Dont act like my kin in Louisiana when somebody is not speaking their native language. She used to be sitting in her front porch swing, quite annoyed by French tourists trying to strike up a conversation with her, in French, I have to add, and then be cursing them out of her premises (and most likely out of the state as well while she was at it) for not speaking proper French! In her own mind real French was the language developed by the Cajuns who inhabited the swamplands in Louisiana over the centuries and not that thing they spoke over in France.😂😂😂

Well that's funny, because the French in Quebec is the proper French they say, and you better believe it. But yeah, France wouldn't accept them when they tried to leave Canada.... cause they weren't French enough.

I think Trump will make an offer they can't refuse. No one with a brain wants China/Russia coming down through Canada. Lord knows Canada can't stop them.

Most likely they won’t even try that path. Canada, Greenland and Alaska are vast areas with a climate that would take a toll too high for anyone’s acceptance. The front line would be so long that if some of their soldiers could get through even the leftists in Portland would easily tear them apart with their chanting.

Military equipment would be useless out there. The cold would halt everything. Hitlers ‘Barbarossa’ would come across as a great idea in comparison. Then the Arctic summer…a H***hole of quagmires, rivers, lakes, mosquitoes…

All above mentioned is related to strategically and tactically significant powers. China and Russia have yet to reach that level of warfare. Besides, they are not going to trust each other enough to do anything that would risk giving the other country the upper hand.

I honestly do hope you're right. But an ounce of prevention...

Three battlefields setting up. One in the Black sea. The other in the North Atlantic/Baltic sea area. The other in the area between NORTHCOM/SOUTHCOM at the entrance of the Gulf of Mexico. The ice is not only melting and opening the route between Greenland and the Baltic sea. The Panama Canal because of lack of rainfall is being reduced in usage. The Panama Canal begins at sea level and after going through it's locks raises in altitude to about 85 feet above sea level then goes back down in elevation to sea level on the other side. A Carrier can not go through the Panama Canal because it's flight deck is too wide. To get from the US east coast to the Pacific it has to cross the Atlantic enter the Mediterranean, go thru the Suez canal then the Arabian sea, into the Indian ocean and into the Pacific or go all the way around Africa or South America and back up. In the event of war every ship in the Black sea is trapped and must get out and every ship in the Gulf of Mexico is trapped the same. The problem in the Gulf is the Mississippi and the amount of goods that go up and down it. All of this is playing out because of a hoax refereed to as global warming that everyone claims doesn't exist but everyone is reacting to all the same.

First of all: I am from North Europe. Specifically from Norway.

Now; what we see from the news here is that Mr Trump wants Greenland. Are you in doubt of that?
Just listen to what Mr Trump says, he said : "We need Greenland !"

He has repeated this over and over. Now, Greenland is not part of US. It's a part of the kingdom of Denmark.
Much like Alaska is a part of US. Understand?

So, if Greenland is of Denmark, but Mr Trump wants it, how can he accomplish that? Through violence?
This is just an (another) example of how Mr Trump acts, and I have to ask you:

Are his intentions and acts in accordance with christian thinking and behaviour? And of course this is not limited to Mr Trump alone, we have to include his friends in his administration, like Mr Vance. Isn't he a catholic? How can one support these intentions in accordance with catholic ethics and thinking?

I just have to ask you.

Trump is not a Christian.

Now as a resident of Norway....
Greenland is as you said. Part of Denmark.

But Greenland citizens have a choice. Especially because they have legitimate complaints.

Denmark is not protecting Greenland. Greenland chief industry used to be fishing. But Chinese boats have removed ALL the fish every year for decades.
Those fish the Chinese have not removed the Russian fishing boats have. Everyone is getting fish except the people of Greenland.

Denmark does nothing.

Greenland residents visit Denmark and get treated as if they came from Africa or something....no acknowledgement of same culture or heritage.

So Trump has offers Greenland citizens cash money, security, and fishing protection if they join with the USA.

They are "thinking about it" and haven't come to any decisions yet. Because most are not familiar what being a part of the USA can do for them or will stop them from doing.

Greenland is kinda a unique place in the artic circle. (Lots of cousin marriages as does Pakistan and India....but with a LOT fewer people)

Lots of natural beauty and wilderness.

The USA wants it for mining and refining....as well as national security for a missile defense system to be stationed there. The EU is not interested in spending enough for their own self defense....they want the US to be the world police force....as if. So the USA can't count on Europe for anything except excessive regulations (which would prohibit the mining and refining of rare earth elements)

So....
Greenland would get jobs, fishing again, hunting again, school money for teaching children and libraries. What they lose is government paid medicine. They will have to pay for the doctors and health clinics tbey use themselves. (But they advertise constantly...kinda crazy stuff too)
They also will have to pay for electricity. (Not a function of government) but the fees are small.

So....
It's a complicated situation for the Greenlanders. They are deliberating about it all.

