I choose this ceremonial law that is valid and one of the most powerful ordinances, I have ever
seen in the scripture. It is one of the paramount commandments ever given to Israel.

Deuteronomy 26:13
You shall say before the Lord your God, ‘I have removed the sacred portion from my house, and also
have given it to the Levite and the alien, the orphan and the widow, according to all Your commandments
which You have commanded me; I have not transgressed or forgotten any of Your commandments.

I regard that as a commandment and have a serious problem with the ten word flock.
You seem to pick and choose from the laws.. but as soon as a commandment comes against your lifestyle or means you need to deny self, then you find a way to remove it.

The 10 commandments are not the only laws I aim live by. But they are a central part.

The whole Bible is full of principles to help us live more like Christ.

How do we a fallen people get to pick and choose which laws we want to obey..

I believe that if God states it we need to obey it by faith.

Many say that 9 out of the 10 are valid today but the forth is only for the Jews.

That's a weak argument.

Jas 2:8-12
8 If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well: 9 But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors. 10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. 11 For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law. 12 So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.

I agree that the OT made no distinction between ceremonial and moral laws.
I derive my view from the NT, especially Hebrews 7:11-10:1, and I discern that
all moral laws are summarized by the law of love, and the Sabbath Law belongs in the Levitical/ceremonial group.
Why?

The sabbath was given at creation and marriage was given at about the same time.

The sabbath was sanctified by God as a day of rest before sin entered.

The sabbath is a wonderful gift from God and is also the only commandment that distinguishes The God we worship from other gods.

It is a sign..

Anyone or false god could say don't kill, don't lie, or that we should love each other and love god.

No other gods claim to have created the world in 6 days and rested on the seventh.

It is not a levitical law because it was made for man before sin.

Heb 4 talks about the day of rest, the sabbath made at creation is clearly referred to ...
Heb 4:9-10
9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. 10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

But this Sabbath rest is not removed or replaced in this text.

It is used to explan the rest we are going to have in Jesus when He takes us into the promised land.. The context is important.

The type is when Joshua took Israel into the promised land and gave the land promised to the 12 tribes.

Then the land had rest.

It was by faith in God's power that they came into this promise.
By faith that had fruits in obedience.

The typology.. antitype is Christ taking us home to the promised land.

God gave them all they needed, food, water and all their provisions were suplied. Christ will give us this rest if we follow Him by faith.

But Israel didn't obey their Lord
they didn't have faith and their fruits were shown in disobedience..

Heb 3:19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

Heb 4:9-10
9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. 10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

When you read it with an open mind and understand the meaning. I can not see any reason to say the sabbath command is replaced by Jesus..
I see reason to keep it all the more.

Well, one reason is because breaking the Sabbath command was punishable by death, which the Jews who executed Jesus enforced.

Hey...it's all good. I mean the Bible says that Jesus is our Sabbath so I mean yah know? Whoever wrote Hebrews had no knowledge of the great interpretations that would come along centuries later so he was kinda working with only half knowledge and probably ignorant back in those days

4 Therefore, since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it. 2 For we also have had the good news proclaimed to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because they did not share the faith of those who obeyed.[a] 3 Now we who have believed enter that rest, just as God has said,

“So I declared on oath in my anger,
‘They shall never enter my rest.’”
And yet his works have been finished since the creation of the world. 4 For somewhere he has spoken about the seventh day in these words: “On the seventh day God rested from all his works.” 5 And again in the passage above he says, “They shall never enter my rest.”

6 Therefore since it still remains for some to enter that rest, and since those who formerly had the good news proclaimed to them did not go in because of their disobedience, 7 God again set a certain day, calling it “Today.” This he did when a long time later he spoke through David, as in the passage already quoted:

“Today, if you hear his voice,
do not harden your hearts.”

8 For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another day. 9 There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; 10 for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his. 11 Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience.

12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. 13 Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

Jesus the Great High Priest
14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. 16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Just accept that the philosopher Augustine who called the ten words the "moral law'. And the rest
of the law he called the 'symbolic law'. Was the person who generated the first divide in the law.
He did the preparation, the ground work for a later theologian.

The division of Mosaic law into moral, civil, and ceremonial categories was formalized by the
theologian Thomas Aquinas in the 13th century.

