FOUNDATION, the 12 apostles or Pauls?

Eternity is a long time, we better make sure we are following JESUS and HIS word, going down the straight and narrow path.

Do we jump over the book of Acts because it's a transitional book as so so many claim, ignoring it and go right to Paul’s letters? Or, accept the book of Acts because it is the FOUNDATION and not a transitional book?

The foundation of the book of Acts is believe in JESUS, repent, water baptism in JESUS name and need to receive the Holy Ghost to be reborn. Acts 2:38.

Following the same path that JESUS and HIS disciple took along with Paul before he started his ministry.

OR, is the book of Acts a transitional book and we are saved by grace and or faith ALONE?

Below you will see GOD'S words not anyone's opinion or personal interpretation of HIS word.

Why didn't Paul mention the need to be water baptized or receive the Holy Ghost to be saved?

Many do not understand and the outcome is going to be devastating.

Nowhere after the book of Acts will you see specific instructions on the how to be reborn or saved, NO WHERE why?

ALL OF Paul's letters WERE NOT written to the unsaved, but to the saved or reborn.

After the book of Acts in Paul's letters he was giving instructions about how to live, what to do as Christians to reach the lost, what happens in water baptism, and things about the Holy Ghost. Off the milk and on the MEAT.

Through Paul’s travels he heard different problems in the churches and was addressing the problems in each of his letters.

His letters included both CORRECTION and PRAISE.

If you were there to hear the instructions Paul gave that birthed churches it would be the same message as the rest of JESUS disciples. See Acts 19 it shows what Paul told the people to do.

Paul did NOT have his own gospel. Notice how he introduces himself PAUL AN APOSTLE OF JESUS CHRIST.

Look who the letters are addressed to,

1 Corinthians,
1 Paul called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother,
2 Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both their's and our's:

2 Corinthians,
1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, unto the church of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints which are in all Achaia:

Romans,
1 Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,
2 (Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,)
3 Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;
4 And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:
5 By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:
6 Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ:
7 To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Galatians,
1 Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead;)
2 And all the brethren which are with me, unto the churches of Galatia:

Ephesians,
1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:

Philippians,
1 Paul and Timotheus, the servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus which are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:

Colossians,
1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timotheus our brother,
2 To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ which are at Colosse: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Thessalonians,
1 Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians which is in God the Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

2 Thessalonians,
1 Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:

All letters after the book of Thessalonians had nothing to with Paul’s ministry to churches.

Back to Paul

Proof Paul followed JESUS along with the rest of JESUS disciples is seen in what happened in the beginning stages of when he started the church of Ephesus Acts 19. For some reason Paul questioned whether the 12 disciples had the Holy Ghost yet. He found out the men did not know what happened at Pentecost. He told them about JESUS and they got baptized. And after Paul laid hands on them they received the Holy Ghost.

Acts 19,
1 And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples,
2 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.
3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism.
4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.
7 And all the men were about twelve.
8 And he went into the synagogue, and spake boldly for the space of three months, disputing and persuading the things concerning the kingdom of God.
9 But when divers were hardened, and believed not, but spake evil of that way before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated the disciples, disputing daily in the school of one Tyrannus.
10 And this continued by the space of two years; so that all they which dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.

After Paul baptized those folk, and they received the Holy Ghost he stayed there for 2-3 years building the church of Jews and Gentiles.

If anyone debates Paul preached a different message, it's HIS word your debating not with me.

I bet there will be a lot of people who share Paul's letters trying to prove Paul said we are saved by grace or faith alone using Paul letters and debate HIS word.

BEFORE you do, read from the top with an open heart and look , Paul an apostle of Jesus Christ and each and every letter is to a church, not the unsaved.

We CAN'T debate HIS word, it says what it say and means what it means.