From a Greenlander point of view....

Kinda scary in a lot of ways. American courts? They have zero clue how to function inside them. What is legal vx illegal will change instantly. (Except for the obvious)
Will riding a snowmobile and having a couple of drinks be a crime? (Not many roads in the long winters and previously not illegal just stupid) How about fishing? Licenses? How about prosecuting those infringing on my fishing spots in the middle of the ocean?

Life in Greenland is unique in a lot of ways in the frozen tundra. Cities are as well. Cousin marriages are extremely common. (Unavoidable)

Ronald Reagan was known for many famous lines....but this one comes to mind: "HI, I'm from the government, I'm here to help. " is one of the scariest things you will ever hear.

And the fishing is another issue.
How do we keep the American Commercial fishermen away from Greenland, They can be just as bad as Chinese fishermen or worse if you let them.

Currently our congress is a bunch of self aggrandizing and money grabbing criminals. Doing things that they have gleefully prosecuted civilians over....even famous ones. They investigated the wealthiest Televangelists once....everyone from Creflo Dollar to Joyce Meyers. They didn't prosecute them but stole their ideas about how to funnel illegal money to themselves. (Disgusting imho)

They have yet to do anything this last year. One of the worst we have ever seen. And it's not due to the filibuster....

One piece of legislation full of pork and obvious graft Trump vetoed....then they couldn't overturn the veto.

Trump is out in three years...
He may be honest and fair. But will subsequent presidents and congresses?

Norwegian guy, here's a song from your country and your people. I liked and still like this band a lot when i was growing up because they were always positive and upbeat in their songs which of course is something i enjoyed very much.
I attribute this positivity to their healthy vitamin D levels ... i think. (y)

The guy from Norway is probably just hearing things his government was saying on their news and reacting to it. In Norway they don't spend a lot on their Navy so they only have 6 submarines and about 8 smaller type naval vessels. Instead they spend most of their time and money setting up Norway's beaches as if getting ready for a scene out of one of the D day movies. In Norway when WW3 begins the thinking is they will get invaded something similar to the opening scenes of Saving Private Ryan. It is most probably correct but instead of the allied forces hitting the beaches it will be Russians. With Norway's population at 5.6 million divided by 3 you get 1.89 million soldiers if you put every man and women between 18-65 on the front line and then you have no one left for reinforcements as you suffer losses. I bet it is a rather scary reality to have to face when their news is saying the US is pulling troops out of Europe and telling them they need to protect themselves. Other European nations may be able to help but if you live in Norway it's more comparable to fortifying the walls of the Alamo, eventually Sana Anna is going to overrun it if Sam Houston isn't coming. In our world some just have a harder reality to face is all and Norway's is this one.

Russia shares a border on their east. The western coastline is and has been on the European side.
The area is almost tribal in culture. Sparse almost artic conditions most of the year. Not a lot of people...not quite Greenland but close.

I have been in arctic training in Norway. The main problem the Norwegians are facing is the thought of not being a target of Russian aggression. This mindset, however, has been severely mitigated by Finland entering NATO. Finland knows how to fight Russia, and our administration would be foolish not to acknowledge that.

So instead of acting like an idiotic dictator claiming Greenland (or maybe it’s just me thinking it’s a detour from the Epstein files), cooperate with our allies instead of acting like the idiot in command.

Good points.
So basically these folks from Norway really need US support you’re saying?
And they’re being very grateful for US support?
They’re not saying “ah what do those dumb fat Americans know?”

I can see how this one way relationship works from the point of view of “allies”.

That’s why he (the op) came in here cluelessly trying to guilt trip us here about NATO.

We’ve been cooperating with Norway since the end of WWII. There’s no other country in the world operating so many American “stuff”, to put it mildly, in order to wave off the Russians.

I don’t know what way homeland security would judge you, but if you managed to get your way through, you probably would agree with me.

Taking over Greenland is the only way to get their national flag changed away from something that looks like a road-sign or a DOT shipping hazard-warning sticker.

:D I like spicy discussions because spice brings good flavor into food but if you take all the spice away the core message is this:

Trump has a mandate because he was elected by the people on an America first promise which he’s keeping.

He won because the left has lost touch with the middle class.

They will always hate him because he’s a straight shooter since he’s been dealing with baureocrats in New York since 1980 (watch a few documentaries about him) and he knows their ways.

He’s got 3 more years in the office so let’s see if the left can do better on the next election.

A lot of what Trump is doing is essentially reversing Obama doctrines.

That’s all I can think of in terms of core messages without adding any spice to it.
I’m sure there’s a few more I’m missing but that’s all I can think of for now.

In all the nations referred to as Scandinavia there are around 22-23 million people so not much of a chance against Russia without NATO. It's as if we are standing in a nursing home talking about the elderly not having any chance while they are sitting in chairs behind us listening.
