I disagree with those who promote rigid observance of Law in order to be righteous. I do not say such things in isolation.
Galatians 3: 1-5
O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified. I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law, or by hearing with faith?
Are you so foolish? After starting in the Spirit, are you now finishing in the flesh? Have you suffered so much for nothing, if it really was for nothing? Does God lavish His Spirit on you and work miracles among you because you practice the law, or because you hear and believe?
This was written by one of the foremost scholars of the Law. We do well to take him seriously.

"So there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. And because you belong to him, the power* of the life-giving Spirit has freed you* from the power of sin that leads to death." (Romans 8:1-2, Tyndale House Publishers, Inc NLT)

Romans 5:9 "And since we have been made right in God's sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God's condemnation. For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son. So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us Friends of God" (Tyndale House, NLT)
"We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with love. When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. Now, most people would not be willing to die for a person who is especially good. But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners" (Tyndale House, NLT)
Romans 2:22 "Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege?" (Christian Art Publishers Holy Bible King James Version)
"Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only
so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; and patience experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commandeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him." (Romans 5:1-9 Christian Art Publishers Holy Bible King James Version)
A friend of a friend is your friend. Let the better be the friend of the good, and the friend of your enemy be your enemy. Pray for your enemies, and do unto others as you would have them do unto you. This prayer gives me hope in endurance:
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
What is this? or What does this mean?
I believe that by my own understanding or strength
I cannot believe in Jesus Christ my Lord
or come to him,
but instead the Holy Spirit
has called me through the gospel,
enlightened me with his gifts, made me holy,
and kept me in the true faith,
just as he calls, gathers, enlightens, and makes holy
the whole Christian church on earth
and keeps it with Jesus Christ
in the one common, true faith.
Daily in this Christian church
the Holy Spirit abundantly forgives all sins --
mine and those of all believers.
On the last day the Holy Spirit will raise me
and all the dead
and will give to me and all believers in Christ
eternal life.
This is most certainly true.
"One day as he saw the crowds gathering, Jesus went up on the mountainside and sat down. His disciples gathered around him, and he began to teach them." Matthew 5:1-2 NLT
