"Minute of deer" grouping, looks great! Thank you for sharing.
I noticed over the service life of the 30-06 the bullets kept getting lighter, finally they went with the 7.62x 51, about a 1/2 inch shorter than the 30-06. A very naturally accurate cartridge.
I'm still "under"whelmed about this new, weird service cartridge, so many other good options, 7mm-08 perhaps, and others.
blessings, friend

This looked like "Gun thread" stuff to me, over and over in these ww2 videos I sense the hand of Him over many and all in that war, factory workers, engineers, etc.
The proximity fuse was a miracle in it's development, the Germans gave up on it, said it was impossible. When it was used against the nazi terror weapon V1's they achieved 82% success.
This F6F could dive at 490 mph (or was it knots?) and have full control of it's wing surfaces-

How long until they come full circle and go back to the 45 ACP?!

I think the military is going to some sort of 6.5 cartridge? I don't even want to know or get interested. I'm so vested in 308/7.62 that who wants to start buying yet another caliber of brass and bullets! I load my ammo, all except 22LR I have to buy those, lol. I used to have a 30/06 and loaded for it and all that but then I discovered in the real world that a 308 does everything that needs to be done here in North America, the 30/06 doesnt do anything better than 308 so that means less brass to buy and less powder to burn!

And the way I figure it, in this day & age, it should be 3 223's per every 308. The 223's give the 308 guy time to work. That sound right to you?

Yes I moved back to the city, so I had to get the 223, lol. So only 3 kinds of rifle brass to stock now. Pistol caliber carbines notwithstanding!

6.8 Sig with a 3 Metal case<
Apparently because politicians invested in the company that provides their program. The rifle is said to be unbalanced/ front heavy and unreliable in initial reports.

It sounds like you made a fine choice to focus on, better than the latest mil contract.

Late war, ww2, the Sherman Calliope fired 60 rockets.
"Overwhelm, obliterate, and move forward", became the battle doctrine.
Over and over the American Army adapted and overwhelmed the adversaries minions, we were a Bible believing, God worshiping people, and a remnant still are, although we are required to be His Own and not merely "know" a bit about Him.
Keep praying dear brothers and sisters:)(y)

I just read about the round. Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound. 3200 fps, low recoil from a light bullet, special case that's lighter than normal brass and runs at 80,000 psi! and on and on.

That ammo and brass will be like $22 per round! or something close. Hybrid metals brass cases super specialized. Oh yeah I want to start collecting that brass! Lol. On sale now 20 pieces brand new, $399.95 ! Hilarious.

308 brass is closer to dime a dozen than some ridiculous priced stuff.

You know what else is? 44 Mag! That's a great round!. I needs me one of those new Ruger Marlins 1894 Classic. That's next on my list. I have like 7 or 8 different moulds for it and dozens of good loads on the books. 44 Mag is so easy to load for.

The brass is not reusable. One time use with that special hybrid brass. Junk!

There's a whole lot of promotional rifles reviewed with the latest wiz BANG*.
They hyped it up.
Then we dig deeper and there's some serious trade offs.
Since they're not paying for it and the military budget has always been the golden goose that Congress makes mountains of tax $ from, I shouldn't be surprised that it's non-reloadable. That keeps it out of the hands of the civis. Remember when that was the priority of Obamanation?
He banned the sale of surplus rifles and ammo to those enemies of his state.

Yeah from the hype I thought it was going to be a phased Plasma Rifle in the 40 watt range, lol. I saw some of the brass, it has a steel head and only goes up a short ways then it turns to brass it's pretty obvious what would happen if it were reloaded, right at the seam.

I think your decision to stay with 308 makes sense.

With air drones the battlefields have changed according to boots on the ground in the Ukraine, things have changed.

I've never shot one of those but it is a very interesting cartridge that has a lot going for it, including the brass which can be made from 308 brass.

I love that stuff. I have some tooling that I can make 45ACP shotshells out of 308 Win brass. Trim it down, form a shoulder on it so the top gets necked down to accept 45 cal gas checks and seal it with gas checks is what they said to do I tried it and it does work ok but I also discovered that using a trimmed down 410 sg wad in the case capped with a single 00 buckshot and they worked good in my 1911 and even cycle it. That 308 head on the case is the same size as a 45 ACP case so it works good, but have limited use in the city.

The army used to issue the black berets only to Rangers. That was earned.
Then the recruit #s were down and they went to the "Amy of ONE" slogan and passed out black berets to privates like participation trophies.

That was around the time when ACU was the camo of invisibility.

Even "earned" they were of little worth and questionable.
best wishes:)(y)

The best thing to compare them to were what they represented. yeah they probably cost under $30.
What was underneath them was worth a lot more.
The black Ranger Berets were a status symbol like the green berets . IMHO the army brass spat in Ranger companies faces when they passed them out to everyone and their cousin.

I was wearing my camo boonie outside today. It's practical.

Still, we burn our ears, that jungle camo hat was great, still is.