Thomas Aquinas is probably the greatest of the Catholic theologians.

The views of Augustine have been held in both Catholic and Protestant Churches, taught by both Arminian
and Calvinist theologians. Augustine taught many false doctrines such as the sinless life of Mary, praying to the dead,
persecuting heretics, infant damnation, infant baptism, baptismal regeneration.

You wonder why I react to your posts with the division between commandments and ceremonial law?

I told you TMS that you are a Catholic because you follow the teaching of Augustine and Thomas Aquinas.

But you keep arguing using the teaching of Thomas Aquinas.

Inquisitor

excellent!!

and yet no matter how logical and scriptural, --- they will never keep the Sabbath. Why? human nature can never obey, it rejects all things from God.

Put in-place on the Seventh day of creation and that means zero to the 40,000 flavors of what is commonly believed to be "Christian".

"WE are under "Grace", under "Unconditional acceptance --just as we are! " No change necessary, just a few words and its a done deal!

Well, one reason is because breaking the Sabbath command was punishable by death, which the Jews who executed Jesus enforced.
So what was the punishment for Adultery?
And the punishment for taking God's name in vain. ????

The punishments given to Moses to rule over the nation of Israel are not applied to our countries politics today.

The sabbath command does not change
Regardless of the type of penalty for not obeying.
The punishment does not change the commandment. The punishment can change or not exist but the commandment does not change. We are told to keep the commandments because we love Jesus not because we fear the penalties.

God is the final judge.

Start reading from Heb 3:7.

And read Psa 95. To get the context and understanding.

Psa 95:7 NET Today, if only you would obey him!
Psa 95:7 KJV For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To day if ye will hear his voice,....Psa 95:11 Unto whom I sware in my wrath that they should not enter into my rest.

Heb 3:7 Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice, 8 Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:.....Heb 3:11 So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)
The setting is Israel, and them not obeying God for 40 years so they don't enter the rest.
The author of Heb highlights "to day". In verse 13 and 15. Quoting David.
Heb 3:15 While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.

Heb 3:18 And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not? 19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

What was the rest that they could not enter into.. the promised land.

But the next generation do enter the promised land with Joshua.
Joshua is a type of christ. It all points to Christ.

Heb 4:1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. 2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

What is preached? The Gospel.
To enter the rest we need to believe the gospel. By faith hear it.

Heb 4:9-11
9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. 10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. 11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

I see no reason to say the sabbath has been replaced or removed or changed in any way.

The rest is receiving the gospel message today.. by faith in the gospel we will recieve the promised land. But today we can have rest in knowing the gospel.

The quotes are from Psa 95 and there are many references to it.

Hebrews 4:9 - There remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God. (NASB) Everyone should take note that the Greek word "sabbatismos" here is used nowhere else in the Bible. I often hear Sabbatarians suggest that this is the word for "keeping the weekly sabbath" when it is never used anywhere else in the Bible!

W. E. Vine, Greek Dictionary points out:

Sabbath rest (4520) (sabbatismos from sabbatízo = keep the Sabbath) literally means a keeping of a sabbath or a keeping of days of rest. It is used in this passage not in the literal sense (meaning to keep a specific day, the "Sabbath" day) but to describe a period of rest for God’s people which is modeled after and is a fulfillment of the traditional Sabbath.

SABBATISMOS a Sabbath-keeping, is used in Heb. 4:9, R.V., "a Sabbath rest," A.V. marg., "a keeping of a Sabbath" (akin to sabbatizoµ, to keep the Sabbath, used, e.g., in Ex. 16:30, not in the N.T.); here the Sabbath-keeping is the perpetual Sabbath rest to be enjoyed uninterruptedly by believers in their fellowship with the Father and the Son, in contrast to the weekly Sabbath under the Law.

