you've been told to believe. How can you be so sure that those extra books were ever legitimate to begin with? You can't be. Afterall, Satan has never been able to destroy the bible but one thing he can do is corrupt it to lead people astray. You have a Catechism also, which is part of your Roman system.

Here is a thought for you...

1 Cor 2:14: "But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned" - the bible is a spiritual book that can only be understood by born again believers because it's discerned only through the Spirit. Unless a person is spiritually born again they cannot understand th spiritual messages of the bible. They can understand the Gospel message as it is used to draw people by Faith to be saved. Only when a person is saved can they understand the bible and it's message. This is the truth. So all these people that have different interpretations of the bible - there is only one interpretation and it is discerned through the Spirit. You need the Spirit to understand.

The extra books are not Holy Spirit inspired. They were wrongfully added. The Spiritual messages in the bible all join together in unity and spell out the Gospel and instructions clearly. However, these extra books are like chalk compared with the cheese.

The reality is not everyone is saved. A person can say they are Christian but are they actually Christian? That is the question. Are you saved? I know I am. It's a supernatural experience, not a religious experience. One thing that happens when you're born again is you know you have eternal life. You have eternal security and know where you're going. You have a huge conviction of sins and I mean to the point where if you say something you realize it was a sin and feel incredibly bad about it and you're very sensitive to any sin in your life. You have a fear of God and naturally want to be obedient and do as He pleases. One thing that happened when I was born again - He took away my fear of the dark instantly, so I can happily walk around with no fear. I'm also very content. He filled a hole that I was trying to fill with other things. I am now complete and it's an amazing feeling that I don't need anything else. This among many many other things.

So, not everyone is Christian. On judgement say, many will say - Matthew 7:21-23: "Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’"

Katy, you are a hyppocrite. You say this site does not conform, then you say 'our bible teachings', as if the site is with you on your belief.
You all need to wake right up, get a kick in the ass and see the bigger picture. We are all to be respected as followers of Christ.

I bet if a Catholic, so convicted in their beliefs, came and treated you as you have treated them today, they'd get kicked.

Is it not the same God and Jesus catholics worship? Is it not the same story? Is it not a religion with over a billion followers? Were not the Romans the first people to be a MAJORITY in belief in Christianity? Yes, they were.

It was a man called Martin Luther who changed the ways of the church.

You see, this is where you want to be in the minority, not the majority.

Matthew 7:13-14: "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it"

The true church will be few/small in number (those who have the truth). Those on the broad road are MANY (possibly billions as you mention). We are instructed to be on the narrow road not the broad road. The broad road seems popular to the world but it is not the correct way.

You are spinning so many ways on scripture it's unreal. That verse about the narrow way is talking about it being a harder thing to be christian than to be not christian. Not about the size of churches.

Works do not save you. A kind heart will not save you. I bet there is a woman down the road who tries to live a good life and be kind to everyone but if she is not born again she's not going to Heaven.

Do you not think the will of God encompasses more than saying Hail Mary's?? I mean, wake up and smell the coffee. Have you looked at the world lately? It's a mess. There are kids dying by the thousands every day. There's baking heat, only getting hotter. There are people raping, murdering, hating, despising, killing. relationships breaking. Life's torn apart. And through all that, people are sitting here, spending their God-given time trying to pick holes in others faiths. In people who do the same good work and have the same belief in Christ that you do??

Loveme1, Catholics, contrary to your belief, do not believe that the Church has more authority than God. that would be absurd. But the church has the authority to teach about God. Peter was the first pope. He himself, was given authority to teach about God. To build the church. Brush up on your history, please. And stop condemning people.

Who said Peter was the first pope? Actually, Paul was one of the main leaders, but the disciples were all equally spreading the Gospel to the world. The first church started in Jerusalem actually, not Rome. It says so in the bible.

You say the church teaches about God but yet they disagree with scripture itself by placing traditions and sacraments and papal/priest authority as head of the church in place of Christ's sacrifice and sending of a helper (the Holy Spirit) to guide people to truth.

It's not a case of brushing up on history, more a case of reading your bible. Who knows, maybe even history is flawed somewhat as Satan is the deceiver. We must be weary of all things. The bible is incredible and allows us to discern all truth and falsehoods.
