Not many have said they are made void.
But many have said we can't keep them
Or they say they only apply to the Jews or they say they have changed..
By saying we can't keep them or they are changed, they are saying they are not valid today.
Do you believe we should aim to obey the 10 commandments by the power of The Holy Spirit. Through Christ's imparted righteousness can you obey all of the 10 commandment?
A. I, for one, am NOT saying the
moral law is ONLY for the Jews or that the
essence of Moses 10 moral commands are
no longer valid for believers. God, who made us knows the way we should go. In His
Parable of the Unfaithful Servant (Luke 12:35-40)
Jesus presents the case of a servant awaiting his masters return. He describes
two possible outcomes which depend on whether the servant is
faithful or unfaithful In the parable, the unfaithful servant is described as one who say in his heart:
48....‘My master delays,’
49 and should begin to
beat his fellow servants, and to
eat and to drink with those being drunkards,
50 the master of that servant will come in a day in which he does not expect, and in an hour which he is unaware,
51 and
will cut him in pieces, and will a
ppoint his place with the hypocrites,
where there will be
weeping and gnashing of teeth.
(
Matthew 24:49-51)
Note that this "appointment" or reappointment represents a
radical change from the
outcome originally planned for Him.
B. This parable is not referring to someone who yields to temptation, commits a sin and subsequently repents but, rather to a person who falls a habitual "lifestyle" of sin.
C. As to whether we CAN obey God's will. Certainly, we cannot do so by our own strength. Jesus said "without Me you can do nothing" However, Paul also said "I am able to do all things through him who strengthens me (Phil 4:13)
D. All that being said, I do not believe we should make keeping the Ten Commandments our goal rather the commands of Jesus