Because this Sabbath rest is the rest of God Himself, its full fruition is yet future, though believers now enter into it. In whatever way they enter into divine “rest,” that which they enjoy is involved in an indissoluble relation with God. (Vine's Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words)

http://www.sermonindex.net/modules/articles/index.php?view=article&aid=35458

Hebrews 4:10 says the one who has entered His rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from His. Believers have entered in God’s rest through Jesus as God ceased or rested from His works in the seventh day of creation. God's ultimate, true rest did not come through Joshua or Moses, but through Jesus Christ. Joshua led Israel into the promised land, which was merely the earthly rest which was but a shadow of what was involved in the heavenly rest. The rest in Christ that God offers is spiritual and is superior to that which Joshua obtained. Israel's earthly rest was filled with conflict and attacks from their enemies and the daily cycle of work.

Although for centuries the Jews had found their physical rest in a day, the New Covenant takes the focus off the shadows of the Old Testament signs and rituals and reveals their spiritual substance -- the fulfillment/reality—in the person of Jesus Christ. (Colossians 2:16-17) Christians find complete "sabbatismos" rest in Jesus Christ and not in law keeping.

Certain folks need to find their 'sabbatismos' rest in Christ (Hebrews 4:9) in contrast with trying to find their rest in keeping the weekly sabbath day under the law. (Exodus 31:16-17; 35:1-3; Deuteronomy 5:15)

Heb 4:9 There remaineth therefore a ‘keeping of the sabbath’ (see margin) to the people of God”. The context of Hebrews three and four does not indicate that Paul was trying to convince the Hebrew Christians which day to keep holy. They already knew that. His great burden was for them to enter into a spiritual relationship with Christ, to have an experience of rest from the works of sin. He proved that the children of Israel did not find that true rest because of their lack of faith and disobedience in the wilderness. Although the Greek word for rest, katapausis, means simply “cessation from work,” the context seems to indicate that the author is talking primarily about finding a spiritual rest in their experience.

Nevertheless, the two chapters definitely tie the spiritual rest to the Seventh-day Sabbath-keeping initiated and commanded by God in the beginning. Otherwise, we would not find in verse four a direct quote from Genesis 2:2. “For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works” (Hebrews 4:4). The reason for citing God’s resting on the Sabbath from His work of creation is revealed only when you analyze verses nine and ten. Paul says that what remains for God’s people is not katapausis (a spiritual rest), but sabbatismas, meaning a literal keeping of the Sabbath. Then in verse ten we find the real key which proves beyond a question that the sabbatismas rest was not spiritual only, but a cessation from physical work. “For he that is entered into his rest (katapausis—spiritual rest), he also (in addition to the spiritual rest) hath ceased from his own works, as God did from His.”
The big question about this verse focuses on the works which one ceases from.

Are they works of sin?
Are they works to obtain salvation?
Or are they the physical works from which we cease on the Sabbath?

The answer is plainly revealed by the phrase “as God did from His.” Go back to verse four and we begin to understand why this quote from Genesis is included in Paul’s discourse.

It is necessary to establish which works God did rest from. God ceased from His physical work of creation on the seventh day, and we are admonished to cease from ours, as He did from His. He did not just enter into a spiritual rest on the seventh day or we might conclude that He was not at spiritual rest on the first six days. The fact is that God is always at spiritual rest. Neither did He have any works of sin or the flesh to cease from. He simply rested on the seventh day from His work of creation, and we are being told by Paul that the ones who truly have received the spiritual rest of salvation will also cease from their physical works on the Sabbath, as God did from His.

So let's read verses 9 and 10 again..

Heb 4:9 There remaineth therefore a rest (Sabbath) to the people of God. 10 For he that is entered into his rest (spiritual gospel), he also hath ceased from his own works(physical works), as God did from his.(God did no physical works on the sabbath)

So God's people have the spiritual rest, and are also keeping the sabbath.

Someone might suggest that after we enter into spiritual rest there would be no need to observe the memorial of it by keeping the Sabbath physically. But if that were true, we would have to also stop practicing water baptism. Immersion memorializes our death to the old man of sin. We experience that conversion before entering the water to be baptized. If the physical observance is unnecessary just because we have had the spiritual symbolism fulfilled in us, then we should abandon the physical custom.
Further, we would have to renounce the practice of celebrating the Lord’s Supper.