Informative, thanks
I see getting water baptized for me is a good conscience between God and me. I saw me willingly doing it, thanks to God for me. My response in thanksgiving and praise to God
I do not see having to do it to be in With people. As Churches do this getting anyone to be a member of thier church. Is deceit to me, and might not be, those there might be real. Yet matters not to me why?
Jesus Christ is being preached and people hear, and yes many get deceived, yet God stands closer than any heartbeat for us all to hear tuth over errors here in this world still.
I see contentment as Paul speaks of in Philippians Thank you Father and Son as One (Won) for us all to choose to believe God or not thank you
New life is in the risen Son, Father given to all that will not quit beleif to this love and mercy of Son given at the cross, for me at least

Why do people fight baptism? Do they think it will displease God if they do it thinking it's something they have to do?

freed to do it. No more under Law., now upholding Law as good for to do it, Willingly
All Law fulfilled in Jesus, includes man made laws. In Jesus it is fulfilled for us to respond and support Law and abide by Faith, one does this in God's spirit and Truth for therm in risen Son to them, at least, this be what I am learning.
John Baptized with water, Jesus Baptizes with Spirit and Truth of Father, Father approved, Jesus is now risen to never die ever again, Thank You Father
John did not want to Baptize Jesus. John even said that to Jesus.
I am not worthy, he needed Baptized by Jesus
Jesus said for now to do it, that he was here to do all that was right under Law
Being Baptized by John, John was a Levitical Priest, Jesus would not have been water Baptized by the other Levitical Priests. Jesus was not born a Levite.
John the Baptist, knew what these other Priests were like, and left them, not understanding exactly why, until he saw his cousin Jesus coming towards him. He then knew his cousin Jesus was/ is the Messiah and Water Baptized him in, adopted as a Levite Priest. To fulfill Law and Prophets (Matt 5:17) Now at the willing death he completed the Law, and prophets that predicted his coming here on earth to do it
He did it as said in John 19:30. It is finished. then three days later risen Hebrews 9:14-17 where new life is offered for everyone to decide to believe God sincerely. God, loves us all or not, ypu decide
So make the choice and stop the arguing and fighting over it, Please 1 Cor 3. Start growing up in God's maturity Hebrews 5:12 through Chapter 6 and see this love from God through Son for all thank you Dad

One comment:

the word translated as "ghost" is "wind, breath, spirit".. there is no ghost

Probably. hoever believes and is baptized shall be saved as it says in Mark 16:16. When I came to the faith I read that verse and got baptized after reading it, as simple as that. Childlike faith.

The KJV translators chose the word "ghost". Unfortunately, since 1611, the meaning of the word "ghost" has changed somewhat. No translator would choose "ghost" today unless they were trying to emulate the KJV or another 500-year-old version.

So, your argument is academic, not substantive. The Holy Spirit is not a "ghost" as we use the term today. It's not worth being dogmatic.

Sir, if you will use Strong's commentary and look up the word Ghost you will find the actual word is exactly as I said,

here is a report from the web showing it began in the 16th century

During the Middle Ages, Christian translators created a way to make the English Bible ---- reflect -- their belief---

---that the Holy Ghost was not the Holy Spirit.---

These theologians -- coined the phrase--- "Holy Ghost" to designate the Third Person of the Trinity. In contrast, they used "Holy Spirit" to refer to the Spirit of God or Spirit of the LORD encountered by the Hebrews and Jews in the Old Testament.

Then, in the 16th century, Bible printers reinforced this distinction by introducing capital and small letters. In the OT they used "spirit" and "holy spirit." In the NT they printed "Spirit" and "Holy Ghost," but with subtle distinctions.

These translation and printing differences do not exist in the Bible itself, in either Hebrew or Greek.

They are invented theological biases – imported - into the (English) Bible.

