As a serious answer to the OP, I think if you have to ask outright what your date is going to bring to the table then you're probably doing dating wrong. Either you think finding someone is like finding your perfect ______ on amazon with all the features you want just so or else you're so desperate that you're dating anyone at all with no clue about who they are as a person. But when it comes to successful dating, I can't say I have a very good track record.
I think asking outright is a sign of the breakdown of sociability since traditionally that question is answered through conversation. I don't feel the need to ask a man how much money he makes, but if I'm dating him I'm going to be watching his attitudes toward money, what kind of dates we have (do they seem rather expensive or spendthrift), does he sound like he's stressing about money, etc.