A reminder from scripture about the Ten Commandments that are the contents of the covenant old and new ( i will explain this this further shortly)

The Ten Commandments hold a place that no other law holds, because God Himself spoke them aloud and God Himself wrote them. The Scriptures make this difference plain. Exodus 20:1 says, “And God spoke all these words, saying,” showing that the voice heard at Sinai was not the voice of a prophet but the voice of God speaking directly to the whole nation. Deuteronomy 4:12–13 says, “The Lord spoke to you out of the midst of the fire… So He declared to you His covenant, which He commanded you to perform, the Ten Commandments; and He wrote them on two tablets of stone.”

Here the Ten Commandments are called God’s covenant, and they were written by God, not by a man. Deuteronomy 5:22 repeats this and adds an important detail: “These words the Lord spoke… with a loud voice; and He added no more. Then He wrote them on two tablets of stone and gave them to me.”

God spoke only this set of laws in this manner, and He added nothing else to this group. No other part of the law was spoken directly to the nation by God with His own voice. Exodus 31:18 adds, “He gave Moses two tablets of the Testimony… tablets of stone, written with the finger of God.” And Exodus 34:28 says the same: “He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments.”

The testimony is consistent and unbroken. The Ten Commandments came directly from the mouth and the hand of God.
The rest of the law was different. These laws were given through Moses and written by Moses, not spoken directly by God to the people and not written by God on stone. Deuteronomy 31:24–26 says, “When Moses had completed writing the words of this law in a book… Moses commanded the Levites… ‘Take this Book of the Law, and put it beside the ark.’” These laws were written in a book by Moses, not carved in stone by God, and they were placed beside the ark, not inside it. Exodus 24:3–4 states, “Moses came and told the people all the words of the Lord and all the judgments… And Moses wrote all the words of the Lord.” These judgments and instructions were written by Moses because they belonged to the body of laws given through the prophet. Leviticus 1:1–2 also shows how these laws came: “Now the Lord called to Moses, and spoke to him… saying: ‘Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them.’” God gave Moses many instructions, but Moses delivered them and Moses wrote them. 1 Kings 8:9 gives the final piece of evidence: “There was nothing in the ark except the two tablets of stone which Moses put there at Horeb.” Only the Ten Commandments were placed inside the ark. The other laws, written by Moses, were placed beside it. The Scriptures themselves show the separation.

Because God does not change, what He spoke with His own voice and wrote with His own finger stands with His own unchanging nature. Malachi 3:6 says, “For I am the Lord, I do not change.” Numbers 23:19 says, “God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent.” Psalm 102:27 says, “But You are the same, and Your years will have no end.” The God who spoke “You shall have no other gods before Me” is the same forever, and the covenant He personally established does not shift.
The Scriptures also say plainly that God’s commandments are eternal. Psalm 111:7–8 says, “The works of His hands are verity and justice; all His precepts are sure. They stand fast forever and ever.” Psalm 119:142 says, “Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and Your law is truth.” Psalm 119:160 says, “The entirety of Your word is truth, and every one of Your righteous judgments endures forever.” And Ecclesiastes 12:13 summarizes the whole matter: “Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is man’s all.” The Scriptures do not present the commandments as temporary or passing. They present them as God’s everlasting standard.

This is a the testimony of Scripture. The Ten Commandments were spoken and written by God, placed inside the ark, called the covenant, and marked as permanent. The rest of the law was written by Moses, placed beside the ark, and never given the same place or the same everlasting description. Because God does not change, the covenant He spoke and wrote does not change, and the Scriptures declare that His commandments stand forever.

The New Covenant Is Not What Many Have Been Taught

The old covenant was the covenant God made with Israel at Sinai, and Scripture says plainly that this covenant was the Ten Commandments. Deuteronomy 4:12–13 says, “The Lord spoke to you out of the midst of the fire… So He declared to you His covenant, which He commanded you to perform, the Ten Commandments; and He wrote them on two tablets of stone.” The same truth is repeated in Exodus 34:28: “He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments.” These commandments were spoken directly by God and written by His own finger. Deuteronomy 5:22says, “These words the Lord spoke… with a loud voice; and He added no more. Then He wrote them on two tablets of stone and gave them to me.” This was the covenant Israel entered into, and this covenant stood as the foundation of their relationship with God.