They provided both verbal and visual validation for the already existing “conviction” --- that Christianity --- must be separated from its Hebraic/Jewish foundations

3 Reasons to Use Better Bible Study Resources than Strong’s

1. Strong’s dictionary entries lend themselves to abuses.
First, Strong included Hebrew and Greek dictionaries—but nobody ever seems to read the fine print to discover what exactly he was trying to do in his entries. These dictionaries therefore sometimes lend themselves to abuses. Just the other day, a Christian said to another Christian online (where else?), “Most English-speaking believers don’t know the true meaning of the words in their Bible.” And to illustrate, he quoted Strong’s (and, as it happens, mixed up Hebrew and Greek entries). “When you read the word ‘trust’ in English,” he said, “you may not realize that in Hebrew and Greek, what it really means is ‘believe, trust, place trust in, RELY, CONFIDE—to entrust (especially one’s spiritual well-being to Christ).’”

2. Strong’s dictionary entries often tempt people to make “meaning soup.”
They’re not a soup, either, of all those meanings mixed together, that you can then pour into other Bible passages. This is a second reason you should probably replace Strong’s dictionary: people love to make meaning soup with Strong’s. Take the definition I just quoted from social media. It doesn’t work: the Greek word for “trust” clearly does not always mean “to entrust one’s spiritual well-being to Christ.” How do we know this? Because the demons “believe”—same Greek word (Jas 2:19)—but they haven’t entrusted themselves to Jesus. Dictionaries like Strong’s tend to invite Bible readers to load up Bible words with more meaning than the Spirit intended. Context, not hidden Hebrew and Greek meanings, tells you what level or quality or object of trust is meant.

3. Strong’s dictionary can lead Bible readers into word-study fallacies.
Third, Strong’s dictionary sometimes leads unwary readers straight into word study fallacies. For example, under the simple, common New Testament Greek word for “rejoice,” you get this: “from ἄγαν agan (much) and 242 [the word “jump”]; properly to jump for joy, i.e., exult.”

But words mean what they are used to mean in any given time period, not necessarily what they used to mean. So it simply isn’t true that agalliao means “much jumping.” That meaning doesn’t work, at least not everywhere the word occurs: Mary says in the Magnificat that her “spirit rejoices in God her Savior” (Luke 1:47); her spirit didn’t “much jump.”

Essentially, Strong's Dictionary is not like a modern academic dictionary which gives definitions of words as they are used in contemporary English. Strong's provides the definitions of words as they were used in the KJV.

Please look up the greek word "pneuma", that is the word that is used, for that matter look up the word they translate as easter -- that word is Passover.

and in the NKJV there is no ghost

What makes you think I do not know what the word for spirit is? As was stated, the word ghost is archaic. Please look up English in the Middle Ages.

Since I NEVER said a thing about the word 'ghost', why are you addressing me as though I made any mention of it all? Would that be because your advice about using Strongs is not UTD on experts who translate when so much more is now known about original languages?

Hey I have a Strongs myself bought back when that was the recomendation. :giggle: Before I really started to study and do research.

freed to do it.

So your saying you was baptized in JESUS name?

I think your saying some churches do it to become members?

If so I do agree, makes no since since that is not in HIS word.

The purpose of baptism is very clear in HIS word, to remove our sins.

You are right we are no longer under the law, when JESUS died it died with him.

If you could just say what you want instead of explaing it I would be able to understand better.

Are you saying I'm starting an argument??????

Then you refer to letters to churchs?????

I am just shaing HIS word on how to be reborn with the ONLY foundation to do so.

You do know, the foudation of being reborn didn't start until JESUS accended right? Which is Acts 1, which is still in effect today right?

Sorry, GOD BLESS YOU.

Thank you, I work with my hands no college.

I know your just trying to help me and sure do need it, lol.

I LOVE JESUS and just follow the book HE gave us, it says ghost It's ghost.

I will bet that when JESUS had HIS word translated HE did it just the way HE wanted it to be.

In HIS word 'Holy Spirit" is mentioned 7 times, OT and NT.
"Holy Ghost" 90 times NT only.

HIS word is HIS word, that's what I'm sticking with.

Thank you GOD BLESS YOU.
