GENESIS 2:16-17
16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
What I believe is missing from the picture is the history of what took place before God created man...
Satan and his angels had just wreaked havoc and disorder in the prehistoric angelic kingdom.
There was no resolve in sight to get Satan and his angels to admit wrong doing.
For prior to the fall of Satan, the only thing the angels knew was good without conflict.
That being so.
The angels had no understanding of what desires of evil motivation towards another had packed away in its luggage.
In order for God to teach them why Satan's desires were detestable?
God would need to create a means to teach the angels why simply an evil desire was condemnable.
How could God show the angels why Satan and his angels needed to be condemned?
One way would be to create a creature who by nature is sinful and harmful to others.
But, God can not be the author of sin.
So, what to do?
Answer:
Create perfect creatures without sin.
Then?
Let Satan himself destroy their perfection by causing them to sin, and to take on a fallen nature.
And, what would God have if Satan caused that to happen?
God would then have a perfect example of what the desire of Satan and his angels would have produced if allowed to.
For when fallen? And, a jealous man murdered?
The angels then knew what Satan's desire towards the Lord would have accomplished if allowed the freedom to express it.
For when Satan desired to make himself like the Most High?
He could not know what that desire would produce when he had no knowledge of how to achieve it.
For what Satan desired when he wanted to make himself to be like the Most High?
Was to assassinate the Lord and take his place!
But? No angel could even understand what murder out of jealosusy is.
For they all were created originally into a sinless world!
There was no frame of reference to understand what was bad about Satan's jealous desire.
Such an evil thing was unknown to them in the world they had lived in.
For the angels had all been created sinless and with no knowledge of seeing the effects of jealousy and murder.
So for God to provide His teaching tools for the angels?
Man was created sinless, as only God could create them to be.
As long as man remained sinless, there could be no teaching the angels what jealousy and murder are.
And, the ironic twist?
When Adam fell?
Satan thought he was hurting God in doing so?
God now had his Evidence A in the conviction of Satan to the Lake of Fire!
For now on, God could show the angels why Satan's desire towards God was absolutely inexcusable and condemnable.
Thus, show them the meaning to the desire by what fallen men would produce overtly against each other.
Grace and peace.....