The prophets later spoke of a new covenant, not because the commandments were changed or removed, but because Israel did not keep the covenant they had entered. Jeremiah 31:31–32 says, “‘Behold, the days are coming,’ says the Lord, ‘when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah, not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers… My covenant which they broke.’” The new covenant would be different in how it works, not different in the righteousness it requires. God does not say He will erase His law. Instead He says what the new covenant contains. Jeremiah 31:33 says, “But this is the covenant that I will make… I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.” The change is not the removal of the commandments. The change is the location of the commandments. Instead of being written only on stone, they would be written inside the heart of the believer.

Jesus confirmed this with His own words and actions. Jesus taught that the commandments remain God’s will. In Matthew 5:17 He said, “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets.” In Matthew 19:17 He told the seeker, “If you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.” Jesus also showed what love for Him means. John 14:15 says, “If you love Me, keep My commandments.” Jesus is not replacing the Father’s commandments. He is confirming them. In John 15:10 He says, “If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.” The new covenant does not remove obedience. It brings a new kind of obedience through the Spirit.

Jesus also fulfilled what the prophets wrote about the Spirit being given to those who believe. John 7:38–39 says, “He who believes in Me… out of his heart will flow rivers of living water. But this He spoke concerning the Spirit.” And after His resurrection, Jesus said in John 20:22, “Receive the Holy Spirit.” The Spirit does not replace the commandments; the Spirit writes them into the heart, just as Jeremiah said.

The new covenant also includes forgiveness in a deeper and final way. In Jeremiah 31:34 the Lord says, “I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.” Jesus confirmed this at the Last Supper. Matthew 26:28 says, “For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.” The new covenant brings cleansing, pardon, and a renewed heart so that the believer can walk in God’s ways with joy and strength.

The Scriptures also teach that the kingdom of God grows in this age, even while not all receive it. Jesus said in Matthew 13:31–32 that the kingdom is “like a mustard seed… which indeed is the least of all the seeds; but when it is grown it is greater than the herbs.” And in Matthew 13:33 He said the kingdom is like leaven that spreads through the whole lump. The growth of the kingdom continues until He returns. Yet only those who believe receive the Spirit now. John 1:12 says, “As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God.” And those who receive Him walk in His words because His law is written in their hearts, as the prophet declared.

This is the distinction the Scriptures give. The old covenant was the Ten Commandments written on stone and heard at Sinai. The new covenant is the same Ten Commandments written on the heart by the Holy Spirit, joined with the forgiveness and life that come through the blood of Jesus. Jesus confirmed the commandments by His teachings, kept them perfectly in His life, and through the Spirit He gives, He enables His people to keep them from the heart. The kingdom grows as the word spreads, but only the true believers receive the Spirit now and have God’s commandments written within them until the day He returns.

The astute will know that the commands against adultery and swearing were renewed in the NT but without the death penalty for committing them.

Unless, of course, our Lord mandates otherwise.

Again, you do you and I will do my spirit filled best to honor scripture and follow Christ.

Just be aware that you might be holding hollow traditions..
I ask for biblical texts to prove your statements but you just keep making and believing these unproven points.

The 10 commandments were never removed in the bible anywhere.

So be careful that you don't presume that all these changes have been made.

The Catholic church boasts about changing the sabbath from Saturday to Sunday. And today people just say they are removed by grace.. but this is not what the Bible teaches.

Rom 7:12-14
12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good. 13 Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful. 14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.
Rom 7:22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:

If the law was made void by the death of Jesus why does Paul say it is a Good thing.

If sin = death
And sin is the transgression of the law.

The transgression of the law = death.

Jesus died for our sins and paid the death penalty for us..

So does that mean we are free to transgress the law or we are free from the penalty of the law.

Does that mean the law is removed or the penalty of transgressing the law is removed.

Grace = unmerited, freely-given favor.

If the law is removed, we would not need grace. The law is not removed but we are free from the penalty by the grace of Jesus.

Unless, of course, our Lord mandates otherwise.
So does the Lord mandate that the 4th commandment is void? No
Don't use Col 2 as this is clearly referring to feast days and yearly sabbaths not the weekly sabbath.

People will always find reasons to believe what they want to believe..

Worship for God is going to be a big issue soon.

Will people worship God or man

Man set up Sunday observance
God sanctified the 7th day.

When you need to choose between the 7th day or the 1st day, think about who your worshiping?
