that view utterly fails to account for Christ specifically calling the individual man Judas the son of perdition.
Judas was not a pope. he was an apostle. and he is a specific individual man, not a 'system' of bishopric.
  • Judas is the "son of perdition" as an individual because of his betrayal of Jesus, despite being one of the twelve apostles and having intimate knowledge of the truth.
  • The papacy is also referred to as the "son of perdition" in biblical prophecy because it represents a systematic rejection of the true teachings of Christ and leads others into apostasy.
  • Both Judas and the papacy share a common trait: they had been entrusted with the truth, but they chose to betray it for personal gain and power, resulting in spiritual ruin and perdition.
Thus, while Judas was an individual, the term "son of perdition" can also be applied symbolically to the apostate system that follows in his footsteps — rejecting the truth, despite having once been entrusted with it. The Bible draws a direct parallel between Judas’s personal betrayal and the systemic betrayal of the papacy, highlighting the devastating consequences of rejecting the gospel of Jesus Christ.
... also it's not an accurate statement to say 'the protestant reformers' said this. there were a LOT of reformers and a lot of various views during that time of segregation from Rome.

Many of the Reformers were coming out of the dark ages of biblical doctrine ignorance, imposed on them by the Papacy, to more easily control them, physically as well as spiritually. And when these individual "reformers" came to the realization of who the papacy was by studying God's Word, Bible Prophecy in particularly, ( the same way as we can ) they ALL, came to the same understanding, that the Papacy is the Antichrist power, in the world, that was attempting to control their conscience and killing them, ( wearing out the Saints, Daniel 7:25, Daniel 12:7, Revelation 12:6 ) when the Catholic Church couldn't, get them to RECANT what the Papacy considered heretical doctrinal statements. For sure they disagreed on many other issues, but still .....

This is all common knowledge, now, in history books and online if you'll just look ... you can come to these same conclusions.

BTW Christians celebrated the resurrection of Christ on sundays long before there was any such thing as bishops much less a papacy.
The ant-Christ spirit has been active as soon as THE Christ was in the World. ... and the TRUTH still remains, that there is NO where in scripture, where The Father or The Son, changed the solimnity of the 7th Day Sabbath to the 1st Day ... Nor did God change His Times ( His Sabbath )or Laws (Commandments) as He prophecied the "man of lawlessness, would do.

  • Daniel 7:25 – And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.
  • ( = the 1260 years of Papal supremacy. the Dark Ages, where God's Word, couldn't shine, because the Papacy had it locked up in Latin, chained to a pulpit, when it was illegal to have your own bible, punishable by DEATH. ~> How very anti-Christ of them :-) )

I'm sure some, "So called, "Christians" did very early on. The mixing of sun worship with "The Way" movement, which formed into a "Roman paganized Christianity" that developed into this formal version that we have TODAY.

1 John 2:18 "... and as you have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; ..."
1 John 4:3 " ... whereof you have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world."
2 John 7 7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

We Christians have theorized about the story of Simon Magus, ( Simon the Magician ) who, was said to have gone on to Rome, after being rejected by Peter. Simon Magus became a "magician" for the Emperor Nero, ( a VERY evil dude ) .. which, IMHO ( and others, researching extra biblical historical references ) .. could very well have been the beginning of an alternate corrupted "christian" church, at Rome, amalgamating witchcraft ( Satanism / paganism ) and the pagan Roman god ( Mithra-ism) , ( eg. idol worship ) mixed with Christianity, that we see today.

be sure and keep Collosians 3 in mind while you do (y)

Oh, definitely keep "Collosians 3" in mind. But since that is not part of the Bible, spelling is important, I don't know that it makes a difference. Now if you meant Colossians that might mean something.

But be wary of Colossians 2:20, that specific verse can be translated 6 different ways depending on how you apply the punctuation and the word order in English, 5 of the possibilities are present if you look at enough different versions.

“ Posthuman” ! I also have noticed your forum icon to be ... um ? ... Kinda strange ... But then when you used the word “Bishopric” ...
... I believe understanding came to me ... “perinde ac cadaver”

examine yourself ;)
ofcourse true Christianity would be considered a "cult" by main stream, denominational dispensational christianity.
Just as Jesus was considered a cult leader, by the "mainstream" religious leaders of His time... Thank YOU Jesus !!
Just like Israel, persecuted and killed God's prophets in the old testament, because the religious leaders & Kings, didn't want to hear what God had to say to them ... eg. " Serve & Obey" ;-)

Matthew 23:
29 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because you build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchers of the righteous,
30 And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.
31 Why you be witnesses to yourselves, that you are the children of them which killed the prophets.
32 Fill you up then the measure of your fathers.
33 You serpents, you generation of vipers, how can you escape the damnation of hell?
¶
34 Why, behold, I send to you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them you shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall you whip in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city:
35 That on you may come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom you slew between the temple and the altar.
36 Truly I say to you, All these things shall come on this generation.
37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you that kill the prophets, and stone them which are sent to you,

ofcourse true Christianity would be considered a "cult" by main stream, denominational dispensational christianity.
Just as Jesus was considered a cult leader, by the "mainstream" religious leaders of His time..

huh...

so, because neither history nor orthodoxy nor scripture itself agrees with you, you must be right?

weird, unsupportable argument you got there for a reply, neighbor.
flat earth much?
