Your grasp of history is limited to say the least. Technology has vastly improved life for most people, especially women. I remember my mother dealing with 4 very young children and no washing machine. How about the vacuum cleaner? Do know what they did before that came along? The telephone, radio, life saving medications - the list goes on.
What has not changed is human nature. War has always been part of humanity's culture. War is the prime cause of famine, premature death, injury and destruction generally.
You should look at the 19th century wars. There was no such thing as a war crime. Might was right. How about incurable diseases that killed millions? Smallpox, for example? Polio would be eradicated if not for those who reject vaccination programs. Blindness? Look up Fred Hollows. I won't go on.
