Recently, I have seen multiple Youtube videos of men "walking away" from dating and marriage due to their distaste of the "modern woman", feminism, etc. This is a separate discussion of its own. However, one thing these men want to know from their dates early on is what these women bring to the table. In fact, some men even directly ask the women what they bring to the table, and the women are often shocked and offended.

What do you think of this question, and how would you react? I think it is a valid question, but seems very transactional and probably not a good way to start a relationship. Especially, if a woman asks a man this question, I am certain a man would not like a woman questioning him this way.

And, to both men and women, if your date asked you this question, how would you respond?

Good golly.

What does she have in her yard to lure them in... A salt mine?!

That's about one every nine days... I did the math. With a calculator, of course .;):D

Uh, I do not bring math skills to the table .:giggle:

I do not like the "what do you bring to the table" question. Seems too forward for a first date. My first thought would be "Get to know me and decide for yourself, isn't that why we're on a date? 🙄"

Besides, If you don't know what a person values then there's no way to know what they would consider an asset. Or maybe it's just a slightly politer way of asking "what is your net worth?" 🤔. If so that's kinda horrifying. 😬

Yeah, Lynx is definitely no slouch when it comes to the Bible. I call him and @cinder my own personal Walking Concordances. I can remember key words, but not many passages in full or their references.

I will regularly put out a message saying, "Hey guys, I need to find a passage that talks about X, Y, and Z... Here's the key phrase I'm thinking of..."

It's not a matter of IF they can answer, but who is able to answer first. Sure, I could just Google it, but it's A LOT more fun asking them. :p

The reason I have to read the Bible over so much is because my primitive little smooth brain doesn't hold on to much of what I read!

You see, that's commendable.
I am also not good at keeping Bible verses. but a Korean Evangelist helped us with a meditation pattern that is really helping. I envy your tribe.

But we have a "deer season" where you are allowed to kill a deer, and the rest of the time you can't.

Actually it's more complicated... The first part is archery, where you can only kill a deer with a bow. Then there's muzzle-loader, where you can only kill a deer with a bow or a single-shot muzzle-loaded gun. Then the last part, you can kill a deer with any ole gun. My aunt only hunts during that last part.

So my aunt killed those 40 deer, on her own land only, between November 23rd, 2024, and January 5th, 2025. I just now googled when deer season in Tennessee is, and google said the "gun" part was between those dates.

That's how many deer we have running around here. o_O

If you want to keep a garden, you better have a dog. No way you're going to keep deer out of the garden any other way.

I asked my phone. My phone said this:

No, Tennessee does not have a hunting season for lynx because they are a federally and state-protected species.

While there is no open season for lynx, Tennessee does have hunting and trapping seasons for bobcats, which are a different species. Bobcats are often mistaken for lynx, but regulations clearly differentiate between the two.

of course that's what the table is for
by that, i also meant the question is too early in a new relationship. it's understood the question is proper when deciding to go steady with someone & especially when matrimony is considered.

If anyone asked me what I brought to the table, I'd be considerate enough to let them watch me in action at someone else's table.

Happy landing.

This had been what they did in old times. But the girl's daddy was the one asking. Asking the boy what he was able to do for food, income, housing, the battle field. Like Native American Tribes, and also in Israel in bible times. They are accused the boy of not being good enough.

He then has to build a 2 story, 8 bedroom house for the father, for free, just to prove it.

Sure, go on over to the Bible Discussion for the lesson -- that's great! But then come on over to Singles or Family for the Coffee And Donuts after hours, where we talk about actually living out our Christian lives.
I'm definitely down with the Coffee and Donut afterhours fellowship. I love the Singles forum. There are a lot of quality peeps that frequent that forum. My kind of place for sure.
