Exodus 23:5 5 If thou see the ass of him that hateth thee lying under his burden, and wouldest forbear to help him, thou shalt surely help with him.
(It's very tempting to leave the asses of those who hate us to lie under the burdens they have created - sometimes themselves, by their own lying - but God's kindness and His expectation for us to follow His example is seen even in the Old Testament).
2 many can compete for #1. 1 of them: 1st John 5:13: "these things have we written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God, that you may know you have eternal life & that you may believe in the name of the Son of God".
and by Son made as Holy Col 1:21-22Holiness.
Leviticus 19:2 Speak unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say unto them, Ye shall be holy: for I the Lord your God am holy.
Lately it’s been Matthew 7:23. I have no clue why but I tend to gravitate to it every time I open my Bible. It’s a good reminder of something I never want to hear. I tend to gravitate towards scripture that can be scary. Maybe it’s the Spirit reaffirming my fear of the Lord.
What are y'alls fav bible verse?![]()
Ecclesiastes 12
13 Here is my final conclusion: fear God and obey his commandments, for this is the entire duty of man.
It's not so often one stumbles upon the meaning of life......
I clearly remember reading the Bible the first time as a child, it was Genesis Chapter 1. It was out of curiosity of course, and after I read it, I knew it was the word of God. I put it down and didn't pick up again for many years, but it definitely left impression on me for the rest of my life.
I just don't see how any one can read the Bible and not understand the power of it's word, I don't even know what I believed as a child as far as doctrine, but could sense the Bible was a meaningful book. Did I believe in God as a child? Absolutely. If you questioned me, but I could hardly defend what I believed, or even knew one Bible verse. As a child, church doctrine didn't mean a whole lot, it was just faith in God, and that was pretty much it.
